  1. And Waverly gym is open to public?
  2. Where is Waverley gym please? Also, re house prices. Be aware that many informed observers are predicitng a housing crash within the next two years. And please don't tell me that they have always been saying that because they haven't. Just something to ponder.
  3. All has become clear. The banging sounds recently reported in the ED area have been traced back to their source. The bouncers at Licquorish have been indulging in macho, display behaviour whereby they charge head-first into walls in an effort to see who makes the biggest dent! Fear not, their brains were removed from their skulls some time ago so no meaningful injuries have been reported.
  4. Win-win for everyone except the male bouncers who are told that their services are unwelcome due solely to their gender. Snorky, the arguement you put forward could be extended to almost any other domain. For example, there are some patients who go into hospital and object to being treated by a female doctor or by a doctor from an ethnic minority who has come to the UK to train and work. Such patients may kick up a right old stink and refuse to co-operate with the female or ethnic origin doctor. Do we indulge that and employ only white, male doctors? Of course not. What about a woman who takes a job on a building site with an almost exclusively male worlforce. She is likely to attract all manner of stick, hassle, harrassment which could disrupt the working environment. Do we ban said female from the building trade on grounds that she is likely to provoke the above-mentioned responses? Course not. Or rather, we could, but the building firm/hospital/NHS Trust in question would find itself in an Employment Tribunal so fast its head would be spinning.
  5. An afterthought! Perhaps Nero simply wants to see female bouncers as they could fulfill the role of "eye-candy" for male punters, in which case the posting is, in our trendy, PC, 'right-on' (excuse me, I am about to vomit!) community, equally offensive.
  6. Of course the solution to the problem would be "female bouncers"....not! I assume that Nero is indulging in the sexist stereotype that all men are inherently aggressive and threatening, whilst all women are nurturing, caring and given to compromise rather than confrontation. I think we should take this interesting indulgence in gender stereotypes a little bit further and encourage woman to withdraw from the workplace on the grounds that they are weepy, unbalanced and irritable for several days a month? Anyway, if all that compromise and caring didn't work and the s**t hit the fan, would you really want a female bouncer? She might not want to wade in and sort it out in case she broke a nail!! Also, unless there are some absurd exclusions in the overall legislation, the practice of appointing or refusing to appoint an employee on the grounds of his/her gender is unlawful! DISCLAIMER: Since some of my previous postings on the issue of gender equality seem to have been completely misunderstood by some of the meatheads on this forum, who apparently are of limited intellignce and who have no concept of irony, sarcasm etc, let me clarify the following points: 1. I do NOT think that women are constantly worried about breaking their nails - I am offering this notion in a tongue in cheek manner to highlight the equally absurd gender stereotypes proferred in Nero's post. 2. I do NOT believe that all woman are weepy, unbalanced and irritable for several days a month. See above point for explanation.
  7. You are not in Goodfellas - you are in The Truman Show! Had you really not noticed?
  8. Someone had dropped a piece of litter and the Firearms Squad hadn't been allowed to play with their guns for a while. They don't like to send them out against anyone who is actually capable of shooting back - just not cricket!
  9. Nothing to do with Alleyn's, you mad, gullible fools!!!! It is me driving around with my Loud Bangy Thingy!!!! Bwah-ha-ha! Soon you will all learn the meaning of insanity (unless I get a puncture which would f**k things up slightly and temporarily delay my plans to take over the world!)
  10. Another fine option.
  11. I think DM should be placed in charge of discipline and should be quite ruthless because there are some very bad boys here who need disciplined. I know I am one ;)
  12. Hugenot, just watch the xG share price over the next year or two. We will see. Obviously it is inevitable that any revolutionary technology is going to ellicit skepticism and doubt to begin with but the evidence is coming together to show that this is more than snake-oil. Bear in mind that companies listing on the AIM market of the LSE have to undergo considerable scrutiny and Due Diligence by their Nomad. Also be aware that both National Grid and Telefonica in Mexico (a leading UK utilities company and the Mexican branch of one of the world's largest telecoms companies) have taken xG seriously enough to have already signed exclusive territory agreements with the company. Can we perhaps assume that they have seen enough to engage their significant attention?
  13. And everyone could take take turns sitting in the pram gazing up at DM's bosom? Top idea!
  14. My earlier child-hostile comments aside, I think chess in the park would be an extremely good and civilised idea. I would certainly partake if timing was right. I think the idea of having fixed tables with a chessboard surface might work - ie. if you want to play chess use them for that, if not other park-goers could use them as a simple picnic-table. All you would need to bring along would be the chess pieces and I have a couple of sets that I would be able to bring.
