  1. Thanks jj and fazer. Nice to read something sensible and serious here. I imagine the juvenile jokers are of the type who mock people no matter how serious the issue is.
  2. What's so hard to understand about noise waking people up??
  3. Quite true, MarkE. Does that mean that if, say, 5000 died previously, then the figure would rise to 6000?
  4. Some interesting info from the HACAN website, : http://www.hacan.org.uk/resources/reports/living.under.the.heathrow.flight.path.today.pdf http://www.hacan.org.uk/ http://www.bmj.com/content/347/bmj.f5432 "20% more chance of dying of stress-related diseases under Heathrow flight path". Serious!!

There's a parallel thread here: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,837871 in Mauritius, probably as part of a political deal brokered many years ago, a recorded and amplified version of the call to prayer can be heard in every District of the Island before daybreak. It disturbs a lot of people but it's too late to shut the stable door. ..
  8. Oh dear! There's a parallel thread here: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,837871 I find it astounding that some residents haven't noticed that as the roar of one jet fades, another's rises - throughout the day, each and every day.

Lots of good info on pages 1, 2, 3.:-))

  12. Thames estuary? Idiot? Rings a bell... Seriously, if we care, we need to get our voices heard. I'm considering using a petition site.
  13. It's 3.23am and a little one just flew by!! Don't forget to register your complaints at www.heathrowairport.com. It matters.
  14. I'll be back in ED on Saturday after 6 months in Mauritius - with the occasional (single) jet passing overhead at 10pm! Not looking forward to 4.30 alarm call.
  15. @EJTH: fascinating!Thankfully, I'm far away at the moment but must remember to get a smartphone when I get back!!
  16. Indeed, Polla. A friend from New York couldn't believe we put up with this.

  18. Fair enough on the NIMBY position, Bob. I suppose my attitude is NIABY - not in anyone's backyard at 4.30 in the morning. (I can hear them now; it's 5am!)
  19. Thanks for this, Stephen. Interesting options that address the problems seriously.

But let's be real - should builders be allowed to start noisy work at 4.30am? 8am is the established time for London and I find that reasonable. What a reasonable time for aircraft? (I know the answer's "any time" for the truly "chilled-out").
