This suggestion came in response to my and Cllr Rosie Shimell request for the Friday parking restrictions to largely be removed - they're pointlessly catching people out when the Friday market barely exists. So far Nutfield Road residents who've responded to me are in favour IF it's made clear at the other end that the road is closed and not a through route - keen to avoid lots of reversing vehicles. Hi Jennys, Can you expland on that please - generic issue? Not beign done every 48 hours? which streets being missed? or not done thoroughly? We have had a number of streets with these problems at different times in East Dulwich - so any feedback on concerns really appreciated. But I need to be quite specific to get things monitored.

Hi wonderwoman, Three council teams are on the case. One to keep it clean every day and this location is apparently getting extra scrutiny. Second to educat the flats above those shops about their waste collection arrangements. Third is enforcement. Clearly this wont have an instant impact but we should see an improvement over the next fortnight.

Hi sbain, A number of years ago I organised a wheehciar accessible roundabout in Dulwich Park playground. Presume it's still there? Then orgnaised a couple more dotted across Southwark from all the follow=-up requests. Another facet we should all feed into the consultatinop taking place later this year. Hi Jakido, The picture you've linked to is similar to what was tried with Goose Green Playground. Not as much space as in the picture and the intensity of use at GG meant the grass didn't ast long and had to be replaced. We do have adventure playgrounds dotted around but they're obviously not suitable for toddlers.

Well said Dude909. When the reception pupil crisis was calcualted to be 215-235 by 2015 Southwark Council had no plans to close that gap. I wasn't in favour of academies/free schools but as the only show in town for what must be a dozen years now since the Tony Blair education act, compunded by Gove, we put political posturing to one side. Sadly many still haven't from reading some of the posts on this thread. We asked local schools whether they would be willing to open a free school or two to close that gap. The Harris Federation were the ONLY provider willing to open a primary school and under pressure from us said they would consider a second. We persuaded the Judith Kerr Primary school to choose Dulwich rather than their preferred Rotherhithe or Lambeth. Since then several have joined the bandwagon since which is great and we've given them lots of practical help as well. We didn't know this would happen later and alone it would not have solved that gap. Without Harris responding to our requests, people signing up in droves, and Harris agreeing to help our community we would now have 120 families and another 60 on the way ver year with no school places for their children. So please, get behind this school as we all need it to be successful at serving our local comumnity.

Tell me about it! This thir time suggested and being follwedup by officers that the problem seems to have started when the road was resurfaced so the control loops that might have been damaged are gonig to be checked this time. Fingers crossed.

Hi Oxymodo, Synchronicity - I received a PM earlier today from someone else asking the same quesrtion and then an email from them. I have raised this with council officers - asknig that the residents above all those shops have the current system explaiend so they jnoe when and what to put out. I've also asked why the street cleaning people either havent asked for help resolving this or don't have a mechansim to do this. Hopefully both together will get this sorted. But we have a mroe general problem in this part of East Dulwich looking down at heal. So I hope to get local residents together in the next few weeks to talk about what we can do to make it better.

Last weeks planning sub-committee A we approved change of Vodafone cell site in Dulwich Village from 3G to 3G&4G. It shouldn't take more than few weeks for the upgrade to happen.

Hi ITATM, Plans are afoot to enable step free access to Peckham Rye station platforms. But they're moving at glacial pace! We really need London Overground to take over these routes/stations - they make the platforms level with the trains to significantly boost speed of gtting on and of off trains. also mean wheelchairs asnd buggies much easier to use through the system.

Hi Green Goose, Yes, something can be done. Nothing to stop a business sharing a contract with another business/es to spread the cost - such a business as you've described would clearly pay a small proportion. I have in the past suggested to the South Southwark Business Association they organsie a collective contract saving lots of money and most lcoal businesses waste collections would then be coordinated. That's very kind Sue and Jennys. Hi LD929, Nigello, Zebra crossings vs. Pelican/Puffin crossings - the allter prioritises pedestrians and are quite hard on busy roads to persuade TfL to allow. The latter TfL prefer as it limits pedestrian crossings - they don't like isntalling Puffin's anymore but Sotuhwark Prefer them despite research showing bad idea. To me more instresting is getting diagonal crossing of the traffic lights at East Dulwich Road/Adys Road/Crystal Palace Road. That would really aid people getting to/from the playground/school. Once we have the Townley Road/East Dulwich Grove diagonal crossing in place I will push to get one at Goose Green as described. Can you wait 1-2 years?

