  1. If it's any comfort, my oldest was a typically awkward teen. So much so that I was counting the months, weeks, and days until he went to college. I don't know what they did to him, but what returned for Christmas was a delightful, fully-fledged member of the human race. And he's been like that for the past fifteen years. So don't despair.
  2. Yes, they're definitely still on North Cross!
  3. Do you have double-glazing?

  6. A picture would help (I've no idea what a chug dog looks like!)
  7. Did anyone else see the item on Sky News this morning about doctors' surgeries? Either both of the commentators live in SE22, or the DMC problems are shared by patients all over the country.

  9. If the new owner is applying for planning permission for change of use, surely it's down to the council to decide whether the street needs another estate agent more than it does a greengrocer?
  10. spider69 Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > If the freeholder wants to sell the property, why > should he be stopped? I believe the freeholder is a member of the family, and sold the property as an act of retaliation during a family dispute. Until this thread started we knew nothing about the change of use and planning proposals. No letter from the council, and the notice on the lamppost doesn't identify the property to which it refers. And I've been told that the greengrocery will be replaced by an estate agency.
  11. Wouldn't it be lovely if we could have music every Saturday?
  12. Especially the music - there's some seriously good talent round here!

We've been having the same problem on one of our TVs. The other one, which has a TiVo box, seems to be working fine.
  15. Callie Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > there was never a gallery where Myla & Davis is > now, not as far as I know Doesn't the shop displaying those wonderful mechanised models count as a gallery? If my memory serves me right, it had 'Gallery' over the door.
  16. I'm surprised that no-one's mentioned the excellent electrical shop on North Cross Road, near the chip shop.
  17. Why sell up? Why not find tenants for your present house - that'd pay the rent on your new place, and you'd still have the equity in your present house intact.
  18. Sometimes the key to the problem is just one word - "trying". I, and some of my friends, have found that once we decided to stop trying, and concentrated instead on getting on with our lives, number two happened - at a very inconvenient time, of course.
  19. What you need is a scanner (and, of course, a printer). Perhaps someone on the forum has one you could borrow?
  20. Thanks, giggirl. (I like your point about the bonuses - much more important than giving pleasure to the masses!)
  21. I'd always assumed that the BBC valued its orchestras, but it seems I was wrong. Here's a link for any ED fans of big-band jazz who'd like to sign the petition: www.savethebbcbigband.com (I'm afraid I don't know how to make the link 'active', but if you google 'BBC Big Band' the petition will appear at the top of the page.)
  22. This may sound a bit daft, but one solution might be to get another dog to keep the unhappy one company.
  23. The bus to Lewisham drops you right outside Primark. The mall contains all the usual suspects (Boots, M&S, TKMaxx, H&M....) plus the market sells fruit and veg at amazingly low prices, and there are a couple of really good fabric shops.
