  1. I liked having baby rice to mix it with stuff as the carbs though, so worth having a packet. Also good with fruit for breakfasts for the first bit.
  2. Called sugarcraft if you want to call them first, if they don't haven't they can get it.
  3. I would really recommend that you get one secondhand, whichever you choose. (the bee and chameleon are both great prams in my opinion. loved my bee but switched to a micralite after 6 months) Then you have the flexibility to change if your needs change without losing too much dosh. Overall I personally think the bee is better than the chameleon but it won't cope with country walks! Wheels are too small. One major advantage is that you can carry it by yourself which is invaluable on stairs or when the bus stops too far away from the pavement. Other prams I think worth looking at are the micralite toro, mountain buggy swift, baby jogger (amazingly easy fold) all have carrycot options. Also I read somewhere that the micralite toro carrycot can be used on the bugaboo bee using the maxi cosi adapters. Haven't tried this myself! Carrycots can be picked up for around ?30 and are usually pristine as they are used for so short a time. Have fun choosing!
  4. I do the hot water in a bucket too, hadn't thought of adding salt.
  5. Re bf, no we gave up a couple of weeks ago. Thanks for the offer though. Re bumbo, he has always been able to get out of it unfortunately! We now strap him in to whatever chair/pram he is in. Re the pram, he can be a messy eater and I don't want to be constantly cleaning the pram. Though as I've bought something on eBay that's what we will be doing for this weekend anyway. Also as he has all his naps in the pram he would be in there a lot.... Is a good point re spending, I find I can spend a lot thinking I need a magic solution and then find out I could have done without it! Thanks For all the tips.
  6. It's really, really cool! I loved it.
  7. Thanks all. We are going to try the phil and teds wriggle wrapper as it will hopefully come in handy on the flights we have coming up as well. Haven't been camping since he was small enough to fit in the bee cocoon... I'm hoping he sleeps ok!
  8. Thanks kitty We might just end up doing that!
  9. Any campers out there, recommendations for a camping high chair? Baby is 9 months old.
  10. Ps I'm really looking forward tk going back, this thread h helped too.
  11. I had a key and so was a latchkey kid I guess! For a while anyway. I liked it. House to myself, etc etc. didn't feel hard done by at all. Mum always worked except for one year she took out to 'be a mum' (she did stuff like volunteer in the school canteen etc) So I agree with minimac, your kids will adapt and also they will be very proud of you.
  12. It's funny, he needs me to get him to sleep but when he wakes in the night he mostly resettles. I think we let him get too overstimulated in the evenings maybe. But he and his dad have such fun then I wouldn't want to stop that yet.
  13. The mantra I go by now is 'if it isn't a problem for you then it isn't a problem' which I am pretty surei read on here. I have the same problem with my son standing up in the cot and shrieking unless I get the moment absolutely right when I put him into the cot. So probably 3 nights out of 4 I feed him his bottle and then hold him until he is asleep and then put him down. It's my first baby so I guess I'm hoping I can sleep train him later like you describe with your first baby. So.... Not tips, just.... Me too!
  14. I have a graco one and it's fine. You could always buy a second hand one and then buy a comfy cot mattress to go in it. As you aren't transporting the cot around it won't be a problem to have a bulky proper mattress.
  15. Hi, I sold an item for ?84 and it cost ?12 in fees including insertion fees and the final value payment. Steep! But I had already tried gum tree etc and I needed the space. Will be really interested to hear how you get on with the fb selling pages etc!
  16. Ok I just had a bunch of bananas taken from my front doorstep. It's getting silly now.
  17. Someone nicked our front gate. Still after a replacement if anyone is getting rid of one. Victorian terrace type gate.
  18. Yes, I think I worked it out at 9% plus listing fees. They do 'no 'fees' weekends but just save listing fees I think. I'm selling something now so can update you if that's way off! Gum tree can be good and it costs nothing to list. Might be worth bumping your family stuff on here as I don't think people look back all that far. I sold my bee via the forum and it's def the easiest and nicest way but you get a bigger audience on eBay!
  19. I have had some lovely things from Fenton Walsh Also whistles, I just love them.
  20. I'm not too bothered about plastic vs wooden toys, if the boy likes it he will play with it etc etc. I'm a bit taken aback by the size of some toys but I suppose all will become clear as he gets older. Eg we have both a plastic vtech walker and a proper wooden trolley style one and he plays with them both in different ways (not walking yet!) I do get tired of hearing the same sound effects and voice recordings coming out of different toys, a bit lazy from the manufacturers I think! And I now hum toy songs instead of pop songs, oh well.
  21. DMC have been great with apps for my baby. Harder to get for an adult, unless it's baby related eg I had repeated mastitis and as it was potentially affecting feeding my baby they saw me quickly. I was lucky enough to get in with the Lanes and they are fantastic.
  22. Hi, I weaned our baby off when he was 6 months old. I did it because we were getting more reliant on it eg he was crying on the bus, I'd give him the dummy. Not just for naps. In hindsight I wish I'd done it later, as he hasn't really attached to a comfort object and I wonder if I had introduced a comfort object before getting rid of the dummy then it might have been better? Anyway. It took a week for him to forget the dummy!
  23. Have you tried googling? There are all sorts of websites out there dedicated to getting specific standout of specific material. Eg baking soda to get grease stains off polyester pram hood.... Genius!
  24. Kellymom = great site I used it loads!
  25. ... And go to the southwark website for a list of nurseries. Best bet is to visit them all (well the ones that are a good location for you) and then go on the waiting list of the ones you like. You can expect to pay ?20-?30 just to go on the waiting lists. Also, get your name down ASAP as waiting lists can be quite long.
