The Times has an entire article on this today - including several recipes - behind a paywall but this is what they report Anna Del Conte as saying:

This refers to a recent Dutch study on the reasons why some smart meters may not record usage accurately: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2017/03/170303180139.htm

I have a ragu bolognese recipe (in Italian) which is said to be a traditional recipe - it uses white wine. Also a tiny bit of milk at the end which is what gives the sauce its orangy/red colour. Marcella Hazan's recipe is very similar. So I'm guessing Mary Berry upped the milk for cream.

Southwark Plans for Camberwell Old & New Cemeteries.
Siduhe replied to Penguin68's topic in The Lounge
I don't have any up to date info or know the full background, but see below for what was said at various public meetings last time the issue about Honor Oak Recreation Ground being used for burial came up (several years ago). http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1442128,1456217#msg-1456217 -
No recent experience but I went on one as a 9 year old in the mid 80s with my then best friend. It still stands out as one of the best holidays I had as a child. I wasn't a massively sporty child, much more into books and academic, but I didn't feel out of my depth and they got me to try stuff I'd never normally have done like abseiling and shooting. If it's anything like it was then I'd definitely recommend it.

Southwark Plans for Camberwell Old & New Cemeteries.

Blanche, these statements seem inherently contradictory to me and I'm still really struggling with the idea that your group feels comfortable using something as personal as people's religion as grounds to stop all religious burials in Southwark of any kind. At least you have confirmed that your group wants to stop all burials in Southwark - regardless of whether these are Christian, Catholic, Jewish, Muslim, atheist or agnostic. With that confirmation, your arguments about religious discrimination are irrelevant and in pretty poor taste in my view. -

I'm also interested in the answer but for a slightly different reason. As someone who walks through CCO most days and supports reasonable, additional burial provision in COC and elsewhere in Southwark, including for religious reasons (I've talked about this on here before), AND who tried to engage with the Save Southwark Woods campaign in their early days, I was very much given to understand that your group didn't support religious beliefs as grounds for burial at all. Certainly people in your group called it "mumbo jumbo" and a lot worse to my face - which is your/their prerogative and I have no issue with it. But I do find it disingenuous (at best) that you now want to support religious burial for Jewish and Muslim faiths as a ground for stopping the burial plans when, as far as I know, your group don't support any religious burial at all. Or if your position has changed on that, it would be good to know how it has changed. -

Blanche, can you help answer the question that we raised the last time this argument came up - and didn't get a clear answer to? http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1574548,1575018 (scroll down page) As I understand your group's position - you oppose all burials on the COC and other sites? So how is it an argument to say that you object to the plans because they discriminate in relation to burials of other faiths? If you wanted to argue for more burial provision I would get it, but I do think it is odd and potentially misleading to focus on this discrimination argument when you actually want to stop all burials of any kind on the sites. If you want people to support your campaign on the basis of what you think is discrimination, I think you should make it clear that the group opposes all burials of any kind whether Christian, Jewish or Muslim. -

It's very unlikely to be blood if you cooked it for 2 hours - there's hardly any blood left in a prepared chicken for roasting. More likely you had a particularly young bird and what you're seeing myoglobin pooling in the cavity - a result of the method of preparation. I use a thermometer too and sometimes notice that I get what looks like blood around the joints of the chicken even though the meat is cooked to well over safe temperature (so it can't be blood!). See below for some more info: http://www.hi-tm.com/Documents/Bloody-chik.html http://www.epicurious.com/expert-advice/safe-eat-bloody-chicken-article http://amazingribs.com/tips_and_technique/mythbusting_chicken_is_done_when_juices_run_clear.html

Are Southwark's "Missed Bin" Collections Entirely Fictional?
Siduhe replied to ianc's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Well, I can only offer an unreserved apology to Southwark/Veolia. Missed brown bin emptied at 8am this morning, well within the 3 days. -

Well I've taken heart from others' good experiences - will let you how I get on as our brown food bin wasn't emptied yesterday, so have just reported. -
An amazing coincidence that nathalie84 has hurt her ankle and receives a recommendation for findoc just after she herself has recommended them on another thread. http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,1784240,1786686#msg-1786686 Please stop spamming the forum.

Siduhe replied to ianc's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Fictional. Last time I reported and then followed up as to why no missed collection, I got a long explanation about the system used to log missed collection jobs through to Waste Management being down so they could not send anything to the team to collect missed collections from residents which then caused a back log of responding to residents "which we can only apologise for". Which would have been fine, save that they sent me an identical email three months earlier - word for word - just changed the date. -

There's a thread started by Renata Hamvas in the Lounge (assume because not directly an ED issue): http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,1785079,1785079#msg-1785079 -
Where in southwark can you take household rubbish?
Siduhe replied to louloulabelle's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
You can take general household waste to the Southwark Refuse and Recycling centre off Devon Street. There is a section for household waste - I used it last time our bin collections were missed. You will need ID/proof of address. -
If a bus is running behind schedule, TFL terminate it early - then send it back the other way, so that it is "on time" for the return journey it is supposed to make. I once complained about this to TFL and the answer was "we do terminate buses early to regulate service on the central part of the route and for the benefit of the majority of passengers on the route."
-
Thanks Renata. The works have at least started now so hopefully not too long. TFL say at least 14 Jan. Just a warning for those on the 363 who want to travel to E&C. Most (or all, driver this am wasn't sure) 363 buses are terminating early at Bricklayers Arms during these works, so TFL can keep the service on schedule despite the extra passengers.

Been listening online. Wow, what a game. Well done the Hamlet.

Settle an argument - was there a Costa in Peckham before?!
Siduhe replied to Rowanofski's topic in The Lounge
Brick House Bakery posted tonight they are opening a new shop at Peckham Rye train station, next to the Refreshment Rooms. -
This is great. Thanks Renata
