  1. Hi sue, Yes, you can whatever your view - for or against. If you email the planning officer [email protected] and copy the planning officer most likely to present the officer report on the night [email protected]. Plus worth copying the chair person [email protected].
  2. Hi Otta, I have a big appreciation of Greene King having drunk many a pint of Green King IPA and Abbott as a teenager. But I do think it an important issue whether residents want a 10m x 7m advertising hoarding on Lordship Lane - and temporary has a risk...
  3. The Planning Application for a "temporary" 10m x 7m (32.5' x 22.75') advertising hoarding (for 1 year) comes before the Dulwich Community Council Planning committee this Thursday 24 November at 7pm - which will be at St.Barnabas Church (The Lounge), 40 Calton Avenue, SE21 7DG. IF you think such a large advertising hoarding facing SW is a good or bad idea do come along and tell councillors why they should grant or refuse this application. The report is on page 57 of this report - And you can view the scheme at - 11-AP-2953 The applicant is effectively Greene King who own this pub (via Capital Pubs) and 2,000+ other pubs.
  4. If you email details of the house number it was outside I'll find out what happened and why for you.
  5. Hi Reggie, Sorry you didn't like it. Hi Freddy1929, The extra crossing on Lordship Lane. The rasied entry treatment across the mouth of East Dulwich Grove where it meets Lordship Lane has been completed. The two crossing will be installed starting in January. I asked that they only be installed outside the Christmas period as we don't want to harm trade or distract traders with road workers at Xmas. The works will take from 6 January until mid March BUT most of that time will work wont be onsite but the elapsed time will be 10 weeks - concrete curing etc. Also, big depedency on TfL contractors to install the Puffin lights. Hi northlondoner, Street sweeping on Hindmans Road. In February the Labour administration chose to reduce street sweeping to every 4 weeks. Litter picknig has also been reduced but several times a week your street should be litter picked - and yes it is a shame we still need to pay people to pick up litter dropped by idiots. I have asked when Hindmans was last litter picked and when it will next be swept.
  6. Hi Silversurfer65, Most people within the food waste scheme are using little biodegradable pale green bags to line the small brown food caddies kept in the kitchen. Makes it feel less messy and extends the time before the caddy needs a thorough clean. It also reduces the chance of stray food not going in the weekly collection trucks. But you don't have to use the bags and not using them saves a wee bit of money for the council.
  7. Chesterfield Grove residents. A number of complaints have been made to me about the Chesterfield Grove car wash which technically is at 94 Lordship lane. I've been surprised how far down Chesterfield Grove residents have been so annoyed to complain to me about it. Council Planning enforcement officers have confirmed that its 1999 planning permission allowed for it to operate Mon-Sun 9am-7pm. Please see attached. I've asked these officers to ensure the second condition about ensuring spray stays in the premises have been met. I've also noticed what appears a recent new structure on site so have asked officers to ensure it has planning permission. I'm sure this car wash can exist causing less nuisance to local residents and be a successful business. If you have any concerns or issues please do let me know.
  8. Hi richfish, do you think the little green food bags would be better with handles?
  9. Hi drew, I'd imagine these stats are for SE22 as local East Dulwich ward Police told me August has 22 burglaries a peak. We still have free property marking kits - if you live in East Dulwich ward please email me your name, address and contact numbers and will arrange for one to be dropped round to you. And tigerMountain that is great advice - well done.
  10. But you said council officials told you only two humps needed doing?
  11. Thanks Sue, Hi the-e-dealer, The noise team cuts was a Labour administrations choice. I voted agaisnt this cut and voted for keeping it under our fully costsed and finance director confirmed budget alternative. You clearly don't like what I've done and represent. Fine. But please don't lie and make things up about me.
  12. Whether London's 7.5 million residents want an extra 1 million neighbours. Those extra 1 million will generate more issues and pressures in places such as East Dulwich.
  13. Hi fazer71, Many thanks for your comments and I hope you responded to the consultation - but I'd prefer to avoid this thread becoming another CPZ thread.
  14. Hi KidKruger, If you email yourt details I'll find out what the rota is for your street.
  15. The current projections are for London to expand by 1 million people by 2031 from 7.5 Million. That's a lot of people to house. http://www.london.gov.uk/shaping-london/london-plan/facts/ http://www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-23838968-population-of-london-set-to-hit-83m-high.do I wish Mayoral and national politicians would ask people whether they want this or not and what the merits and demerits of this are. For example single persons council tax discount is a surprising incentive when we're so short of places for people to live already before the extra million people. Attached is a 2008 report indicating what the local fall out of this London forecast population growth is for the Dulwich area. It shows a forecast growth from 33,000 to 39,000 residents by 2021 and then some decline. So, unless average car ownership goes down we probably will see more residents living locally and those residents wanting to own and park cars. Hence my drive for more people to use the Car Club Cars. At the same time car ownership costs in real terms are going down but public transport costs in real times are increasing rapidly. Again not helpful with a rapidly inreasing London and local population.
