  1. Fish Chips and More serve chips in a cardboard box, not in paper. It is like being served a beer in a polystyrene cup. It's not right and it's not proper.
  2. Don't panic. Make a cup of tea and take a deep breath. On second thoughts, not the best advice.
  3. Is your username related to a sore appendage?
  4. Meat Liquor actually serves Meat and Liquor, so the name works. I doubt Pussey is on the menu at Pussey Liquor. 5. Ah, thanks @Ladygooner. Interesting choice of spelling.
  6. The Co-operative (ugh) Mary's Living and Giving (purrrlease!) Swadesh (What even...?) Londis (Abstract or what) Petitou (Oh Muy bien daaahling) Mick's Hardware and DIY (So retro!) Lordship Lane Dry Cleaners (How dare it do what it says?) Dulwich Cafe (Such a has beans)
  7. Is it pronounced with a 'u' as in put, or as in cut? Neither makes me want to drink there particularly but interesting to know so I don't embarrass myself.
  8. Missed opportunity for brilliant 'bite your hand off' pun.

  10. I imagine the Ice Cream place is working hard to get the cash machine moved. It makes their patio look a little ill judged at the moment.
  11. If Picturehouse charged ?5 then you very soon wouldn't have a cinema in East Dulwich. Cinemas are expensive. They are also expensive to run, and the margins on films are tight. The margins on popcorn and drinks are huge, and this is where Cinemas make the money. Picturehouse add a bar, restaurant and the regular stream of membership income to this and therefore can offer a slightly wider variety of films - not just those that rely on a popcorn-guzzling blockbuster crowd. The PeckhamPlex is an outlier for ticket prices, not worth comparing anything to it. They too make their margins on the food and drink. By getting lots of people in the door they sell more of it. I imagine their rent per/m2 is also very low for a cinema. Their projection is fairly shoddy - and imagine they therefore don't have to pay back as much in VPF as a more expensive 4K projection system in use at picturehouse.

Edit: Sorry, I misread that. No I don't work in A&E, but imagine they might have some experience in this area.

Anything is one, if you're brave enough.
  14. Fresh tasting carbonara? Carbonara's key components are cured meat and aged cheese, fresh tasting doesn't seem like the right word.
  15. It could be described as 'ingredient led' in that the menu is defined by quality of available ingredients rather than by a theme, concept or country of cuisine.
  16. I thought Ganapati already did takeaway..?
  17. This could be life changing. Silk road delivered :D
  18. Some interesting opinions from first time posters in this thread...
  19. ganapati has lots of veg options, new place in peckham called the nines peckham also has a veg led small plates menu. The montpelier tends to have a couple of interesting veg options on the menu too. Franco Manca, Rocco in Dulwich Village? Silk Road in Camberwell. << all of these have more than just a token veg option.

The cost of ingredients - not the cost of making the bread Cedges. These loaves are retarded over night in climate controlled conditions (costs money) they are shaped by hand (costs money) and baked in an electric deck oven (costs money). I presume they are also unloaded by hand (costs money). Some loaves also contain fruit, nuts and seeds - these increase ingredient cost significantly and I wouldn't be surprised if price of plain loaves has to be inflated to cover this.

The brick house bread is some of the finest in London and is the benchmark for what I try and recreate at home. I'm sure he'd be happy to talk about your starters if you popped in just for a chat too. Either way, very happy baking.
  22. If you like chinese food then Sunday is one of the best times to get a table at the amazing Silk Road in Camberwell. If not then Begging bowl, Artusi, Ganapati are all within a stroll of each other on Bellenden road and are all good for non roasted lunches. I personally think the food at Montpelier is the best of the pubs in the area and they will, I think, have non roast options and also live Jazz on a Sunday if you are into that.
  23. Similar position to you and looking at Croydon. Parts are, despite the reputation, very pleasant places to live and there are a few flats within your budget available I would think...
