  1. Yes, you're doing the nightshift. You should demand extra pay for working out of hours :D KidKruger Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > aquarius moon Yesterday: > > "Daytime starts at 9.00 a.m. and ends at 10.00 > pm". > > Classic. 2. Sun rises about 5.30, so people can start making noise at that time? Just imagine if the event had started at 5.30, there would really have been something to complain about then, even though it is officially daytime.
  3. Here's some diddly dee music to remind you of the fun everyone else had LOL http://www.southwarkirish.com/images/webclip_05_fest.wmv the-e-dealer Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Used to hate the diddly dee music all afternoon, > it was always a rather low quality festival but it > was only once a year so I never complained.

It's not on anymore? Didn't it take place this year? I was away so thought I had mmissed it. It's a shame if it has stopped, it was a fun day out for every, Irish or not.
  5. I didn't know anything about this. Could be wrong but this looks like it's in the same place the boot fair used to be many years ago? I love a good rummage on a Sunday, all sorts of treasures to be found.
  6. Just a question, do people complain when we have the Irish Festival in Peckham Rye Park every year? By the way, I love and look forward to the Irish Festival too, with their 'loud music' and Irish dancing and all things Irish :D
  7. Awwww sorry I missed this, it obviously wasn't well advertised.
  8. I have a spade here Nero (no pun intended), the hole you're digging is getting deeper. The more you say, the worse it sounds.

Actually, the pub I mentioned had some sort of event (re-opening/Easter party/whatever) over the past couple of days and the noise was very loud, but I just thought that as long a it wasn't going to be a regular occurrence just let them be. It's normally a very quiet area so I'll be taking note and if it does happen all the time, then I'll complain to the pub and if necessary, to the Council.

I think this is more than building a wall, it seems a house renovation will be taking place. If extensions are involved (loft conversion or addition to the building, i.e .conservatory/extension) then it's usual to draw up a party wall agreement. As to their person not being qualified, and just a builder, he will need to understand the process because he will be liaising with your party wall surveyor and usually a Schedule of Condition will need to be done, to assess any damage which has occurred during the building works, so the builder will need to know his stuff. As to spending a few hundred quid on seeing a lawyer, your appointed surveyor should be your first port of call regarding this as he will know what to do and can explain it all to you, especially in cases where the other side is being difficult, I'm sure he's done this loads of times before.
  11. To be honest, I don't think a party wall surveyor needs to be a qualified surveyor, just someone who knows enough about the process.
  12. Have you specified their address in the title to draw attention to them or are you advertising on their behalf LOL. It's Easter, people want to celebrate. As long as it isn't a nightly or even weekly occurrence, I can't see the problem.
  13. I often notice funeral gatherings in the pub down the road (non-black people), but there's lots of drinking involved, hanging around the streets pretty late and quite a bit of noise. Parking is also a problem on these occasions. The large gathering of people and double parked cars on this occasion shows how well respected and well-known the person was, that so many wanted to pay their respects. Everyone celebrates their funerals/wakes/memorials differently, we need to be considerate of that and not assume there's some kind of gangland activity going on.
  14. This thread has given me a good laugh, well done LadyJane to making people sit up and take note. I can see many spluttering and choking into their lattes. BTW I think the concrete house has been reclaimed, I'm sure it was featured on a programme this morning as being brought up to scratch after 14 years.
  15. Have you seen the meadows? I thought they were just overgrown patches of grass, but on closer inspection they are deliberately left to grow naturally and wild. They have plaques fronting them, exlaining the meaning of the word 'Meadow' and they look very nice close up, I have only noticed two but there could be more. I have always loved the flowers in the park and when I have visitors staying, I try to make a point of taking them on a walk through the park to explore the various gardens. Nunheadbelle
  16. Maybe they were selling cars outside their shop, it's not allowed in East Dulwich apparently ;-)
  17. They used to be taken to Ireland at one point. I had mine stolen many years ago and it was quite distressing, I was in the process of refurbishing the inside by making new curtains, cushions etc. I was most annoyed that they even stole my porta potti. Is this the big white motorhome that is sometimes parked on Limesford Road? 18. I always go to Dulwich Hospital for blood tests and the wait is usually not more than 30 mins. I did notice the last time that the queue was going down the corridor and when I asked what was happening, was informed that people from Kings were being told to go to Dulwich, maybe because it was not so busy. Unfortunately, it seems EVERYONE now goes to Dulwich and the wait has become very long.
  19. There are a couple of open backed lorries which go around the area collecting any scrap metal. My old tumble dryer went that way and my poor bike, which was just put out to keep it out of the way. Old microwave were taken a few weeks ago too, I knew it would be that's why I didn't call the Council to collect it. As someone said, metal is like gold these days. Nunheadbelle
  20. Looks like the Friends of Peckham Rye event as mentioned in another thread on here: Peckham Rye Fete
  21. 484 from East Dulwich to Lewisham High Street and then 108 to Greenwich looks like the best option. Here is the route on TFL: ED to Greenwich Vue and if you click on the interactive map, it shows you the journey.
  22. Apparently, each time Tesco opens a new store in any area, it donates money to a local charity or good cause. St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Nunhead has been the lucky beneficiary this time, with a donation from Tesco and Build Base (who I assume fitted out the store). Don't know how much they gave but it was a generous donation. (tu) Nunheadbelle
  23. Well, this seems pretty certain Co-Operative house, new Tesco
  24. Well Tesco have made massive profits, even with the credit crunch, so opening more shops seems to be on their agenda. Someone else said that there was a Tesco opening in those new units at the top of Rye Lane. Nunheadbelle
