Diverted 63 bus route - Marmora & Therapia Roads
OD replied to OD's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
@Skyoffire - thanks for posting the meeting details, unfortunately I will be at work. Can either you or Renata raise the following (as i'm sure others may also do): I'd like to raise the issue of adhering to the 15mph speed limit with Tfl, some drivers are obviously adhering to it, but not all. From my experience late at night and first thing in the morning seems to be the times that some drivers are not sticking to the rules. Thanks OD -
Diverted 63 bus route - Marmora & Therapia Roads
OD replied to OD's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
@jonbateson - I have experienced the same and have also wondered how the cars parked LEGALLY close to Therapia/FHR junction have thus far escaped damage; as the corner is very tight for the buses. You have the right to raise your concerns just like anyoone else. @Ruffers (and others of the same opinion) if residents of Therapia & Marmora roads were suggesting that the diversion be routed via Colyton and Mundunia roads instead, then I could see this as a case of these concerns being selfish/outright nimby-ism. However, most of the suggestions I've seen, and indeed the one that is currently in place (and as Renata confirmed 'TFL flatly refused at the time') are along routes which buses 'usually' travel via main roads.... and SEEM to be holding as a solution; unless anyone has an update that it isnt? -

Agreed it was a very nice day out. Had not appreciated the space that the golf course occupies....wonderful views too!! Highlight of the day were the very talented young musicians from the School of Rock!! Great job organising!! -

OR... continue to have the 63 bus turn round at Brockley Rise. I also travel on the 63/363 route (minimum twice a day)and it seems that since this arrangement was put in place on Saturday this has been working just fine! I think that Renata also menitioned a side affect of trialing the so called '63 route extension'...different issue I agree, but a side effect nonetheless. -

@skyoffire - as one of the residents that seem to be getting communications from the councillors, please can you (or anyone else who finds out) post the meeting details please. Much appreciated. OD -
Diverted 63 bus route - Marmora & Therapia Roads

Oh no!? This is awful......I'm not surprised but didn't want to preempt this happening by saying how likely is was to happen. My sympathies to the car owner. -
Hey Marmora Man, Have looked longingly at the roof terraces as per your soon to be 'ex-home' ...any chance of getting a look see at the view from your terrace before you depart??? I'm no celeb, but love living on Marmora Road, would be interesting to see it from a different perspective other than my garden flat view!! OD

Diverted 63 bus route - Marmora & Therapia Roads

Even though I was only a little concered when I first started this thread; mostly for other peoples children tbh.... OMG the buses are ridiculous... last night as 3 buses thundered down the road you could really feel the vibrations through the house and as Marmora has said, there seems to be little adherence to the reduced speed limit; saw a couple more buses this morning racing down the road too. Renata - Can you please please please expedite matters? Will be calling Harriet now!! I'd encourage others to do so too! -

Questionnaire from TfL re getting rid of cash payment options on busses
OD replied to PeckhamRose's topic in The Lounge
But Mr Ben... what happens when you've lost your wallet/or had it stolen (probably along with your phone) and all you have is ?3 in change in your pocket..... I've used an oystercard everyday for years and years...but still think this should be an option! -

Thanks for the info everyone, if its only for a few months then i personally wouldnt worry about it...however if I had children I'd be concerned. Does this mean that the bus stop opposite Therapia Road will be closed too, or will the bus turn right onto FHR from Marmora? I didnt get a leaflet through my door! -
Hello, I heard/read something briefly about the 63 bus route being diverted onto Marmora and Therapia roads as a result of road works soon to start. Does anyone have any information on this? or is it just a rumour? Thanks, OD

EL Pipe - would have to agree re many British best candidates actually working abroad; more than me probably realise! also your * point... somehow we also have to encourage recognition of vocational skills (as previously mentioned above)...as we all know qualification/certification does not equal experience.
-
As a person within my organisation (which has the word British in it's title) who employs people...I'm not in HR; but I do write job descriptions, select CV's, interview and make the final decision whom to hire... I am ALWAYS looking for the BEST candidate for the job and NOT the fact they're British and there is nothing that suggests its of benefit to do otherwise. The part of this conversation that I feel has real merit is to discuss how opportunities are created for British youth (in particular) to get the skills they need to compete for jobs in a global market, to learn the best ways to market themselves etc... HOWEVER if they themselves dont want to or see the need to gain these skills then regardless of what opportunities/training etc are avaialble the situation will remain the same.

WoD, quality is something that is yet to be mentioned here so.... if you had two restaurant chains.. one British owned and lets say 70% british staffed and one European owned and a mix of staff you would more likely to choose the British one?... but if the quality of the British one was not as high as the European one (e.g. poor customer service or not as good food) would you still make the same choice given those two options?

@Maxxi - love the fish image :) @reeko - I think you caught him on a bad day!! although admittedly, he wasnt the smiley type of guy! I think there was room for both, old school chip shop and new modern chip shop! I think it was nice to have the choice both within walking distance. I really hope that if a kebab shop does open, its of the FM Mangal, in Camberwell, style and quality.

I thought the Dolphin Fish bar was simply refurbishing, not completely changing management. I really liked the guy that served in there... the new potatoes chips were really good. I wonder if competition from the Sea Master caused its closure?... I like them both.
-
@CS - no that doesnt look very good at all. @PGC - thanks for the info, will see what they have on offer!!
-
Hello CS thanks for your response. I'm in a good position, as any new hedge will border my private garden and the other side is the communal garden to which I also have access.... so no 'issues' with the neighbours so to speak.
