Post not being delivered by Royal Mail
Twoddle replied to gazzam's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
It's all ground to a halt for me. Last letter I got was dated 20th September and received on the 10th October or so. Further letters and deliveries I've been expecting have simply not turned up at all. Chased one up on the 17th October for redelivery, nothing... -
Recently saw a UPS van drive 30mph straight through the red light while traffic was already crossing. Could have been nasty. Driver then did a U-turn fully mounting the pavement near pedestrians because he was going the wrong way anyway. Before there were lights at that Colyton Road/Forest Hill Road junction I can tell you accidents and near misses were more frequent. The traffic may or may not flow faster without lights but there are more accidents in the long run. Strangely, there seemed to be more incidents on quiet days when you would expect the opposite. Now if only when the council put up your traffic camera they would also do something about that Co-op lorry that parks on double yellows with its engine running for hours on end blocking the view of the nearside traffic light to approaching UPS vans. Maybe actually put a traffic warden on patrol there, I've never ever seen one.

Gaelic football a few weeks back.

Around here we had pneumatic drills going at 2:30am in the middle of the night last week. They seemed to be digging a giant hole in the middle of the road in preparation for work the next day. Didn't bother me too much personally, I was up anyway but it was a bit weird.

Sainsbury's bakery on Dog Kennel Hill. Had a weird experience last time I went. I put 2 rolls in a bag and spun it round while holding the corners to seal the bag as you do. Unfortunately I learned that the bottom of their paper bags are extremely weak and the 2 rolls went through the bottom and got launched across the shop much to the unamusement of a passerby. So I changed the rolls for a seeded crusty baton. Did not regret, it tasted exquisite going into the next day and was finished off the day after.

Poundstretcher had a half price sale then disappeared for good a few months back. The cashier told me Lidl were planning on using it as a warehouse. Shame, they were good for odds and sods, or for when Lidl didn't have the new frying pan you needed in the middle aisle.

Youtube has many videos of people using this thing, some of them show people reattaching the saw. To me it looks like it screws back on with a wing nut, n̶o̶t̶ ̶s̶u̶r̶e̶ ̶w̶h̶a̶t̶ ̶y̶o̶u̶ ̶m̶e̶a̶n̶ ̶b̶y̶ ̶c̶l̶i̶p̶. Nevermind, I see it now.

Thanks, although Morrisons in Peckham will probably be my choice until they open up again.

Lime bikes (and other hire companies) left in middle of pavement
Twoddle replied to first mate's topic in Roads & Transport
Never used one myself, the web site is rather minimalist and says nothing about where you're supposed to leave them although I wouldn't just leave it in the middle of the pavement with a puncture like one I just saw! -
Lidl in Peckham is closed from 30th July to 27th October for a new paint job. Went in there this afternoon and staff were emptying the shelves while I could at least get a half decent shop in. Next nearest store is Old Kent Road. Was a Co-op shopper but prices are silly now except for stuff like eggs, broccoli and baked beans.

New traffic calming and cycle lane on Sydenham Hill

You wanna try Canonbie Rd. haha. -
The ladybird invasion rings a bell, back when we had grass for a front garden.

Still can't turn off for example, "Users can contact me by email" in Edit global settings due to a "The language you specified is not valid." error.

Clicking the spanner menu allows you to subscribe to a topic or a forum but the checkmark is shown against "Subscribe" when you are not subscribed and vice versa. Perhaps the checkmark is designed to tell you that clicking it will subscribe you but it is not the convention and seems counterintuitive.

I'm not Joe :-) but could you post an example. This is a pound sign £ (posting from Ubuntu). Does it appear as a pound to you? Seems all £ signs from the old forum got lost in the move due to character encoding issues.

Hosepipe bans and playing outside. Man Utd lost to Southampton in the FA cup final that year 0 - 1, Bobby Stokes the scorer.

I preferred the older days of smaller shops when we were happier and we knew the shopkeepers. The Co-op doesn't really add anything but takes away what we had and makes us miserable cos some people have pounds in their eyes and wanna make a few quid.

Any chance of a couple more pull-up and dip bars around Peckham Rye Common? There's only one set where the outdoor gym is and it's annoying when they're contested and the pull-ups bars are a tad too low, even the tall ones. The dip bars next to that seating and table enclosure in the south half got shamelessly taken down a few years ago and never replaced. Same with that climbing frame that was next to the nursery in the middle.

On the spitting thing I will try to gob into a tissue or a bin but sometimes rarely I am caught short. Pollution and people who smoke in shared buildings are massively to blame, it's horrible. We go outside to exercise to get fresh air and toxic phlegm has to be coughed out.

They refused to change my ?20 note for the launderette once, the post office used to be the place to go for that sort of thing.