  16. I suspect JeffJames that that's just the service men who died and not civilians who died in WWI or II and were buried there?
  17. The Dulwich Hospital War Memorial was also very well attended this year on Friday with around 50 people. Very moving to hear all 119 names read aloud. To think these patients that died didn't die quickly but after many days, weeeks, months of treatment. I pray my children never have to face a war.
  18. Hi Peterstorm1985, Virtually all changes to roads in Southwark are implimented via Experimental Traffic Management Orders and then typically 12-18 monhs later a consultation to see if they should be made permanent or not usually with some tweaking. That is my understanding for these proposals. PeckhmBoy, FYI - 20% of East Dulwich ward housing is social housing. The national average for the UK is 17% so despite appearance of many wealthier people in ED it isn't a rich area and most people are not wealthy. Such housing in East Dulwioch includes 500 council properties called 'acquire street properties' where the council 40-60 years ago bought victorian homes often subdivided them badly into flats. Hi woodleigh, I think I've said various times that I would have prefered the council to have formally consulted more widely. That as an opposition councillor I failed to persuade the administration to formally consult adjoining streets in East Dulwich ward and did ask for Mathem, Tell, Ashbourne, Chesterfield, Blackwater and Bassano to be consulted - the money didnt stretch that far and on reflection I can see an even better case for those neighbouring street in South Camberwell ward due to the strange shape of streets north of Grove Vale. Hi henryb, TfL regularly does origination and destination studies of commuters. I'll ask GLA Assembly Member Caroline Pidgeon who to ask in TfL and if we can view that data. Hi hugenot, I suspect you're correct that IF controlled parking proceeded then any commuters who still wanted to park in the area would be dissipated over more neighbouring streets but that is obviously no comfort to residents on those streets. And the uncertainty to what degree that takes place. I think arguments that no problem exists has'nt helped with this issue.
  19. If you look carefully you'll seem some huge polysytrene blocks. These are used to fill in the gaps between platforms when they're working on site enabling workers to easilly get around and move materials and equipment. To use these blocks they must be getting line closures. So I suspect most work it planned to take place at night time or weekends with train line closures. They plan to now finish summer 2012. I suspect before 1 July when the Olympic madness really cuts in. So I don't get any idea of a great rush and wouldn't expect more than one shift working on site doing nights. Which means most of us wont see much happening until new foundations in place and then above ground visible works.
  20. Hi Pugwash, Let me take a look. And assuming I agree will ask for better lighting there. GENERALLY - I've suggested to the Friends of Peckham Rye Park that they might want to consider applying for CGS funds for a lost children post as they have a very successful one in Dulwich Park. Reall win win in that kids are lost for much less time and far fewer mass call outs for Police searching for lost kids.
  21. I was once in China Town with a friend. Later went to left and dicsovered a much smaller version of my winter coat left and my much larger version gone. My German friend thought this the funiest thing ever. I squeezed into it and rang the number of card when home and arranged to meet and swap coats at Farringdon station the next morning. Met said person next morning who was angry, and remember his face and thinking it was strange him dining alone and so apparently drunk, with me for taking his coat when he'd started it. People can be funny/strange when they lose things.
  22. JFYI - after a gap the latest, bit reduced, Cleaner Greener Safer capital funding scheme has just been released. Apply via www.Southwark.gov.uk/cleanergreenersafer before 6 January. Normally applications are between ?1000 and ?25,000. Get your thinking caps on - what relatively small things could we do to make East Dulwich even better?
  23. Talking to some of the businesses they said they were told controlled parking was proposed for all of East Dulwich and they had not been told that for the roads it is proposed that two options - 'lite' 10-12 mon-fri and 'heavy' 8.30-6.30mon-fri. So it's hard to know if they're against what is actually proposed if they're responding to something different.
  24. I asked the officer to tell me which two humps were alleged to be above the maximum height and have heard nothing. I'll chase again.
  25. I'm sorry but what AnotherPaul describes should be decided by a Jury. I suspect they'd convict using 'the beyond reasnable doubt' based on what we've heard.
