  1. Gutted to hear that. It's how they got into ours too. Sad, worthless people. Yeah keep an eye on gumtree!
  2. Dear Ludlow Thompson, Your attempt at direct marketing has, unfortunately, had the effect of making you look like a lecherous suitor. No. No I will not be calling you.
  3. Going to ignore the last comment very quickly before it turns into a firestorm... Sorry to hear this Natalie, and feel your pain as the same thing happened to us in March. May I ask how they got in, and did they bypass any security features? )If I remember correctly, you need to ask to add any sightings or suspicions to the police intel team. This doesn't always happen with the team that come out to see you.)
  4. ?90 - 100k - wow! I had heard around ?75k from friends who've had it done.
  5. Has anyone else experienced this? I recently had a parcel go missing which I posted from the post office on FHR. It's been three weeks and the recipient still hasn't got it. In the past year I've had three other parcels sent First Class which took between 6-9 working days to arrive, all of which were sent from FHR... hmmm
  6. Please can anyone recommend a half decent GP in East Dulwich? Forest Hill Road Group Practice are diabolical and getting worse. You're usually on hold for 15 - 20 mins after which there's never any appointments outside of 9:30 - 4:30.
  7. Thanks for sharing the petition. Right, back to work..
  8. Searched the forum but nothing came up...but does anyone know what street Enid Blyton grew up on in East Dulwich? Or is there a blue plaque?
  9. Yes Gary Vu is awesome! Cheery and no nonsense.
  10. Agree! I know it's a chain but even a Boots would be great. Still love ED though, whatever happens
  11. Really feel for you TeaD, it's shocking when they yell at you and don't give explanation. Doesn't sound to me like you didn't do anything wrong in response. (Adonirum - kinda sad that you feel the need to go through peoples' previous posts and try stitch up a narrative. Who does that?! KalamityKel - taking Adronirum's advice, perhaps you should find something better to do with your ample time than pollute the forum with your frequent vitriol. Six thousand posts!) Also R Gustell - agree. My dad used to drive buses and he said it was like being a social worker at times! He loved it though, and took pride and dignity if he had to show the rule book. There's a sweet driver who does the P13 run who says 'hello' to everyone who gets on and genuinely looks like he loves his job. I salute those people.
  12. Hi I'd really love to know the pains, pitfalls and prices of extending a kitchen in a Victorian terraced house. If anyone here has had it done, I'd be super grateful to know how you went about it and how much it cost (feel free to PM if you'd rather not mention money on the forum). Ideally we'd like to go from the skinny awkward space to a wider kitchen diner. Considering the 3m that's within planning, versus a longer space that would require planning. Thanks!
  13. Agree, and what are agents actually doing for their fee? If properties are selling themselves, an estate agent's life must be a walk in the park in the current climate.
  14. My bad - by 'the super rich' I did mean those with 6 figure incomes/ can buy a ?1m property. I guess that's not so shocking in London anymore. (Off to smash open my piggy bank and move to Weston Super mare)
  15. So what will East Dulwich et al look like in 4 years? Those who bought when ED was less chi-chi & have stayed First time buyers who are over stretched on their mortgages? And the super rich who don't mind paying over the odds.
  16. I'm no economist but the behaviour feels like mass hysteria, akin to the gold rush. Surely the lack of supply and high demand has to plateau at some point. I have no need to move (yet) so I'm watching the hysteria from afar but it does strike me that this isn't sustainable. Or maybe it's because I have friends who went into sealed bids and paid ?19,000 over asking price because they were 'scared not to'. Insane
  17. Sorry to reopen this wound. Just sitting with the Sunday papers which are now saying prices are likely to be up 8% again this year. What do you all make of this? Is now the time to pack up the rugrat and the dog and move, lest we're not able to ever again? And are people in East Dulwich *really* paying those crazy-assed prices that I see in the estate agent windows?
  18. I'm surprised at the negative comments. We went a few days ago and absolutely loved it. Great interiors, jolly but calm atmosphere, friendly and helpful waitresses, excellent food (who knew mac n cheese could be so good?). Whatsmore, the chef even popped out to ask if our meal was ok. Big thumbs up from me to The Flying Pig.
  19. That's a great post. Overhead a few conversations recently with people moaning about kings (particularly ante natal care), including complaining is not as good as private (!) I do think NHS staff get a hard time from joe public, yet are some of the most dedicated selfless people work for them. Danny Boyle got it right!
  20. Thanks all. Uncleglen - in my view, the tfl journey planner is not always the most intuitive, and doesn't match up to peoples' own experiences, eg reliability of lines like Thameslink. I will be attempting the journey on 2nd so thanks for all your help.
  21. I have a travel card so not fussed about how much it costs. The quicker the better! *Sigh* I wish ED had a tube..
  22. Da Silva - and you didn't get bus sick? I was worried that the bus would just get stuck in traffic. Louise C - Oddly, Google Maps is now telling me to go on the 185/176 to Waterloo then hop on the Northern line. Is there a reason you preferred Victoria? Thanks so much!
