Planning Application for 1 Lordship Lane
Freddy1929 replied to Freddy1929's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
The Developer has withdrawn the Application for this development, I would like to think it was because of the objections, but I'm sure they will be back, with some alterations to the Plan, I wait in anticipation................... -

People who live around the development and their wellbeing? I don't want to hear the argument that if this development does not go ahead the building will be left to go to ruin and it will be worse..... Also explain why a B&B doesn't create additional waste? -
Dulwich Medical Centre - Any good?

When I first moved here about 13 years ago, I registered with the DMC, and at first they were very good. But recently it has been very difficult to get appointments, if you want an emergency appointment on the day you have to start ringing about 8am,and if you are luck you may get one of the appointments. Recently I had a chest infection which would not clear up, so I tried to get an appointment, could not get one of the emergency appointments ( my arthritic fingers are obviously too slow to redial!!), and the next scheduled appointment was 2 weeks!! I asked would it be possible for me to call in and just wait.... I was desperate by then....the advice was to go to KCH A&E!! As KCH has a big banner outside trying to discourage people from going to A&E for things that a GP can deal with, I felt it wasn't an option. So I went to the GP's walk-in centre at the Lister Health Centre, waited about 1 hour and a very nice GP gave me a prescription, and the infection cleared up in a week. What has happened to some of our GP practices? -

There is a paragraph (very small!!) in the planning application regarding waste, and it is basically saying the continued use of three large bins placed on the pavement in Spurling Rd, no real acknowledgement of an increase in waste that this development will produce. Anyone with a pram, or in a wheelchair, will have to go into the road to get past these bins, and cyclist think they have problems in Spurling rd!! I haven't got an objection to the development of a B & B establishment, but dealing with waste is so often forgotten with developments. I know this may seem radical but could the bins not been placed in the road, yes I know this would mean the loss of a couple of parking spaces,(told you it was radical!!) at least it would mean a clear path for pedestrians and disabled! -

Just had an email from Southwark Council to say that the plans for the application will be scanned and uploaded today, so I shall look forward to seeing the Environmental Impact Assessment. -
I'm painting my front room! so I'm glad I'm not going out!! It is very windy, and the snow is blowing around! can't believe this time last week we had that big orange thing in the sky and I had windows open, thought it was spring!! What would we talk about if it wasn't for our wonderful weather.........

Planning Application for 1 Lordship Lane

Hi I have no objection to more B&B accommodation in the area, I myself live in a very small one bedroom flat, and when I have any visitors I am always looking for good quality B&B accommodation reasonably priced. I just want to know how they are going to deal with the waste. -
I have just received a letter from Southwark Council regarding a planning application for 1 Lordship Lane, I think this is East Dulwich Tavern, having looked on Southwark planning applications on line, there are no documents to view, the letter says the consultation period started 10/3/13, on line it says 1/3/13. The planning application is for extensions at 1st and 2nd floor levels fronting on to Spurling Rd, new mansard roof at 3rd floor level and second floor fronting Lordship Lane and alterations to internal layout to provide additional 7 bed and breakfast rooms, 12 in total. My concern is what are the plans for dealing with the waste, currently there are two large paladins situated on the pavement in Spurling Rd, often overflowing with bottles, which makes it practically impossible for pedestrians to walk on the pavement, 12 bed and breakfast rooms would obviously increase the waste produced, where is it going to be stored? I have emailed Southwark asking for copies of the plans, in the meantime I'm sure that EDF members will have something to say.......

Louisa I do agree with you, reading all these moans about parking/traffic - we live in London, there are a lot of Cars about!! If you want a place where you can always find a parking space, and never have a traffic jam, move to the country!! Having a M&S on the high street would be a benefit to the area, an empty shop of that size would be a disaster, and the high street would die, I remember M&S leaving Rye Lane the effect was immediate.

Hi I went to Wembley Arean for Orientation Training, Saturday morning, it was great! I have a test event at the Aquatic Centre in March, I getting very excited, and if any one says anything negative about the Olympics, I get very verbal!! I would rather the money be spent on the Olympics than another Tridant......

Is the Salvation Army coming to Lordship Lane to sing Carols this year, or have I missed them already? Once I hear them singing Carols I know Christmas is here. I'm an atheist, but I'm very fond of the Salvation Army, they do some incredible work for homeless people. Also my Dad (also an atheist!) was in Submarines during the war, and he always use to say that were ever he docked during the war, the Salvation Army were always there, and he could always get a wash, cup of tea and a meal! So when ever I see them with a collecting tin, I always put a few quid in, for me Dad. When they sing Carols, it always brings a tear to me eye!

Hi just to give you an update on my roll as a Gamesmaker, I'm attending a Test Event on the Olympic park this week for training, it is great, walking across the Olympic Park is amazing it is so BIG! To give you an idea of the size, it takes less time for me to go from East Dulwich Station to Stratford station, than for me to walk from Stratford Station through the Westfield shopping centre and across the Olympic Park to the Handball arena! Seeing all the different sports arena's is aweinspiring, some are going to be permanant others are temporary and will be taken down after the Games. A lot of thought and planning seems to have gone into achieving a lasting legacy after the games. I'm delivering printed scores/statistics sheets around the arena, and having a great time, I'm doing something so different from my usual day job, I have been issued with T-shirts and an anorack, with 'London Prepares' on the back! Which I'm very proud to wear, so if you see me around East Dulwich - say hello!!

Hi James I see I have asked the question about the crossings before! Please accept my apologise from someone who's memory is failing! glad to hear the crossings are going to be put in after Xmas, very sensible! -
Can I say how great my bin men are (or should I say waste collection operatives....) they ALWAYS put my bins back in the front of my house, they are always polite, and we often share a joke!! I live just off Goose Green roundabout, and their large vehicle does stop the traffic for a few minutes, BUT IT'S NOT THEIR FAULT!! It must be a tough job, and I bet not well paid, so I do appreciate them, keep up the good work!, and compared to other Boroughs, Southwark's waste collection is one of the best, their bulk waste collection is still free, commpared to other Boroughs that charge extra.

What has happened to the new crossings that were due to be built in Lordship Lane, by the Co-op and another by the Bishop? Has Southwark council decided not to go ahead? -
