  1. Some of the streams in Peckham rye park get mini rapids when it rains. Perhaps you could perch on a rock next to those....?
  2. I didn't think it was sexualising, but agree it was intended to shock. but there was a much nicer photo with a woman bf 2 children which i thought was less in your face. I dont know why they couldn't use a pic showing the mother bf her child how she would actually feed him, eg lying down or him on her lap or however they do it. I was quite surprised reading some comments on articles (I read a few sites so not sure which ones) at people being 'shocked' or 'disgusted' at children being bf past 1 or 2. I get why someone might choose not to but I don't get the attitude towards families that keep going.
  3. Oh no! I used a baking soda mixed to a paste to get grease stains out of my buggy hood but that was polyester. Suggest you google and see what comes up on ehow or similar?
  4. I wonder if underwater is even possible? Maybe with a nose plug like a synchronised swimmer.... You are right there needs to be an article on that. I will start a blog if anyone is willing to give it a go!
  5. Just been to a registration morning at a nursery. Cost ?25 to go on list. but.... They were very transparent about how many on the list, your chances, etc. there were 4 staff fully involved in showing a group of parents around and it was well organised. From the demand I imagine it does cost them to administrate the list. So although I would prefer not to have paid, I paid knowing what our chances are, and feeling like its beeing dealt with in a fair and professinal manner. Likely we won't get a place until the baby is around 2, so I know where I stand and will look for an alternative in the meantime. Any more that ?25 is pretty ridiculous though and I do feel like I have no choice if nursery is the way we want to go (as opposed to other child are options I mean)
  6. It seems unfair but I doubt there is anything illegal about it, unless they know for a fact that you won't get a place. I'm about to put my name down for a couple and I'm pretty heartbroken to be parting with my maternity cash!
  7. Yes, def see a doctor. Best to catch it early if you are going to need antibiotics.
  8. Hi nabs, no it healed wrong unfortunately, was 2nd degree but apparently can happen even if you only get grazes (though is fairly uncommon for any pregnant ladies reading so please don't worry) The nurse assured me it's a simple routine op but would like to talk to someone who has had it done.
  9. Hi, I'd be really interested to talk to someone who has had this done. Interested to know things like recovery times, when you can exercise, how much better/worse than the initial healing it was, what help did you need with baby, etc etc. Missed my chance to ask the gynae doctor as was upset so couldnt think of any questions. Understand it differs from person to person but anecdotes (by PM if you like) would be appreciated. Thank you Amy Ps not sure it makes a difference but this is not a prolapse situation, more a redo of stitches / badly healed tear problem.
  10. I'd like tips on cheaper veges. Are there any markets that you wold recommend? I get turned around by not really knowing how much they should cost and so not being sure if I am saving or not by buying local or in markets.
  11. Thanks uptime. I don't have access to a pc. Am I missing much by not having that?
  12. Another vote for the sling library. Slings cost a lot and it's worth checking that you get on with one before you buy it. I also have the ergo though my baby is only 5 months. If you or your baby are particularly tall/short/big/small then it might not be the one for you, or you might need a particular type.
  13. Hi, Just signed up for WW online... And it requires flash, which I can't use on my iPad. What do mac users do to get around this!? Edited to add.... Right so have downloaded the mobile app which works fine, but I just need to work out how to use it. Aaaaaargh!
  14. Hey, Where do you weigh yourselves? My scales are not reliable, so I want to find some scales that are. I could just weigh myself at the doctors whenever I'm there (which is a lot with the baby it seems) but even their scales differ between the rooms! By almost 2 kilos last time I checked (had docs and nurses on same day) I used to weight myself at the gym but membership has lapsed....
  15. I think that's good advice from monkey. (to do what's right for you and your little one) I'm planning to put my baby in nursery when I go back, though will look into all options partly because I'm worried about nursery waiting lists and partly because I'm not sure what my hours will be yet so want to keep everything covered. Also thanks for the links fuschia.
  16. Simone, don't be upset! Everyone is just giving their advice based on experience etc. If your little one is happy then that's all that matters.
  17. We bought ours, didn't want the hassle of returns and the responsibility for any damage.
  18. Hmmm, an interesting one. I had a pool but laboured a bit on the couch etc. i didnt think the water helped but my husband disagrees and saysi was better in it thanout. Personally i think you may has well have it there and then if you don't like it, you just get out. I had a birth pool in a box and it was fine. Mini sized.
  19. Hi super golden. Do you mean that Pilates counts as crunching and so is not allowed? I also read somewhere that you have to be careful lifting so I suppose body pump for example would be out. Power walking would be ok though and if you keep the pace up it's good for fat burning. Nb I'm not a fitness professional but will be watching this thread with interest!
  20. I put my baby on the bath mat with toys and he is fine. What about a collapsible bouncer? The infantino playmat from jojo folds up but I think toby might have outgrown it by now. You could use a picnic mat though not so colourful is nice and small.
  21. Thanks all. I think I am prone to mastitis and blocked ducts, unlucky I guess! I was worried to express but actually a midday express would work well as I could do over his nap for a week or so. Thanks again for the advice.
  22. That seems like good advice, provided you can stick it out. Have you got painkillers? It's helpful to keep on top of it rather than wait for them to wear off if you see what's mean. Good effort on the iceberg, at least you can have a nice salad !?
  23. Hello My baby is 5 months old and we are moving to mixed feeding. Ideally I want to bf twice a day and ff 3 times a day with any overnight feeds to be bf. The first 2 feeds I dropped went fine ie no engorgement etc but after dropping the 3rd feed I have mastitis in both boobs, only mild, but still. I'm assuming it's not a coincidence and am wondering if i should reiinstate the bf and try dropping it when the mastitis is cleared. If you are mixed feeding, what feeds do you bf vs ff? My baby feeds roughly 8am/11am/230pm/6pm/10pm and ideally I want to bf the 8am and 6pm plus any extra overnight feeds. Wondering if I've picked the wrong ones for my boobs to cope with? Has anyone encountered the same issue when dropping feeds... Should I persevere with the feeds and hope the antibiotics do their job or do I need to drain the breast more regularly and try again in a few weeks? I'm planning to visit a bf clinic for advice next week but thought someone might have some helpful anecdotes.
  24. In my experience the anti biotics take 1-2 days to kick in. I'm on my 3rd lot of mastitis but your case sounds worse than mine, although I seem to have managed to get it in both boobs. If it were me I would keep going with the massage etc and then all again on Monday. But go with your gut instinct. If there is no improvement then you need to get further help.
