East Dulwich Station Mural - And the winner is....
Siduhe replied to eastDAG's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Has anyone else see the similar Forest Hill installation - not street art of this sort, but a "Welcome to Forest Hill" which was crowd funded: https://se23.life/t/forest-hill-mural-crowdfunder-2-500-raised-successfully-in-75-hours/7656 I appreciate the plan is a bit different here, but the Forest Hill one makes me smile whenever I go past it, so hoping this one will do too. The attached photo is from SE23.life. -

I have a few photos and vids from 2012 - the year we were supposed to take my boss?s daughter to the Picture Gallery and instead she drank beer, took on three Marines and mostly beat them...USA...USA... -

Me! Registered a few days before Louisa, but well behind on the post count. 22/02/2007 09:11 -
The Grove was busy right up to the time it went out of business following the, er, rather odd fire just following a major refit of the property. It would be our local and is much missed, so I don't think it was a victim of changing tastes in the area at all. If the property was owned/leased by anyone other than the Dulwich Estate and the current lessee (neither of whom have appear to have any interest in developing a pub/restaurant facility for use by local people, but rather want to build housing/lock out competition in the area) it would have been reopened long before now.

Where is Gather and Gather?
Siduhe replied to Dulwich Born And Bred's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Gather & Gather is on-site catering staff I think. They used to run our staff canteen. -
This should be a direct link to all planning applications for the Grove Tavern. I can't see anything recent - Louisa, what are we missing? https://planning.southwark.gov.uk/online-applications/propertyDetails.do?activeTab=relatedCases&keyVal=_STHWR_PROPLPI_107631_2

The other two "fully on the pavement" boards:
-
I was interested enough to take a walk down LL around 11am on Saturday - there are lots of A-boards, largely on the shop forecourts, or half on forecourt/half on pavement, which don't present any real issues as far as I can see. I was surprised, however at the number of shops that do have A-boards fully on the pavement. Some, like the Tart and Meat Liquor ones are fairly easy to navigate around because the pavement is wide and there weren't that many people around. Others, like the Hisar one and the Tippler one, were harder because the pavement is narrow and it basically meant two people can't walk past each other in other directions, or for people with prams or mobility issues. There were also two big boards outside Johnnie's Cafe but to be fair, the manager was taking one of them in as I walked past as it was impossible for people to get past with both of them out there. I can only attach three files so I'll do these in separate posts but I don't think it's unreasonable to expect A-boards which are fully on the pavement to allow for full pedestrian flow. I completely agree what a shop does on its own forecourt is a matter for them.

I went through the junction and up Underhill Road just as the fire engines and police arrived on the scene this am. Couldn?t see much of concern and no pink powder, so it can?t have been that big a spill. Have just gone back the other way and everything is open and clear. Whatever it was, it?s sorted.

Denmark Hill station entrance shambles
Siduhe replied to Ginster's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The response from GTR seems to be entirely (and wrongly, IMHO) focused on putting people in a "better" place to queue to get out of Denmark Hill, rather than actually speeding up their ability to get out of the station in the first place. -

New Southwark Form to request a CPZ now online
Siduhe replied to jimlad48's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
James thanks. The age question is no longer required and I can submit my address without giving the house number which is appreciated. Thanks for making those changes. -

Thanks James. I have tried to fill the survey in with only my road and postcode but it won't accept it. It also has a mandatory requirement to give your year of birth, which isn't required to tell I am a resident. I'm not particularly pro or anti CPZ but I do have very strong views about being required to give sensitive personal data away in order to participate in local community discussions being led to by local councillors. -

Thanks to those who responded - I've tried to complete the survey by giving my name, road and postcode. It won't accept it (I guess because I haven't given the number of my house?). It also won't accept the survey unless I give my year of birth. Both of those (house number and year of birth) are critical bits of information to fraudsters - I've had my identity stolen twice following hacks of online service providers so I'm still struggling to know why this level of information is required to participate. -

kford Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- They know everyone in the ward from the electoral roll anyway. Does that include people who have opted out of having their electoral roll information shared? It's disappointing for me that the only way to participate in this survey is to give away your personal data for electoral use - something I choose not to do with any political party. It would be good practice to put a direct opt-out button in for those who want to participate in the survey but not then be contacted by the Lib Dems. There are no details given in the survey as to who to contact if you don't want your data to be used so the offer to "opt out at any time by contacting us" is next to useless. In the current environment where it's becoming clear just how much people are trying to use and abuse personal data for political gain, I'm really surprised you'd set the survey up this way James. -

kford Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "Already places like Pellatt road are reporting > increases in pressure, and this will only get > worse as the Dog Kennel Hill zone displaces into > your area." So CPZs force residents to demand a > CPZ, right? Bonkers. I've already come to the conclusion that a CPZ across most of ED is inevitable in the medium to long term for the reasons mentioned, and we know from the report that Southwark published that they see CPZs as helpful to their aims of getting people out of their cars and to limit short journeys by car. We live at the other end of LL, well away from the shops and we've never had anything close to a parking issue until the last 18 months. It's still not bad but it is busy and it seems that there are increasing numbers of commercial vehicles that belong to residents but are being parked up from other parts of ED/surrounds that do have a CPZ. There is one guy who parks a white van, a large red truck and a waste vehicle on our street (which is a bus route) who lives and runs his building and clearance business out of his home somewhere near DKH/Kings for example. -
Thames Water Essential Work in the area..
Siduhe replied to DulwichFox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Calsug Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > So you find it cheaper with a meter? > > We pay ?55 per month for water, 3 bedroom house > with one bathroom and no meter. I don't know if > thats good or bad?! We have a house with two bathrooms but only two regular occupants - we pay ?22.00 per month based on our meter readings. Our usage is at the low end for two people according to Thames Water but ?55.00 sounds a lot even if you have young children (which we don't). -
TW tweeted this a few hours ago re SE23/26/27, may also have affected us?
-
Our water came back around 3am on Underhill/Melford junction. In fact, this morning was the best water pressure we?ve had for a while. Not sure if that?s because Thames Water have fixed some underlying problem or rather that loads of people are still without water.
-
Has anyone else tried reporting this to Thames Water? I got through and they are ?not aware of any specific problems? in our area. I have reported I have no water but if there is a specific problem in our area, they don?t seem to be aware of it.
