  1. Hi there, I am currently looking for part-time work for up to two days per week! My son is nine months old and I have just started looking for something to get me back in the workplace and to supplement our income. My history is in education, I have taught and tutored in a mixture of primary and secondary settings for the last five years. I have office experience but strongly feel that teaching has many transferable skills, not least skills in organisation, communication, performance and multi-tasking under pressure and an excellent grasp of computers. Please let me know if you'd be interested in seeing my CV or talking further. I'd love to hear more about it. Thanks, Gill
  2. Hi Lucy, I forgot to email you after showing interest in keeping the club going! I'm sorry and I would still like to help so let me know what I need to do. Would anyone else be up for sharing the responsibility? Gill
  3. How bizarre to think it is psychologically damaging to spoonfeed. It seems to me that by that logic bottle-feeding would be better than breastfeeding because older babies can control the bottle with their hands! I think this is a fairly unemotional topic that is more to do with practicality and what a baby will or won't go for rather than a 'philosophy'. I haven't read BLW because I'm tired of reading books about parenting that dress up a non-issue like whether or not you spoon-feed into a life choice. I think some perspective is required! I thought I would BLW because of my green, easy-going approach to parenting. 'Green' being the operative word because baby Joe refuses to feed himself and won't eat lumps - he cries until I fish everything out of his mouth which then makes him cry more! Alas, I am a spoonfeeder and I don't even make most of his food - I buy it! He loves to be held all the time and when he naps - I rest too or am walking around with him in his sling. I just don't have the time but I am pretty sure he'll survive his non-BLW upbringing!
  4. i went to camberwell for my foundation ten years ago and it was brilliant - very creative, lots of encouragement to explore and gain confidence. pete nemcini ran it but i think he is on the illustration ba now so im not sure what state the foundation is in now. i think that lcc has a good course too.
  5. How about confining her to her buggy so you can get a sunny stroll in? hope its still sunny for you when she's better!
  6. I have a set of birth to potty 'bum genius' nappies that I no longer want to use, but I don't know what to do with them - seems a shame to throw out but they are stained and bobbly from much use. Any ideas? Thanks
  7. My partner actually did all of the hoovering last weekend because I secretly went on a hoovering strike. I didn't even have to ask but afterwards he was all, 'I did ALL the hoovering on my day off!'. I think it's almost worth doing the cleaning just to avoid him lording it over me about it!! I am now on a secret toilet-cleaning strike but I don't know how much longer I can hold out for!
  8. i have this! Have you worked out what it is? i was terrified that i might be pregnant again but took a test and i'm in the clear!
  9. Whilst breastfeeding up a mountain by a waterfall I thought I'd love to see a website devoted to extreme breastfeeding! My sister sent me a cool photo once of a roller derby player breastfeeding on the sidelines at half time!
  10. For the last 6 weeks I have been walking around hour after hour in this grey and rainy weather with my large and heavy baby in his ergo carrier because he refuses to nap indoors. I feel so depressed, frumpy and soggy!! I totally agreee that the weather is a factor in how we feel and we have not had any cheerful weather for several weeks now. It is very hard to feel like the attractive, outgoing, adventurous and creative mums that we all want to feel like in this weather. I have my fingers crossed that when the sun starts shining things will look up a bit! I also wanted to mention that when I am missing my old life - I try and remember the amount of times I was bored and uncomfortable at social gatherings and frustrated at work and think that actually, the grass over that side isn't greener at all! Hope you are feeling better soon x
  11. I had the same thing - docs let me carry on for 2 MONTHS before prescribing me penecillin. Penecillin is definitely safe to take while pregnant and worth getting some prescribed if you are really suffering Hope you feel better
  12. Im sorry I missed yesterday - came to peckham rye by half eleven but couldn't see you. Does anyone want to swap numbers? xx
  13. Argh! I missed you, and the music session was chaos! Until next week ladies x
  14. Hey Lindsey, is it just us two? I saw there is a music session at Buchan children's centre in nunhead. Do you fancy that? I'm going to go for that because ofthe weather... Are you up for that? X
  15. Ok, hope for sun and see you at half ten :) x
  16. Hello all, is anybody up for meeting tomorrow morning? Xx
  17. Hello everyone - just wanted to say I feel your pain! I've spent many nights with my partner and baby sound asleep next to me while I try desperately to nod off. I also seemed to have developed night sweats since my baby has come along! Anyone else have this? I was wondering if anyone knows if nytol is safe while breastfeeding? I was also wondering how you know when your level of anxiety and exhaustion is normal and when you could possibly benefit from anti- anxiety medication? About clock-watching - I found that when I stopped looking at the time in between night-wakings, I had less to be depressed about in the morning! What you don't know can't hurt you!
  18. Was lovely to meet you on Tuesday lindsey, Looking forward to next week! Is everyone up for Peckham rye? X
  19. Brilliant, I'll see you all there. I have dark hair and my baby will be in a brown ergo carrier with a rose in his lapel (only kidding!)
  20. Excellent, I am too! Do you guys normally meet in the cafe? X
  21. Hi there, I'd love to tag along this tuesday too if possible. My name is gill and my baby is almost 7 months. Is anyone meeting this week? Thanks x
  22. Hello, Does anyone know what are good iron-rich baby-friendly foods? My baby has just started weaning...
  23. Also, I will definitely give the Buddhism for Mothers book a go - sounds great. Just as long as it doesn't make me feel I should be meditating every day (inevitably i won't and will just add it to my list of things to feel guilty about not doing - the same list with baby yoga and dieting on!)
  24. Thanks everyone - I do actually feel better about it knowing that so many of you are experiencing similar things and I think that Fi's comment was obviously a light-hearted joke and not meant to offend! Thanks also, Saffron, for that thread about our senses of humour! Thought I was the only one that had lost it post-natally! Although, i do still laugh often but it is usually about poo/pee/fart noises/raspberries! I think all mums are working hard - its hard work being a mum! Not all babies or parents respond well to training...
