  1. If bluecanary had not found and bought the 20 mph consultation to our attention would we have ever known I cannot recall throughout the recent thread any Cllr actually bring this to our attention regarding how it was passed. Why?
  2. If you get caught and get a righthander you will accept as part of the game?
  3. What is interesting reading this consultation is there does not appear to be any consultation. 7 responses objecting to the 20 mph plan and 2 for the plan. The Council rejects the objection and tell officers to go ahead. How can this be a democratic local consultation. If they had 7 against and 2 for surely it should not have been carried.
  4. Could we also know where the road monitoring is taking place to have an idea of what the Council is looking at and how they could possibly use the information to their advantage Many thanks
  5. Thanks the reply but if they have been put down they must have a list of where. Or do Ofiicers just go out and put them anywhere. How do they know where to collect the recording boxes. Why is it always so difficult to get information that effects all
  6. Enforcing the 20mph on cyclists
  7. Speed will not be the main cause of death and destruction but sitting behind a long line of cars with the front car being PC and letting the speed drop to between 15/20 mph with drivers not being able to move quicker with a empty road ahead. Frustration and anger will then kick in. Example Sydenham hill then along to CP is a prime example of blinkered thinking on road speed. It's a pity that people cannot think out of the box. To test this just drive for a time at 20 with an empty road in front ignoring traffic behind. Common sense is far more important and relevant.
  8. Can we know where the 44 locations are and why they have been selected. Council officers choice, residents, cycle pressure groups or expensive consultants.
  9. What a waste of money. Sure the money could be spent better elsewhere. Why have you suddenly produced this news?
  10. What would happen to these figures if people became more aware and took responsibility for their own actions. Be more aware of their surroundings and not be engrossed with talking on the telephone, drinking takeaway coffee and generally ignoring all what is going on around them. Pavements are for pedestrians when you need to cross the road use designated crossing points. Following the instructions. When at zebra crossings wait until all traffic has stopped. If you need to cross apart from the above use the old tried and tested method "look left , look right and left again" if clear cross. Roads always have been for moving machines going at what ever speed. On london roads that is not fast. Care is needed Perhaps bringing back a man walking in front of traffic with a red flag is what we could all work towards. All it needs is for people to take responsibility for their own actions , however I do think we are asking for the impossible. Why put forward in depth reasons when all that is needed is the above.
  11. There was a huge outcry regarding the Townley Road no right turn, how would you feel as a resident having Southwark missing submitting an application for a judicial review on the super sewer by a day. Residents to suffer for years and years . Can Southwark not get anything right. The cost for this was ?40.000,00.
  12. So running into Iceland she changed in a yummy mummy and not an old local
  13. Needs to be discarded in total. No more than what can we think of next. People should exercise common sense unfortunately with today's generation that does not seem possible. As mentioned before how did ED survive. Glad I grew up in a more sensible age

These random 20mph > zones are just too stressful. Could this have anything to do with all the cycle plans you never get to hear of? Secret committees you don't know about
  15. Medley wrote Charles Notice - how have you managed to know Holland for 45 years and yet seemingly know nothing of the 'Kindermoord' (child killing) campaigns launched in the 70's I suspect nobody abroad would have known about this but if you were Dutch or a resident of Delft or Amsterdam in the 1970's you would have been involved You might have known about it now because the The London Cycling Campaign used a Dutch article from the period. The point is Holland and its Cities and towns are not populated like London and greater London. Dutch plans for cycling were built on rebuilding. Most Dutch do not cycle along heavy traffic roads like we have in London. I am sure there is a lot that has passed me by in those years.
  16. After knowing Holland for over 45 years I will bow to your greater knowledge. Perhaps things would improve if people listened to others. Politicans and Cllrs note
  17. Townleygreen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Look at how pleasant Dutch and Danish cities are > with cyclists and pedestrians favoured over the > wretched car, for goodness sake! When will people realise that London is not the above. Holland Denmark build new purpose built cities for push bikes. They are not London. There are just as many cars but development has been going on before and after WW2'to accommodate people, cars and bikes. Please visit and then make comments from a first hand point of view. I know both London does not lend its self readily to bikes
  18. I've said I think banning the right turn is daft but IF new evidence was explained then I would be perfectly happy to change my opinion > Looking like a Clegg uturn in the offering
  19. At last a sensible admission of the problem by jaywalker. Common sense is what is needed

You have pointed out the problem, why is it so hard to solve. As mentioned the danger never existed before, why was it ever changed to create the problem. Change needed for no reason?
  21. Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Could you have a pelican crossing over East > Dulwich Grove, linked to the existing traffic > lights on LL? So whenever anyone wanted to cross, > traffic on both roads was stopped? Too extreme? To simple to be considered. Consultants need to produce to justify their fee. Whether it is relevant or not. As someone's else posted why has this suddenly become a problem. It has always existed and been accepted. Perhaps self awareness is required
