  1. That would only work if everyone self isolates. I'm not doing it for me, I'm doing it for the entire community.
  2. Gloves can carry the virus too. Far better to minimise contact with gates in the first place. For the good of everyone, at least leave internal gates open.
  3. There are plenty of gates that don't lead onto a road. And owners should have better control. And it's a balance of priorities. The small chance of a dog being run over and the extremely high chance of many people being infected.
  4. There's a very good reason for leaving park gates open at the current time. It will massively reduce the prospect of infection. Normal rules need not apply.
  5. I think they should postpone it. There really are about a million other things the council should be doing with its time right now.
  6. Far better to go to the local shops, independents especially. You'll be far more likely to find what you need and you'll be supporting them hugely at this time. I was at the Organic Turkish shop on LL yesterday and, overhearing people's conversations, they'd never been in there before in their life!
  7. Caf?s rammed, pubs teeming.. on my way to and from school today people coughing openly everywhere. Was there something about the latest isolation announcements people didn't understand?
  8. Just at Sainsburys now. There's a small stock of toilet paper. The very young guy in the queue behind me had six 9 packs. It's so bloody selfish. Not a single other country is banning people from going to supermarkets.
  9. Yesterday afternoon there was zero toilet roll, zero pasta, zero beer, zero flour and zero Maldon salt 🤣 Only that cornish rubbish left. What will we do.
  10. Admin, this isn't really what my OP was about. I'm sure what people are chatting about is worthy of discussion but it has little to do with ED.
  11. They were trying to sublet some space to a Subway counter last year, presumably to offset the crippling rents some businesses now face. Used them many times, will be sorry to lose them.
  12. Loving this at the entrance to some flats on Crawthew Grove
  13. Check your boiler's diverter valve - this could be why it's not making any hot water. Does your heating still work?
  14. They're horrible. I feel like I'm living next to a football stadium. Like so many things the council does, they're all function and zero design. They've carpet bombed the neighbourhood with these awful things. Guess there wouldn't have been any point in consulting residents, we all know how the council stitches up consultations before they start. So angry.
  15. Our entire house, buildings contents with accidental damage and away from home cover is less than 300. Skipton. You're being rinsed!
  16. 150k is just the start. Then there's 60k a year in rent. Then business rates which for that property are about 23k.
  17. If I recall correctly we paid just under 2k including materials which also included a pathway of Victorian paving.
  18. Hilarious. Although I've always been curious about why they have a website at all. They invest their own money in property and exploit it for their own gain. What's the point in promoting that? A perverse vanity?
  19. Gail's isn't crap, that's a weightless insult. But it is quantifiably inferior to the outgoing product by some considerable margin and given that the price-point is similar to Brick House, it's Gail's that's insulting us. I hope there are some very red faces when they start shovelling their average bread at people who will know full well that just a short time ago there were real artisans in their stead. But I don't blame them for simply taking a commercial opportunity. The shame rests very definitely with Park Hill.
  20. Ridiculous as it seems, a parking space without a working meter or app is the same as a double yellow. I once tried calling Southwark (in the days when you could do such a thing) and asked them to take payment over the phone. They nsturally refused.
  21. Parkhill once upon a time had an absolutely humungous sign at the junction of EDG and LL presumptuously taking it upon themselves to welcome people to Lordship Lane, given how much of it they own. Welcoming them to what? The scene of their vast plundering of real estate and generation of wealth? Their website claims, "We believe that being a successful company in South London brings with it a responsibility to the local community, which needs all the help and support it can get." What a complete pile of *********
  22. Only surprised that when BH took the place they wouldn't have had structured, predictable and reasonable rent increments built into their original contract. So many premises seem to have these cliff-edge rent reviews that hit them out the blue. If it were residential property it would be illegal to hike rents to this degree - Aneto is another that's currently in this situation. White Stuff, Oliver Bonas, JoJo Maman and Cafe Nero are all under the thumb of this same landlord. Expect another national chain to complete the corner set.
  23. Another wonderful contribution to the community by landlords Parkhill. 'Realising the true potential of property.'
  24. Harris got the ?17k because levels of pollution around the school are at illegal levels. Governors at the school took matters into their own hands to ensure the kids don't have to breathe such filthy air in their classrooms. It wasn't even enough: the money had to be supplemented with a sizeable chunk of cash fundraised through many events. It shouldn't be necessary to find money this way but you go through whichever door is open to you.
  25. I can tell you now what an FOI response will give you: can't disclose due to commercial sensitivity.
