And speaking of listening to others, how's this from Wikipedia: "In Internet slang, a troll (/ˈtroʊl/, /ˈtrɒl/) is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people,[1] by posting inflammatory,[2] extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community (such as a forum, chat room, or blog), either accidentally[3][4] or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response[5] or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion.[6]" Now relate this to my use of the word "EXACTLY". QED?

Isn't that EXACTLY what trolls do? "Who the cap fits, let him wear it!"
  3. Well said, penguin68 and *bob*. But - again delusionally ( the evidence is right here!)- you deny the fact that there are other posters who want less aircraft noise. The indignant objections still amount to: "I don't want people to think that wanting less aircraft noise, especially at 4.30 am in the morning, is a majority view".
  4. So, "I don't want people to think that wanting less aircraft noise, especially at 4.30 am in the morning, is a majority view". Time and time again, when challenged to explain their rabid participation on this thread, this is essentially what the busybodies/obsessives come up with. Pathetic! Delusional thinking doesn't get much more obvious than that.
  5. I honestly don't know. Perhaps someone else does.....
  6. When buying my first floor Victorian terrace (like yours) I challenged the valuation, pointed out a few minor flaws to the district valuer and he knocked 20k off. It's a gamble but they're usually sympathetic to tenants.

  8. Presumably some of the well-balanced, non-obsessives will be attending tomorrow's meeting to advise on cbt, etc.? ROFL.
  9. No we don't. One's better so hopefully it will all be discussed as above.
  10. This thread has gone dormant but the debate continues on "aircraft noise, have your say". Just posting details of a meeting tomorrow: PLANE TROUBLES/NOTES FROM THE MEETING ON 13TH MARCH 14/@ THE ASHBURNHAM ARMS There was a really excellent turnout for the plane noise meeting on the 13th at the Ash. Input from long - term local campaigners and from from HACAN, Greenwich Society , Blackheath Society and Brockley Noise really helped in gathering local information and planning. They confirmed local perceptions that there is indeed - ? An increase in plane traffic and disturbance over the area that has continued since the end of the Heathrow night trials in March 2013 ? Greenwich is probably suffering a combined effect of noise from City and Heathrow as well as helicopter noise With potential plans for increased traffic at Heathrow and City, this is likely to get worse - it seems this may indeed be the ideal time to start campaigning Possible Actions For those already concerned or those wanting to observe the situation - the HACAN website is an excellent start. www.hacan.org.uk. It also offers: - Loads of info and reports - a link to the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) for anyone wanting to lodge a complaint about excess numbers of flights/timing of flights/ noise level. - The chance to sign up to the ?5 minute action ? campaign ? where you get a weekly email only with an action London wide that guarantees to take only 5 minutes - Also, letters to the MP/councillors/local paper about your experience are always useful. Please send copies to the email below so we can start to collate a file Local meetings are now planned to track the situation and consider campaigning. The next meeting is provisionally planned for the 29th April or 6th May @ The Ashburnham Arms (TBC). Initially this informal local group will: - Explore how to get co-ordinated information about flight paths from both Heathrow, City and the helicopter flights to see the true joint picture - Aim for a joint meeting with Heathrow and City airport to discuss the cross over and related matters , perhaps linked through the London Assembly who already have plane noise on their agenda - Link up with other action groups across SE London to co-ordinate activity and effectiveness - Start local info gathering will be the first step so please watch this space Lastly, ?Brockley Noise? have organised a meeting with Heathrow for next Tuesday 18th March If you?d like to know more about why the traffic has increased since Dec 2012 this is a great source. Venue : Howell Hall, upstairs at St. John's Church, Brockley, London SE8 4EA. (The Church next to St. Johns mainline train station). You can also follow them on Twitter. See you there.

  13. Hi Tee, if they've sent you a huge capital repairs bill then you can use that to challenge the valuation and get a proportionate reduction via the district valuer's office.
  14. OK, here's a fair challenge for the aurally challenged. Daytime 1. Go to Peckham rye park 2. Listen and count for 5 mins. 3. report back here. Night time 1. Set alarm for 4.25am 2. Listen for 30 mins. 3. Report back. Simples!

AND NOW.... Re: Aircraft noise - have your say... Posted by Otta Today, 10:31AM Probably poorly attended because for most people this isn't a big problem. .................................... Looks like I made a lucky guess, eh... Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing. Anyhow, I'd appreciate hearing about Tuesday's meeting, please.

  17. Interesting... Runway resurfacing alters night-time flight patterns Runway resurfacing is an essential maintenance task that comes round roughly once every decade. Last year we resurfaced the southern runway. During 2014, we'll be resurfacing the northern runway. Because Heathrow is so busy, this work needs to takes place at night. That will mean changes to the pattern of night-time flights. From 23rd March to 31st October, most aircraft flying after 10.30pm and before 6am will use the southern runway. Since Heathrow has relatively few night flights, the changes won't affect many aircraft ? mostly arrivals after 4.30am. There will be no additional night flights. What does this mean for you? If you live under the flight path for the southern runway, you'll experience more night-time aircraft noise than usual If you live under the flight path for the northern runway, you'll experience less. 21. I should explain to those who may not be aware that I think we're dealing here with a sustained attempt to kill this thread. A simple check on the historic posts of members should give some idea of allegiances.

Otherwise, and for the umpteenth time, don't be a "busybody".

Unfortunately, your sensible posts have been largely shouted down - again - by those who aren't affected by the noise. Sj - why are you wasting your time here? You've said your bit time and time again to protect the public from our lies. Move on to things that affect you, please (as EP, who agrees with you, advised). Pardon me saying this but you seem "obsessed".