  15. Chap called Brian Damage (BRAIN Damage...gedditttt??) at the Bedford in Balham a few years ago. Played guitar and told jokes....EXTREMELY funny. Best act by far on a reasonably good night. Take my mother-in-law. No, please, really, somebody take her. Boom boom! It's the way I tell him.
  16. I am intrigued by the statement that shares in xG Technology are cheap. This statement implies that the company is undervalued meaning that it has greater value than is currently reflected in the share price. I take it this is a tacit endorsement of the company. The company floated at $4.50 and is currently over $13. An impressive movement in a matter of a few months. It is true that the company raised no money at float however they have just completed a $40 million fundraising through a convertible preference share option. The company at flotation had made it clear that they did not actually need to raise any money to execute their business plan - the attempt to raise money was simply a function of the IPO. There was considerable interest in the company from the very outset - conservative fund-management appears to have discouraged actual investment until initial commercial network was up and running, which is now happening in Daytona, Florida. Many people may make vast amounts of money from this company. Many others may come to regret not taking a punt.
  17. I am not happy - I just broke a nail! Sniff!
  18. I heartily agree. In fact we could arrange for local primary schools to dress children up as the various chess pieces and the players could simply stand with a megaphone and direct the little brats where to move on a 'board' made by cleverly mowing a piece of lawn to create a chessboard effect. When they 'took' another piece they would have to do so with a bit of fisticuffs and the whole thing could be filmed by people on their mobile phones! During long games, if any of them needed to go to the loo they would just have to stay where they were and wet themselves in public causing enormous humilation and psychological scarring!
  19. I believe xG actually only needs one base station per thousand square miles! That is the figure I heard.
  20. I am very concerned about all this talk of pumping money into the pool. Surely what is required is water! Idiots, how can one swim in paper or metal coinage?
  21. Norn Irish waitress you refer to is no longer working at Black CHerry but is still around ED. SHe has radically changed her hairstyle (must admit I loved the dark coloured bob) but is still foxy!
  22. I suspect Dulwich Dad simply initiated this thread to brag about the trendy, meedja lifestyle he leads - all referred to, of course, as a simple aside, as if it is simply sooOOOO tiresome to be as successful as he is. Or is Dulwich Dad, maybe, just maybe, subtly taking the 'p' out of another contributor to this site??? I think we should be told! BTW, does travelling to from ED to London count as a 'commute'?
  23. My objecion relates to parents who make no attempt to restrain or discipline their kids. My mum certainly went out but it would have been a cold day in hell that I was allowed to get on and create mayhem the way so many of the local kids seem allowed to. I know a local retailer who is driven to distraction by kids in his shop who are regularly allowed by their parents to run amok, knocking over displays, pulling items off shelves etc. Said retailer feels unable to comment for fear of offending parents who would then probably use a forum like this to brand the shop "child hostile!" or some such nonsense. The most the parents seem to come out with is the occasional "Darling, don't!" but of course 'Darling' DOES and no further attempt is made to discipline or dissuade. I don't think it unreasonable to expect to be able to go somewhere in ED for a quiet snack or drink without feeling that one has walked into a kindergarten! Just as you (quite rightly, within reason) champion the rights of mums with kids, so I think it is reasonable to champion the rights of adults without kids who are quite happy for kids to be around the place but expect that they be under some sort of control.
  24. Leave the foxes alone and eliminate the greater scourge - toddlers and babies. I have just spent the last few hourse being driven to distraction by the assorted un-restrained sprogs in various ED eateries. First, a quick bite in the Dulwich Cafe where I was treated to a 20 minute percussion lesson by a child in a high-chair possessed of a ceramic cup and metal sppon. No attempt was made by parents to dissuade said brat. Thence to Cafe Nero where I sipped a latte to the accompaniment of screaming babies, having navigated my way through the collection of armoured vehicles that these days pass for 'prams'. Having had my relaxed sip there completely destroyed I sought some form of solace in what I believed might be the reasonable adult and sedate mid-afternoon surroundings of the Black Cherry. Immediately after I entered I spied two prams and a couple of mothers babies clutched to their breasts in what appeared to be the process of burping. Babies/toddlers dont know better - adults should. End this scourge! Out with the weaponry!
  25. Personally I sheathe my card in a good quality condom and, to date, this has been an effective protection.
