More to the point, however, was that if Jens was indeed poisoned and it turned out to be the same liquid as was from the missing bottle from the evidence store, trying to find a way to unpin it from Martin is going to be impressive. The only other outcomes would be that either Jens wasn't poisoned (unlikely) or that his poisoning wasn't necessarily from the bottle and that Martin (or someone else) had taken it but for other means. Had Martin considered suicide after Mette rejected him, perhaps?

No right turn into Crystal Palace Road, why?

Or go straight on to Adys and perform a cunning U-ey in time to then go left onto EDR the next time the lights phase in your favour. The same irritation comes if you instead head up Barry and Rye Lane instead of CPR. In that case you then have to loop over the top of Peckham Rye to come back down the other side and then turn left towards Nunhead. -
london bridge trains again (6th Jan 2014)

london bridge trains again (6th Jan 2014)
MarkE replied to jcrwillcox's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
On the basis that they're operating all the West Croydon/Wimbledon/Beckenham via ED trains out of one platform, the moment that one is delayed the rest are all held up such is the restricted turnaround time at Platform 13. This thread originated on a day when they tried using (or were forced to use) other platforms and it didn't go well. Hopefully once 15/16 are back up and running in a few months we'll get some relief. That said, though, a few minutes delay on a service that runs every ten minutes is scarcely the end of the world, is it? A 20-30 minute break is perhaps going to put one out a bit, but a few minutes here or there? Really? -

Robert Poste's Child Wrote: > Still no day > without delays since at least November (which > wasn't when they did run on time, just when I > started noticing). Would suggest you've been extremely unlucky if that really is the case. Getting the train from ED around 8am and returning from LBG around 7.30 has been fine probably three or four times a week. That in itself isn't ideal, but it's nowhere near as bad as you describe in my experience. -

lane lover Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I never thought of late trains being "horrific", It's all relative. The service we get to ED is generally pretty good, and will likely be better if what I heard on the platform about longer trains comes to fruition soon. When I referred to the knock-on effects being horrific, it was more from an organisational perspective rather than as a user of the service. As for Platform 13 being relieved by Platforms 14-16, apparently once these become available, 12 and 13 will be shut, so the relief won't be that significant. -

jcrwillcox Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > All trains delayed again..... they seem to know > ones not due to leave for twenty mins r delayed! > happy new year! No idea what sparked it, but at around 5:40pm many trains were on the wrong platforms. The 5:40 (West Croydon) was on Plat 10, the 5:50 (Wimbledon) was on Plat 8 and the train on Plat 13 was for Caterham or somewhere like that. As a result, they had to wait forever to allow them to depart as they needed to cross the paths of other incoming and outgoing trains, and the windows for such activity at peak times are few and far between. The knock-on will have been horrific. -

Finally got around to signing up for Car2Go... only to find that they seem to have vanished from the area. Anyone seen any lately?

What happened to the St Thomas More Hall?
MarkE replied to minder's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Went to the Shortwave recently. Really nice venue, but didn't exactly seem desperate for our custom. -
Ventured up to Champion Hill to watch Dulwich Hamlet for the first time since moving to the area (used to follow a local non-league team in the 90s), and what a delight it was. Was quite fortunate as I thought I was going to the league game vs Maidstone - just as well the Trophy dealt a home draw! On the pitch, nice flowing football - players running with the ball interspersed with short, crisp passing. Off the pitch, a thoroughly friendly atmosphere, and probably the single largest community that Dulwich & its surrounds have to offer. Will definitely be back. Been enjoying seeing the pink and blue scarves creeping into the area over the last few weeks now that autumn has hit, so have also joined those ranks too.

New entrance to Denmark Hill station

Didn't they both lose the same link (London Bridge to Victoria inner loop) and gain the same link (Overground)? I can imagine that the number of interchanges at Peckham Rye might have increased as a result, much more than at Denmark Hill, but otherwise it's a fairly insignificant factor isn't it? -

Anyone happen to know where within Brockwell Park the fireworks are actually displayed, and/or where the viewing areas are? Ta -
If involved in an accident you're required to notify your insurer (irrespective of whether you wish to make a claim). The upside is that, if you wish, they should take this up on your behalf as an untraced claim.

Worst storm in 26 years Monday 28 October - updated 17:08
MarkE replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Just made it into the city. If anyone's thinking of getting on the buses... The 40 was get-onable all the way from the Library to the LL Post Office, but all other buses went straight through. Buses then emptied and refilled again at Denmark Hill and Elephant & Castle, so if you want a 176 or 185 my tip would be to hop onto a 40 and then change at one of those. Roads weren't too busy, it took about 40 mins to Monument from Lordship Lane. Good luck. -

What a pity this hasn't been consulted upon. That junction (of EDG and MG) is gagging for a better crossing, rather than just updating the existing Zebra. -

fabfor Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > "20% more chance of dying of stress-related > diseases under Heathrow flight path". Serious!! Doesn't seem like much, in context. If one previously had a 5% chance of dying of stress-related diseases, that becoming 6% (20% greater) having lived under the flight path wouldn't appear to be a huge leap at all. -

Saw two properties come on the market around Felbrigg a few weeks ago, both holding open houses on the same day priced at c.?800k for 3-bed terraces. They've both currently got 'Sold' signs up. You're right that supply has dropped, but when you consider the state of the economy over the course of that period since 2009 and general lack of wage inflation, it's staggering to think that the level of demand has sustained itself. Where are all these people coming from? Even if you're somehow able to secure a sizeable mortgage to the tune of ?400k, there's still the same again to be found to finance the rest... -
I don't have a vested interest in Heber, but find the topic interesting. Here's a recent Guardian article noting a not dissimilar case, and also providing some data on the number of schools awarded the different ratings by OFSTED. Strikes me from a quick peruse that the number of schools awarded 'Good' is actually increasing rather than decreasing. (from 44% three years ago to 56% now), whilst the proportion in the 'Requires improvement / Satisfactory' category dropped over the same period from 39% to 31%. This would suggest that overall schools are either improving or that the assessments are in fact less stringent than they used to be. It remains plausible that Heber could have improved over that timeframe but have been out-improved by other schools that stayed in the 'Good' bracket whilst the criteria were toughened up. Likewise, it's entirely possible that one set of assessors viewed the same school differently, or saw different perspectives of the same school. It happens, whether one likes it or not. Alternatively, it could genuinely have worsened. It presumably doesn't take a huge change to drop from, say, the bottom end of the 'Good' bracket to the top end of the 'Satisfactory' bracket. That happens too (although it might be going some to convince most on this thread, it would seem).

Should Melbourne Grove be 20mph?
MarkE replied to James Barber's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It depends upon where those measurements are taken. I walk the stretch of Melbourne Grove between Chesterfield Grove and East Dulwich Grove both ways each day and very rarely see cars exceeding ~10-15mph, largely due to the volume of cars parked on both sides of the street. I'd agree that driving in excess of 20mph on that particular stretch would be quite dangerous, but fail to believe that many drivers would get up to that speed anyway.
