  1. speed limits are just guide lines, as with the rest of the "law"
  2. I regularly use the Vic line / over ground to peckham when returning from Heathrow (via heathrow express and bakerloo to baker street). it's by far the easiest way, in fact I haven't used east Dulwich station for over a year and prefer peckham to get into the city.
  3. that's my point - a few motorcycle parking zones in residential areas complete with ground anchors wouldn't go amiss. I did use to use the lamppost but got a nice warning of the police for that.
  4. cool so I can bolt the ground anchor to the main road can I ?
  5. Ok, here you go - Non abject rational logic on how to take accurate descriptions for intelligence (without upsetting the Liberals): Vehicle identification - SCRIM - Shape, Colour, Registration, Identifying features, Make and model People A-H - Age, Build, Clothing, Defining features, Elevation (height), Face, Gait, Hair
  6. I'm not sure that is the best option. It looks bluetooth based and is dependent on other modules coming to within 100m of the broadcast source. Therefore if the tracker is located more than 100m away from another user it is useless, this would also depend on if the user has Bluetooth activated on their smart phone at the time. Ok for finding keys but not to establish a nationwide search radius as it is the phone that reports the location not the tracker. An ideal tracker would be self contained, capable of geo fencing, have anti jam technology - even trigger if an attempted jam takes place, have an interface with the immobilizer, be capable of bi-directional communication, have GPS, GPRS, GSM and VHF, The vendor would have a dedicated support center that works in conjunction with a police force and port authorities. I'm looking at biketrac or something similar - Ultimately you want both thatcham cat6&7 - but these systems are very expensive. This link shows some of the trackers available for bikes [http://www.elitemotorcycleservices.co.uk/trackingmenu.html]
  7. I did yes not sure it will come to much. apparently there have been 4 thefts in the last month. I'm going to speak with the police and find out what they are doing about it. I'm also speaking with a member of the press.
  8. Further to this is anyone interested in a helping to fund a bait bike operation ? See if we can track these SOB's
  9. I had my Triumph street triple r stolen last week from friern rd. Matt orange reg: LX09 EOY. Hope someone catches these bastards - anyone fancy staring a vigilante group ???
  10. had my triumph street triple stolen last night from friern rd. bastards
  11. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I love speedos pizza - looks like I'm on a diet from now.
  12. It may not have been unlocked - There have been reports that thieves have started to use scanners in the area to read the remote codes as people lock / unlock their cars. Though this is conjecture there has been a spate of this kind of theft ie no apparent break in.
  13. I have never written a refusal but I have never ever paid a "private" parking ticket and never will. If it is issued by the council, police or any local authority pay as they will issue a court order. With private companies just throw each and every letter in the bin, they have no jurisdiction over you. Also never ever appeal as in doing so you acknowledge the legitimacy of the contract under which the "fine" has been issued (if the ticket is called a fine and is private it is illegal). Do not contact them totally ignore them and don't let them frighten you. For more advice look up the consumer action group via google - lots of useful information, case studies and legal advice. Irrespective of any changes to law any parking ticket issued (by private companies) will only be under contract law. Something they will not be able to enforce without specific evidence (and money).

is 2/7/14 good enough ? or 1/7/14 ? hell thats a jubilee year lets do both.
  15. James, I live in Friern road and have now grown tired of the number of box lorries that park continually here, parking is a nightmare without them. What are the laws and regulations governing parking of commercial lorries on the public road on a permanent basis ? Iam unsure if they belong to a single person but there are 3 in the road at 3.5ton plus and park on the road continually.
  16. I did wonder what all the fuss was about as I cycled past Denmark Hill station.
  17. That sound like a similar MO to the bastard that tried to rob me last week.
  18. Wipe your web browsers - totally delete them and re-install
  19. What OS are you running ? When does the message appear ie straight after boot or after launching a program, moving mouse etc? How does the message appear (pop up window, internet explorer etc)? Try disconnecting your internet before boot up (wifi or ethernet) see if the pop up disappears. When did the message start appearing (after download from web, use of USB drive etc) ?
  20. Its not all about what is worn in terms of visability (I'm a cyclist, motorcyclist, hgv license holder and car driver). A big element in these circumstances is how humans perceive shape and movement, plus the fact that we don't process every bit of info represented in front of us. Unfortunately this means some of our thought and action is subconscious, hence the fact we don't always see things that are there or perceive not to have seen it. So really its only your fault in so far as you are human, you reacted correctly and avoided incident so well done. As for cyclists I suggest reading or even paying for motorcycle training (I find it really helps on my cycle commute). Some basic techniques are carrying out life saver checks, understanding SMIDSY avoidance tactics (Sorry Mate I Didn't See You) and how / when to use them - there is an extremely good article on the internet (somewhee) written by a fighter pilot / motorcyclist on this, the other important technique is lane dominance and positioning (open the gate close the gate technique). We cant (and shouldn't) always blame each other, yes there are a few muppets about but only a few, ultimately we must take on a degree of responsability ourselves irrespective of how we get around.
  21. If it were me (as the child back in the day) my parents would have asked the police to be hard on me, they would stump up for repairs (very much to my detriment), drag me by the scruff of the neck to offer an apology to everyone affected, grounded me, taken my playstation, stereo, football season ticket and all manner of other actions. The problem starts when we allow the state to assume total responsibility (or view this as their role), in doing this we lose accountability. Its about making conscious decisions.
  22. We left the kitchen window unlocked after we had it painted yesterday (Should have checked but we live and learn), the random chance of leaving the window unsecure the exact same day we get cased is too remote to be random, especially as access to the rear is difficult and we are no where near a main junction or rat run and in the middle of 100 properties (est). Also I found all the missing items in my garden so its not too bad. Called the police (101) who were really quick to react, just had SOCO round and they found a possible print. I was more pissed off than frightened as I would throttle the scum bag if I had caught him / her, though my wife is happy I didnt catch them. I am getting an alarm today, but would prefer a tibetan mastiff.
  23. Woke early this morning to get a glass of water to find my kitchen door and window wide open. A burglar had taken my work bag some champagne glasses and an egg basket. Okay not the best swag but maybe I alearted them. Be vigelant for these criminals.