Hi Chief, Yes all commercial businesses are required to have commercial waste contracts. If you think they don't please email as I'll get it checked out. Quite often new businesses aren't aware of this requirement. Hi jammyaileen, Yes, I have reported it and usually it gets removed within 48 hours. For future if you spot any graffiti you can email [email protected] giving the ocations, attaching a photo can help. If you copy me IF you ever see racist of sexist graffiti please email me direct with photo and I'll try and get it removed within a couple of hours. Very rare but everyone tries to get that sort removed with gusto. Hi sdrs, I have reported it and hopefully this time being the third attempt will have better luck. TfL who control all the lights will review again but this time also the Project Manager for the recent resurfacing so they can check the ground loops that trigger the lgihts haven't been damaged. fingers crossed we nail this this time. Hi Burbage, I've reported and asked for the missing cycle parking to be replaced. I don't recall this cycle parking but eitherway we'll get it checked out.

I'm bemused. If the timings of phases have not changed just the order then somehow the capacity has been reduced. Cookie - what you've described would be/is dangerous. But I've often seen traffic queuing towards Melbourne Grove before and since the changes. Hi BNG, It feels safer crossing as cars from Townley road aren't jumping the lights into the pedestrian green phase as they were before. This might be reducing the capacity of E-W along East Dulwich Grove if this is taking place into their green traffic phase. Bigger concern is when the UTC is switched on. I believe this will mean variable phasing from a central computer to try and smooth traffic. Hi Aaron, Have you thought of approaching a large bike shop to see if you could open within their premises as sub tenant. OR try a stall at the North Cross Road market. OR perhaps a mobile store that you can take to skateparks. Perhaps worth doing something online to get started while other optinos crystallise. GOOD LUCK.

Looking at www.crashmap.co.uk very few reported crashes - http://www.crashmap.co.uk/Search the Southwark Councul online map used to have an option to show all traffic and speed counts - but the option has vanished again. I'll ask if we can have this restored with the latest data so you can see the average speeds, highest speeds, etc. With so few crashes it would be unlikely to warrange central council funding - we have so many more locations with many more crashes. But in East Dulwich ward we've used Cleaner, GReener, Safer funding to install traffic calming measures. Full sinusoidal humps gonig the whole way across the road typically cost ?1,800 each and are needed every 50-70 metres. Plus you need to cover the admins, legal stuff, public notice which typically adds another ?5,000 unless this can be piggy backed with other works. If you undertake a detailed survey asking people if they#d like full speed humps or no change then you can really jump start this. Typically you'll need to visit repeatedly every home - worth leaving a note people can sign and drop at your home. With a clear majority wanting it things can be implimented much quicker. The next round of CGS will be late Autumn for works in the next financial year sdtarting 1 April. Hope this helps.

It appears the Murco Petrol Station 13-19 East Dulwich Raod is being replaced by a 24/7 BP Service Station from 26 May.

This is the response I've had - and as a pedestrian it does feel an improvement: " Dear Councillor Barber Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding changes to signal timings at the Townley Road/East Dulwich Grove junction. The signals at this junction, as with all others in London, are controlled by TfL rather than the council. New UTC control equipment has been installed at the junction, however TfL have confirmed that the site is currently running under local control as previously, and not controlled from the central computer. The signal timings have not been changed from before the UTC infrastructure was installed & commissioned however the signals stage order has been revised for what they consider to be greater capacity and efficiency. It is likely that this is the change that has been observed, which includes the pedestrian stage appearing after the East Dulwich Grove eastbound right turn rather than Townley & Green Dale. This change was not requested by the council. The signal staging and timings will be further altered on completion of the junction improvement works. Concerns such as this can be raised directly with TfL via Report It. I trust this answers your concern adequately but please contact me if you require further information. Doesn't the Highway code have something about pedestrians having prioprity when behicels turn from a main road to msaller road. eitherway I've asked for an onsite meting with officers to review how we can make that junction safer.

Hi robbin, some people had much more than 5 minutes.

Pocket, Each bus has many more people than a row of cars. If more people travel by bus and leave car at home our roads are clearer for everyone. If you've ever travelled on buses in East Dulwich the only times I've ever experience being 1 of less than 10 passengers is very late at night when traffic si such that the bus priority makes no difference.

Not much comfort but Ihave asked if this power company can attend the next Dulwich Community council to explain what the - is gonig on. They must surely have redundant back-ups to ensure power continuity.
