It was a simple typo! I have no intention of redistributing a single penny of my own. After all, other parties didn't redistribute the energy or effort required to make my wad. I am reminded of the excellent story of the Little Red Hen.

If I was a card-cloner or Internet fraudster I would be laughing all the way to the bloody bank! We are now being told that criminal offences are not to be the preserve of the police! The recent experience with a local retailer that seemed to be the hub of a card-scam may be a case in point! How many people were reporting card-fraud to the local HSBC with absolutely no certainty that the matter was being passed any further - ie. to the police. One has to wonder whether banks etc, who might wish to protect themselves from bad publicity, are really going to be vigorous in bringing the scale of fraud to official attention. It is interesting to note that, as far as I can see, no official representative of any bank, police or official body has made any contribution to this discussion. Am I right about that? Is any such person monitoring this discussion able to comment?

What surprises me about GBK is the completely soulless nature of the staff. As might be expected the staff appear to be young East European women who, unfortunately appear to be completely devoid of personality. Young East European women can have personality and humour - just look at the girls in Mon Petit Chou!

If you are having difficulty registering you can contact the local health authority and they will tell you what practices are 'open' to register new patients. If the surgery declines to do so they can be ordered to accept you as a patient. I went a couple of years ago to register at a local practice and, after filling in all the forms they gave me, they then told me they had no spaces for new patients (which begs the question why did they ask me to fill in the forms in the first place if 15 minutes later they turn me away?). I contacted the local health authority who told me that the surgery in question was listed by them as 'open'. I told them I had been declined. They told me to ring back after they had 'had a word'. I contacted the health authority again and they told me to go again to the surgery who miraculously found a space for me!!! I can only imagine that the receptionist at the surgery decided I did not look 'profitable' enough for them and chanced her arm declining me until she was leant on by the health authority! Makes you wonder.

I quite agree with Keef. Unfortunately, these types of things continue to happen because no-one actually makes those responsible accountable! Imagine what you would do, what boundaries you would push, if you knew you would get away with it! Another course of action might be to consult Liberty, the civil rights organisation and take advice from them. Shae the hell out of those responsible by trying to get the matter publicised in the South London Press or other local paper as well. Whoever these people were, there is a good chance we are paying for them...so act!

Let me ask a simple question. If Southwark Council introduced a men-only session due to the fact that they were aware that some Muslim men found it shocking and offensive to have to bathe in the presence of scantily-clad western female "hussies', how long do you think it would be before that provision was torn to shreds (and rightly so!)?

I am only concerned about what will be done with the police who live there now. They clearly aren't a very bright or capable lot and if we put them somewhere where they really could do something (eg. access to firearms, radios, fast-cars, flashing blue lights, Tasers etc) there could be real harm done. I thought that was why they had stables and horses there for them to get around - ie. it is very difficult to crash a horse! Indeed, if we could train the horses to answer the phones and take statements, we could get rid of all the coppers and people would probably notice a distinct improvement in the quality of service!

Curious to know. When does a group of shops become a 'chain'? Apparently Strada is ok because there are only about 10 of them. If there were 11 would that tip the balance in making them the unacceptable face of corporate, global, satanic, world-dominating, environment devastating, indigenous-people oppressing, neo-Fascist capitalist pigs? Or would they have to get to 12 shops first?
