So we must all keep the > pressure up to get things permanently fixed. I complained to NHS England and copied you in James. The first response back was rather uninterested so I sent a second reiterating that complaining to the practise achieves nothing and patients are at risk. I got this reply back... The complaints process is as follows: Once a complaint has been made to either Provider (GP Surgery) or Commissioner (NHS England), the other cannot also investigate. Once a response has been provided, if you are unsatisfied you can contact the Parliamentary and Health Service Ombudsman. I can see from your previously complaints that it was about waiting times for appointments and phone calls being answered. NHS England commission the service, but the GP Surgery is a separate business, and NHS England do not govern the way that the service runs. If you have concerns over the way the service is run, and that they are taking on new patients, I would suggest putting this is writing to the Practice Manager. If you need any further information, please let me know. I would appreciate if you confirm receipt of this email. So as you can see a less than satisfactory response.
  2. Just to make parents aware, it was brought to my attention by another parent at my son's nursery that her child had missed their pre-school immunisations booster, due at 3 years and 4 months old. She is registered at DMC and didn't receive a letter to tell her it is due. It was only through speaking to a friend whose child had had it that she became aware. I am also registered at DMC and realised through this that my son had also missed it. I phoned and made an appointment for my son to have it - a three week wait for an appointment. When I attended I asked the receptionist why no letters had been sent out to tell parents their child was due an immunisation and was told that for some reason the letters hadn't been sent out. Also, whilst I was there they told me my son was also overdue his second MMR immunisation but again letters had failed to go out. So, if your child is over 3 years and 4 months and hasn't had their pre-school immunisation or are overdue any others and you want them to have it, make sure you make an appointment.
  3. Wow, 2 bed house on Silvester Road just been put on the market for ?1.2 million!! Crazy! http://www.zoopla.co.uk/for-sale/details/35897911?search_identifier=4f77c90daf70733cb3cc8550836a2354
  4. This is councillor James Barbers message with regards to what he sent to NHS r.e the DMC... http://jamesbarber.mycouncillor.org.uk/2015/02/10/dulwich-medical-centre/ As suggested, I too sent them an email copying in James Barber. I would urge everyone else to do so also. Maybe they will start to listen if they hear enough voices.
  5. James, can I second Cora's concern r.e the Dulwich Medical Centre. The situation there is at best appalling and at worst dangerous. The norm to get an appointment now is back to queuing from 7.30am as attempting to get through on a phone is impossible. Even being second in the queue guarantees nothing as all their 'book on the day appointments' have been previously booked up. Raising concerns with the staff there is pointless as the stock response is, 'It's not our fault.' Where does the buck stop? Who can be held accountable? Will it take the death of a vulnerable patient before anything will be done? I sincerely hope not but can not help but feel that this is what is going to happen if things continue in the way they are going. I myself have a life threatening condition but have been told numerous times that I can not see a doctor. I have gone down the NHS England route - what else can be done?
  6. I've been one of the people who in the past complained to NHS England about the appalling state of affairs at DMC. It was followed up by NHS England, they did investigate and I even got a phone call from the owner of the surgery. Slowly things did seem to improve but I have to agree that once again, things have slipped and the surgery seems to be back to their shoddy, dangerous and neglectful ways. I would urge EVERYONE who has experienced this to lodge a complaint with NhS England. They told me at the time that the more complaints they received, the more urgently it was dealt with. The EDF is a great place to vent steam and share frustrations but it will not make the DMC change. Pressure from NHS England may help to improve things somewhat, so please call the number above. If enough of us do it, who knows?
  7. My dad got a ticket 2 weeks ago in the post for having parked there shortly after christmas at 9.56am. No ticket was left on the car though so we can only presume it was a camera car that saw him. So they are enforcing it.
  8. I just bought the Trunki boostapak seat from halfords in brixton - on sale at the moment for ?39.95. The idea being that it folds into a backpack which is accepted as hand luggage on planes making it ideal to take with you on holidays. It has room in it for a few toys/snacks. The only thing is I bought it for my nearly 4 year old and at the moment it would be a bit too big for him to carry on his back but it won't be long til he's able to.
