Dear Alan, I would recommend looking in the area of Bellenden for a hse - slightly cheaper than ED, but often (like ourselves) actually closer to Ed station or P Rye (which is better transport link wise but smellier).

Has anyone been to The(very hard to get into for a Sunday lunch) Herne Tavern? Is it worth the week or 2 to book ahead?

Could not agree more RosieH. I personally chose to live in the Bellenden area for the choice, as I feel I can be transient according to need. Although I am nearer Lordship Lane shops, I can easily justify frequent trips to Peckham for Woolworths, Jean's fabric shop, (Jean is a legend) Khans bargain basement (honestly you can get anything there) the Review bookshop (Chener books=no competition) and Petitou cafe (best cappucino south of the river) How many more shops do you need selling olives?

Gun crime in ED should be taken seriously. Lately, I have heard of desperate mothers stashing revolvers into their Bugaboos in case they do not get a table in Blue Mountain.

I just noticed this topic and thought I should add that I had an email last week forwarded via someone in Wandsworth council regarding a card scam at the very *fuel supplier's name removed* garage, East Dulwich. Seems that cards were cloned in Egypt and used. Liking the stocks idea!
