  1. I do hope your back garden isn?t paved as well.
  2. Southwark Life, on our doorstep this morning: Front cover: ?Seasonal shopping Support local businesses this Christmas? Continues on pages 12 and 13.
  3. We?ve started using Kapten, and found them to be much cheaper than Uber and, so far, very pleasant and efficient.
  4. Yes, it?s going to be a mural and will take about three days to complete (If anyone can lend them a cherry picker they?ll be able to go up to the top of the wall. Otherwise, they?re limited by the height of the scaffolding.)
  5. Are the councillors aware of the award-winning new council estate in Norwich ?

You won't have a problem with crowds there but what a grossly wasteful use of inner London land. Nothing against golf, but go play it in > Suffolk or Scotland or somewhere. And then we wonder why the parks are crowded.? It?s not actually ?mostly a golf course?. If you look it up on a map you?ll see that sports grounds and playing fields take up an almost equal amount of space.

  8. Quite right too.
  9. My Virgin Media is fine.
  10. ?...wiping out any prospective gains.? True, but many people are looking for a home, not an investment.

    Olive oil

The June issue of Which? recommends Waitrose 1 Chianti Classico PDO at ?2.40/100ml, and Tesco Finest Sicilian at ?1.30/ml. As well as ranking Asda, M&S, Sainsbury?s, Lidl, and Filipino Beria 100% Italian, they have a lot of advice about how to choose and use olive oil.
  12. Or, if you can?t afford ?150 for the real thing, Alan Godfrey Maps publish excellent reproductions at about ?3 each. Chener books still have a selection, but they?re hidden away so you?d have to ask.
  13. WW1 - Germans tried to starve us out by attacking US supply ships in 1917, which is why they joined in. WW2. - Germans bombing London, Liverpool etc in 1940 had no effect. Until, of course, Pearl Harbour in December 1941. It could be argued that we have a lot to thank the Japanese for !!
  14. Sue - I?ve just tried to send you a PM, but apparently it couldn?t be done because your inbox is full.
  15. Expressing an opinion isn?t necessarily trolling, surely? I (and suspect that quite a few other people) agree with Sue about the style of the shop-front, especially the superfluous ?e?s. A real old fashioned sweet shop would have called itself simply ?Sweet Shop?. Which doesn?t mean that I have any criticism of the goods on sale inside.
  16. The agent who manages my small provincial house deals with (and sends me the bills for) repairs to things like boiler/cooker/washing machine/fridge etc.
  17. Go to a branch of John Lewis. The staff are knowledgable and, most important, are not on commission and will therefore give you unbiased advice..
  18. We did exactly the same as PeckhamNicola and it?s worked very well indeed. The cupboard opposite the loo has proved invaluable.
  19. Don?t just look at Booths maps - the notebooks (on the same site) are riveting!
  20. We?ve had Virgin since we lived in the provinces and they were called NTLWorld. We stayed with them when we moved here six years ago because we were so pleased with them. They?re just as good here in SE22; if anything goes wrong their after-sales service is impeccable - they really seem to care!
  21. .
  22. Is it really the case that vets? fees are extraordinarily high? Or is it that they just seem high because we?re not presented with a bill when we have similar medical treatment?
  23. It?s the ?child with dirty feet? that amuses me.