  9. I took my 3 year old to Jazz barbers on Lordship Lane today for a haircut and they were great. I didn't have an appointment but didn't have to wait at all. The guy who did the cut was really friendly and made my son feel very comfortable. The cut was really good and was cheaper than the place I usually take him. Definitely recommend.
  10. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vicks-Paediatric-Mini-Ultrasonic-Humidifier/dp/B003XQNDH0 I bought one of these when my son was little.Definitely on my top ten of must have baby products. Whenever LO had a cold I put this in his room when he slept and definitely seemed to help his breathing and as a consequent he would sleep a lot better. I still use it now and he's 3.
  11. Hi, not able to advise myself but this thread should help....... http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?29,1387265,1392794#msg-1392794
  12. How sad! My son loves this tree and we always have to stop when we walk past so he can look at it. I'm sure they have good reasons for doing it (if it is to stop subsidence) but still sad to see it go. :-(
  13. Thanks mens and bluesuperted. I will check them out online. Been searching for days but obviously hospital playsets aren't very popular as I can't find many at all!
  14. Same here. I have a junk folder but there is nothing in there from EDF. I had already added EDF to my safe list previously and I did used to get emails from EDF but that seems to have stopped over the last couple of weeks.
  15. Hi all. My 3 & 1/2 year old wants a play hospital for Xmas. Playmobil is usually my go to for things like that but the hospital seems a bit fiddly for his age but the playmobil 1-2-3 (younger range) is a bit too basic. So, something in between would be great but am struggling to find anything so thought I'd see if any of you have any recommendations? Thanks!
  16. Agree r.e the Horniman. Went last year and considering it was in the beautiful pavilion, they could have made a real effort to make it beautiful, but as it was, they plonked a wooden shed at the end with a far from enthusiastic Father Christmas in it. When we arrived he was putting on his fake beard in full view of the children and made no effort to ask any questions. We were in and out in a minute. All in all, very disappointing for such a family focused venue. I too would be interested in any other fairly local recommendations.
  17. And in Sainsburys on Dog Kennel Hill.
  18. Whenever I have lots of people with kids coming over I always make a lasagne. Easy to make, you can prepare it all in advance so you just have to chuck it in the oven and seems popular with most people. I make big green salads to go with it and homemade garlic bread. Just buy baguettes, cut and fill with garlic butter. All easy to prepare beforehand.
  19. As someone who has had numerous problems with DMC, I can see that I am not alone. Check out the appalling reviews on the NHS choices website... http://www.nhs.uk/services/gp/overview/defaultview.aspx?id=40451
  20. It's not the same but I find this website quite useful... http://www.findaschool.info/index.php You put in your postcode and it brings up a map with your local schools and shows what catchment areas you fall into based on the previous years admissions. You can click on the schools also to bring up additional info about each one.
  21. Hi Saffron, Sorry to hear about your experiences. I hope you don't mind, but I am acquainted with a member of staff from Gordonbrock who has read this thread and is saddened to hear of your experience and has asked me to post this message on the school's behalf.... We have noticed your thread regarding Gordonbrock Primary School and are very disappointed to hear about your concerns with our school. We would really like to speak to you in person regarding your concerns. Please contact Maria Gilmore, Head of School, via the school office to arrange a meeting.
  22. I found 14 properties for sale on upland road, although it wasn't easy as you can't seem to search by road name on their site, so I did a map search. bonaome Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > On rightmove.co.uk there's only one house for sale > on Upland Road and from your address it's not > yours. 2 bed terrace west of Barry rd? 23. Blueskies Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sadly the messy play group in rockbourne youth > club didn't start back up after the summer > holidays. It was a fantastic group, haven't found > anything like it elsewhere! No! That's so sad - it really was a fantastic class - by far the best group we went to. I wonder why it stopped?
  24. My son and I used to go to a Messy Play arts and crafts group in Forest a Hill on Thursdays at 10am. It was by far his (and my!) favourite class of the week. Basically, they get to make things, paint, play with play dough, create things, draw and generally have lots of messy fun! Massively recommend it. Details are on this previous thread... http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?25,1254805,1359603
