  1. In Tower Hamlets, each household's allowed two free collections per year. Even once a year here would help to ease fly tipping.
  2. It's like when the kids stopped playing football daily near us. Blessed peace that you'd forgotten was even possible.
  3. http://m.richmondandtwickenhamtimes.co.uk/news/13654636.London_Assembly_Members_vote_against_Heathrow_expansion/?ref=rss&utm_medium=facebook&utm_source=twitterfeed London assembly votes against Heathrow expansion in the presence of Davies.
  4. It now looks like Davies got his sums 'wrong': http://hacan.org.uk/blog/?p=430
  5. I care, Otta. Just everyday empathy which (sometimes even against your will) makes you care about others' suffering. It's commonplace.
  6. Thanks sweptwind; very interesting.
  7. http://www.getwestlondon.co.uk/news/west-london-news/heathrow-airport-trials-steeper-approaches-9825361 Steeper approaches from 14th, September. Doesn't help those living near Heathrow but should, hopefully, bring us some relief. Btw, easterly winds means today and tomorrow should be a lot quieter.
  8. http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/jul/24/heathrow-airport-third-runway-discussions-government "Heathrow hints it may oppose ban on night flights as price for third runway". 'While most of the commission?s 11 requirements, including compensation topping ?1bn to buy out homeowners or provide for insulation schemes, echo Heathrow?s own pledges, the airport is particularly concerned by a ban on scheduled night flights between 11.30pm and 6am. Holland-Kaye said banning early-morning arrivals would impact on lucrative business routes: ?We have a significant number of routes to Hong Kong and Singapore. That?s getting key trading partners into the UK to start their business. It?s very popular because it?s an important route: we have to have some time to reflect on those and discuss them with government and airlines.?'
  9. Hi ydrmdy, I do a (local) ?15.00 single item special for forum members. References here: http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?30,880990 . Frank 07956 650744.
  10. Seems louder today. Must be my hearing aid.:-)
  11. This local charity will happily take them: http://www.aldlife.org/ Check for your nearest shop.
  12. Today's Derby is the 20th since the one described and I've tried to dream a winner (without any info about runners etc.). Woke up this morning with a name clearly in mind - Ancona. Unfortunately, no runner by that name ... (leaving out the obvious).
  13. I'm happy to say that I'm back at work (!) and will endeavour to do my very best to provide a useful man and van service to forum members. My rate remain the same (?25/hr local) and the ?15 'single' item, local quick drop is still on offer. Regards, Frank. 07956 650744.

  15. Received this link via email but the post has obviously been pulled (by admin?):http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?5,1216858,1504796#msg-1504796 I'd dearly love to know what it said.
  16. Yes, otta, I will be flying back to complete my annual 12,000 mile round trip! And Furthermore I'll be enjoying it too because I love flying and aircraft. BUT I regard loud, sleep-disturbing noise at night as a (proven) health hazard which is why I'm against night flights (as any sane person should be)! Anyhow, wrong thread!!!
  17. I'm also away at present but will try to find details of the "fine/charge" when I return next month. Thanks again, Erroll.
  18. Reminds me of the old joke: just because you're paranoid it doesn't mean they're not out to get you! Btw, they imposed a "fine" of ?90.00 on me a few years ago when I was disputing their charges; no legal notices etc., just a fine after threats. Any chance of recovering that?
  19. A lack of storage space inspired this 'foldaway' table last year for my nieces.
  20. Terrifying but informative. Thank you very much, Erroll.
  21. Heathrow didn't know flightpaths had changed! Unbelievable. http://hacan.org.uk/heathrow-airport-furious-nats-didnt-tell-them-about-critical-flight-path-changes/
  22. This is a link to research into the effect of night flights on the body. It's in French but shows that damage is done whether or not you're consciously aware of the flights.
