  1. StraferJack this is exactly what I mean! "To get extra time in bed" socks and shoes on the bus? Is it really necessary? And where does the loose hair from your dry shave end up? All over the seats which some poor unsuspecting person is forced to sit on after you! And as for deodorant.. astonishing. Ie written a short email to TfL and am awaiting a response as I couldn't find anything on their website regarding the application and use of potentially toxic materials. Louisa.
  2. What does balls deep mean? Louisa.
  3. I think it's a very great British pastime to celebrate your class and background. I don't think this particular class calculator is especially accurate, and people will often naturally feel differently to the result they get from said test. I grew up in a very working class household, outside toilet, family of 4/5 crammed into small damp ridden Victorian property in Peckham. Culturally I feel more aligned to old working class London than this affluent middle class culture which has sprung up around here. But financially, I might no longer fit into that group any longer. It's all very confusing. Louisa.
  4. People on the EDF who complain about other people on the EDF who have issues with etiquette. Louisa.
  5. Maybe that's where I've been going wrong then. Thanks for the tip. Louisa.
  6. I've never come across racist rice, but I've come across over cooked rice before. Louisa.
  7. Jane Hill when pressed by Matthew Amroliwala on BBC News 24 said she was " quite high up the scale" when she took the test. Maybe she lives in ED too? Louisa.
  8. I spend most of my day in the kitchen. Opening bottles of wine and unpacking bottles of wine. So I guess, you're right Huguenot, in my context that is my worldview. Long may it continue! Louisa.
  9. RosieH there's no excuse for violence. The best way to get your own back on a "sexist man" is to spit in his dinner. Louisa.
  10. I'd love to know the breakdown of the entire population of ED post-gentrification. I would imagine, most wouldn't be traditional middle class because they have money, and we all know the poor but supposedly cultured move to ED cos they can't afford Clapham and Islington hehe Louisa.
  11. KK - we all know the damage leaking battery acid can do. However, a wrapped clean adult toy in its box and carrier bag would be harmless. Louisa.
  12. Well Ann summers refuse to let back after my little argument over mislabeling of rabbits, so that's a non-starter. And laptop? What's one of those? Louisa.
  13. What happens if you visit pie 'n mash shops, attend the opera, and have an accountant as a good friend? Louisa.
  14. Thanks for that little nugget Vicanna. Good job I won't be using my video player on a bus or train then! Louisa.
  15. I think the title should be 'inconsiderate foundations' As a woman I too have no issue with the title, but I can appreciate why others would and it is somewhat unfortunate because it takes away from the seriousness of the subject matter. I wonder does anyone know what the opinion of TfL is regarding cosmetics and use of other items on public transport? Louisa.
  16. Anyone know where I can get hold of a copy of 'Debbie Does Dallas' on VHS? Louisa.
  17. Just done the test and had to do some tweaking to get the answer I wanted. I'm now happily Traditional Working Class, despite some stupid question about property value. So I can rest easy in my bed knowing I'm one of the few remaining Cockney sparra's left in the city they abandoned for suburban Essex, Kent and Herts all those years ago. An old School ED'er, no bugaboos or organic muesli in this house! Louisa.
  18. I wanted to know why the "virtually fat free milk" had been re-labelled as skimmed, why is that such a crime? What was the point in giving it a new name anyway? Ridiculous. Louisa.
  19. DJKQ - I think more research needs to be done following the animal studies. If a human study is carried out, at least then any potential dangers could be unearthed and discussed by national government and down to the lower tiers within council chambers across the country. A bus, train/tube carriage is a restricted space and fresh air isn't always in abundance. Especially during hot spells. My view is that until a study is carried out, the possible or potential risk is large enough for signs to be put up to at the very east encourage people not to spend time doing potentially health damaging things. The point is you can't say, well smoking and drinking alcohol are banned, but it's ok to eat peanuts or talk on a phone. civilservant - my argument is that application of cosmetics in a shared public space is morally wrong, and has the potential to cause health risks to others. DJKQ argues that the evidence relating to the health issues isn't powerful enough. I argue that that is irrelevant because the same was said abut smoking not too many years ago. Louisa.
  20. Decent punt Pickle. Louisa.
  21. David Teninch dunnit Louisa.
  22. http://www.healthfoodemporium.com/index_dangerous-ingredients.php I've had a read up on this and the mention of environmental cancers, is quite a frightening link. I did not want to post this earlier because people will try to rip it apart, but if medical and scientific studies currently unpublished back up any such claims then certain cosmetics could be hazardous to lots of people. Less than half a century ago people were working with asbestos unmasked until it was found that it could cause untold numbers of health problems. Louisa.

Ah so that makes it ok does it DJKQ? > > There is no evidence...and data and evidence is > what counts... why is it? how is it? Are you up on all the latest data from science around the world? not all of it is published into the public forum so we are only guessing and/or relying on CURRENT published data. > the claims can provide no damning evidence either, > which is just bad science, and designed to fool > the public into thinking there's a problem when > there isn't. The claims might not be able to supply this damning evidence you ask for DJKQ, but numerous people are put at risk, potentially (apparently there is no published evidence, I disagree) from unknown chemicals which could in a small space create and or enhance existing conditions. What about asthma? We just do not know. I'm glad some other people are finally coming out in full support of my views on here. I spent a rather chilly afternoon in Dulwich Park munching on an ice cream thinking about all of this and whether I had overstepped the mark in my countering DJKQ and her argument. I've now read through recent posts and come to the conclusion I'm more mind made up on this topic than ever. I know I'm right. Louisa.
  24. I remember when that was the police station. Beautiful building inside and ample parking out the back for police cars. Louisa.
  25. I saw Cheryl Baker of Bucks Fizz fame on North Cross Road - Saturday afternoon. Louisa.
