Edkiwi I would be interested. P...hill is taking over as we speak. The 6 shops snorky mentions sold last year in auction in one block were sold as investment for ?2.5m so not much will change there . I would love to lease to local people, I currently do, a couple on LL. Very hard to buy anything else as certain agents are in with certain developers. Let me know if anyone else is interested, quaywe, along shot but you never know :o)))

That "white woman" i knew her. She was certifiable and locked up. The black couple louisa is referring to have some sort of mental disorder, not sure which though. They come into our stores all the time very briefly and are harmless.

tjs..... you are so right, parkhill own half of LL. Difficult for us little landlords to buy anything and deal with local business. They own the proposed new gymn aswell. Whatever they own you can be sure will be a chain (Like caffe nero) as they own that too. But then again you never know, the new kitchen shop isnt a chain, nor is green and blue.....but that is a tiny selection in their porfolio...........

sounds good to me, where and when? ;o)

I like pistacchio club, nice and spacious and good food. acedout ( do you play tennis?), by the way the girl in Tandoori nights is not french but from eastern europe. Not nice to say which is the worst restaurant i think.:o) K

Being a trader, resident and landlord on LL have noticed alot of eastern european people wearing coloured scarfs blatantly going up to people in their face and begging in the area all of a sudden. Two of the girls have tried to pass on a dodgy 50 pound note but we refused it.They were trying to scam us. Alot of other shops experienced the same so if there are any other shopkeepers on this forum please share info. The police have an alertbox system that shops can sign up for free that sends messages and alarms to all thats signed up. Between guns, robbers and scammers we really need to keep on top of this to keep east dulwich and London the great place that it is. :o) K

Caffe Nero planning application review (Update - refused)
karter replied to Quaywe's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I am a retailer close to caffe' nero, initially alot of us didn't like the idea of them coming in. It's wrong that they have handled it the corporate bullyish way and being cocky by thinking they would get planning consent ( after opening). However the shop itself has been of benefit and use and has brought new people to the area. As a retailer I can see this. It hasn't really impacted on our coffee shop business friends.Competition makes a business restructure and be inventive. Alot of buggies and wheelchairs can get it, which is great. It can be noisy sometimes due to the toddlers and babies screaming their heads off oh and the mothers too, but hey fair enough. Muttley.....just as well they charge for their wireless internet by the hour other wise lots of people would be in there freeloading and without a coffee. Then again I think alot of people in there and in the know freeload off other connections anyway . ;-) K -

About the so called retailer thats skimming and cloning cards, my friend will be in the South London Press next week as they came to to take a foto and interview him, he was one of the many friends and locals that was ripped off and still hasnt got money back. They will not mention the retailer but a warning will be issued further afield than the ed forum. The SLP know about the forum and are checking it for updates too.Anyone else's card been skimmed recently? -

Quaywe (or is it colombo?) you are right, the system here is diabolical. My friends/colleagues will have to wait up to 12 weeks for a repayment. Was just told by one of the shopkeepers that he too had waitied 3 months to get his money back.I dont think alot of people will be able to buy steaks out, more like a cheap burger instead. -
huguenot, erm chou does not use sauces out of a packet, they are freshly made by an Italian chef. Go and ask for mimmo, he is the chef, he may even give you a few tips on how to make the sauces. Yes G&B do paninis and baps too.

I own several properties in the area and lordship lane (commercial) and am a landlord but would not necessarily lease out to corporate chains ( even though I have been approached). I know of the company you are talking about Vicksg and it seems that he wants the big boys to take over the area but landlords like myself try to preserve individuality of the area. There is something we can do, we can continue to support our local traders.B)

Castellos had been there for many years, however there is a place in ed that makes handmade pizzas by an authentic italian chef and they are absolutely delicious. Its on Lordship lane at Mon petit chou. Theyve been doing pizza and pasta for a couple of months now and are opening a wine bar too for the evening.
