This thread I think - see Renata's post: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1170329,1171622#msg-1171622

There was a decision - I think it was discussed on another thread a while back. The Community Council decided to keep the lights to assist with traffic management and pedestrian safety. The lights were also re-phased and generally operate better than they did IMO.

I'm not a Bourne fan - saw the first and the second I think and then neither of the following until this one. Hope that these aren't seen as spoilers, but I really enjoyed it in a mindless, jerky cam, perpetual fight and car chase scene kind of way. I thought the car chases in particular were great and the Asset went from full on creepy villain to someone who I ended up feeling a bit sorry for (not much, just a bit). Wasn't such a fan of Alicia Vikander's "cyber ops" role - thought she was underused and a waste of a good actress and the tech bits were risible (but fun in a suspend your disbelief kind of way). Maybe it is more enjoyable as a standalone if you're not a massive fan of the series of films?

Lazero, I think we were on the same train or very close to it. Two broken down trains in front of us - one at Blackfriars, one at City Thameslink were the cause of this morning's chaos, according to our driver.

Diazepam/Valium - whether to take it or herbal remedies
Siduhe replied to Susanna Omynona's topic in The Lounge
I'm going to stick to what I have personal knowledge of. I was prescribed 3 weeks worth of 2mg Diazepam a few years ago to help with muscle spasms and neck/shoulder pain and tension headaches. I was a little bit concerned about using it given the reputation it has, and so I followed all the instructions about when and how to take it carefully as a result - I didn't drink any alcohol at all with it and if I skipped the window to take one, I didn't have one until the next window to avoid the risk of doubling up. I personally found it a very effective treatment, it really helped with my pain and consequently allowed me to sleep, I didn't feel out of control at any point and I had no problem at all adjusting to coming off it. If you are worried about using Diazepam, then definitely do and go back to discuss with your doctor, but please don't worry that it isn't safe to use as prescribed. There are lots of options available on the NHS to help with stress so it may be that one of those is a better option for you, but I do hope you can talk to your GP about this more before you decide how to deal with things. Wishing you all the best. -
Where to buy big/long pants locally
Siduhe replied to sanity girl's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Can't help with the pants, but unisex BodyGlide is worth trying for summer chafing. Don't buy the women's (pink!) formulation. It's often more expensive for the same product. -
Please stop shouting in your thread titles and posts.

For the people asking what the money will be spent on - there's a level of detail on the funding page as follows: and also see the breakdown here.

former East Dulwich councillor - how can I help?
Siduhe replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
UG, I was going to link to the info here, but I see you already have seen all of this: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,1667700,1667700#msg-1667700 -
It is supposed to only be for a month when the proposal was first made (and this has been reported widely), but I've noticed that the wording of the Southern webpage has been changed to: That sounds pretty ominous to me - with no actual plan to restore services unless the unions back down.
-
a_m - from the Southern website - I'm not holding my breath though given the weasel wording of the below "where possible":

The Times has reported this morning that "The ?toxicity charge? implemented by Mr Khan, which will increase from an extra ?10 a day to ?12.50 in 2019, will not apply to taxis and Uber cars. Local residents are expected to continue receiving a 90 per cent discount, at least initially."

I also ended up using Harradines - not the cheapest quote by a long way but no-one else we tried could firmly commit to our dates (which were fixed at short notice) and they did a great job.

With no voice and no veto, > decisions about how we can sell or buy from the EU > will not be under our control. This is exactly how I feel. We've lost the only control or influence we actually had - we won't get any say under even a modified Norway model - and people seem to think that's a good thing.

Please - no more whinging about the referendum result

robbin Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Oh, so the circuit breakers automatically > suspending trading for 5 minutes means the company > is "in trouble" does it Azira?! Yes, that's exactly why the circuit breakers exist. It means that the value of the company has fallen so significantly from the price that it opened trading at that it is appropriate for a regulatory strucutre to kick in to protect them against unnecessary or transitory volatility in prices and to protect them from periods of extreme illiquidity. If you don't think that a stock price fall of this extent hurts Barclays or RBS (makes it more expensive for them to raise funding, deal with counterparties and generally continue with BAU) even over the short term, then I fundamentally disagree. -
Paying the first term's fees after choosing another school
Siduhe replied to tercio's topic in The Family Room Discussion
There is a fairly recent case on this - same situation, don't know if the terms of the contract are similar to what you signed up to, but the school won. I'll try and find the reference so you can see whether it's similar to your contract. -
I've just gone past it. It's a proper burst. Junction of Lordship Land and Overhill Road, on Lordship Lane, the road has broken up in big sections on one lane and a flood of water heading down the hill. Temporary lights in place and lots of Thames Water vans. Traffic looks terrible. Avoid if you can.

8m didn't vote: if you don't like the result PLEASE sign this petition
Siduhe replied to Lucyalexandra's topic in The Lounge
Because the day I start substituting my own personal view for the belief of the entire electorate (and accepting the idea that the views of the minority overcome the days of the majority) is the day I give up on the idea of a democracy. I may not like what the government of this country do, or my local politicians or my MEPs but every 4 years or so I get to exercise my democratic right to express my views. That's the social compact and I'll stand by it. -
8m didn't vote: if you don't like the result PLEASE sign this petition
Siduhe replied to Lucyalexandra's topic in The Lounge
Every member of the electorate had the same opportunity to vote. At 72% turnout, the result is significantly more democratic than our last several elections. I'm violently opposed to Leave, I think it's crazy and this country will be significantly worse off over the long term, but I stand by the outcome. -
8m didn't vote: if you don't like the result PLEASE sign this petition
Siduhe replied to Lucyalexandra's topic in The Lounge
It's not meaningless, unless you assume that everyone who has signed up to it is a fake signatory. It's an expression of frustration and upset at the position that those who voted Remain find themselves in - particularly given what now seems to be backtracking on key Leave promises/statements made in the campaign. The idea now put forward that the best outcome for us is a Norway solution (pay into budget like we do now, accept free movement of goods, service and people like we have now, but have no say at the table and lose all our current vetos [including the right not to have to pay into future bail outs]) defies credibility in my view. However, I agree with what has been said above - whatever your position - the outcome of the Referendum was clear and that's what we have to work with. Democracy in action. -
Flood defences in Dulwich and Belair Parks
Siduhe replied to Robert Poste's Child's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I can't speak to more recent developments but when our house was built in ED 10 years ago it was an absolute planning requirement for the (pre-existing) parking space to be redone in a permeable medium to avoid runoff. I assumed this was a general Southwark approach - may be wrong. I know if you want to put in a drop kerb you need permission and this is subject to conditions as our neighbours are going through this process now. Not sure what the conditions are - will ask. -
Bin Waste Not Taken Help needed for Southwark
Siduhe replied to 1st Timer's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Same experience here recently. Bin collection missed - reported same day, logged and promised to be collected in 3 days. It wasn't. When I followed up I was told the rescheduled collection wasn't done due to "operative error" but the net effect was that my missed collection was never rescheduled and was just collected as normal 2 weeks later. -
Vauxhall Nova 1.2 in maroon. Much like this, but with more rust and a leaking windscreen. http://www.carandclassic.co.uk/uploads/cars/vauxhall/5642259.jpg

Have you tried one of the expanding foam type sink cleaners? You may well have something trapped in the bend in the pipework by the sink. Can't remember which one I used recently but it was in Sainsbury's, orange bottle.
