Hummy Mummies free summer sessions THIS WEEK
lenster replied to swannieboy's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Emza, if you're free this morning there is another session in Peckham Rye Park. Under the tree in front of the cafe. A few of us are doing a picnic again after so feel free to join us for that too. -
Hummy Mummies free summer sessions THIS WEEK
lenster replied to swannieboy's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for a fun session in Dulwich Park this morning! Looking forward to Thursday and fingers crossed weather stays dry for it. For anyone who fancies seeing what it is all about, come and join us. Some of us might stay on for a picnic lunch. -
Thanks. She isn't walking yet, but has recently decided to give crawling a go in the form of bum shuffling so I guess it could be linked to that and the fact that the bed is not a steady surface to move about on. Tried out the 'breaking' in gently today and worked well using something else as distraction. Took a while for her to realise where she was and then she quickly threw herself back. Will persevere.

I don't think the height is the issue as she seems fine on firm surfaces when off the ground. Guess will just have to chalk it up to one of the many, many phases and wait to see how long it lasts. Thanks.

Just wondering whether anyone else has had this! My one year old has suddenly developed a fear of sitting on any soft surface like the bed or couch. She seems to be fine on the floor, but will arch her back and throw herself into a lying down position if placed on the bed. If I try to sit her up, she'll just cry and cling on tightly. I was thinking maybe an ear infection affecting her balance, but there aren't any other signs of illness. She hasn't fallen off the bed or had any other issues with heights or wobbly surfaces. Not a big problem at all, but just wondering whether anyone else has experienced this.

is it worth bringing in sleep experts?
lenster replied to verds's topic in The Family Room Discussion
If you decide to find an expert, worth looking into a group session with Nicola who posts on here as childsleepsolutions. I think it was ?20 each (6 people needed) and the host doesn't pay. I'm not sure if she is still running the sessions, but you can also reach her on her website (same as forum name). If you do get a group together, best to arrange with babies of similar age so the session can address similar concerns. -
Lovely to catch up and meet new peeps. Thanks for organising Audrey.

I'll be there! Somebody please make sure I'm not the last to leave this time though... can't handle hangovers anymore! For anyone from the self-esteem thread who's worried about not knowing people, I can assure you everyone was very friendly when I went for the first time and I should be able to get there at the start so you won't be sitting alone! I don't have a badge, but will fashion a 'Biscuits anyone?' sign out of beer mats. :-)

The doidy cup was the only one my little one would drink a decent amount from originally. She's now fine with sippy cups, but it took a lot of cheering and clapping after each sip to get there!

I have the necklace and anklet and use the anklet at night. Hard to say whether it has been effective as my little one (10 months) has yet to have a tooth appear...maybe it is magically keeping them away altogether!?! Not sure how many places are still selling them though as I recently received an email from the company I bought from, Amber Pumpkin, saying Trading Standards has requested removal of stock by all sellers due to potential safety issues for children under 3.

Pickle you're so good! I just cancelled my online subscription to a weight loss site as I wasn't getting round to entering my daily food intake. Hmmm...weather taking a turn for the better so maybe should get off my bum and go for a walk this afternoon...

Sorry to miss you guys again. Bit of a clash with little one's nap and am currently keen for her to get a proper morning nap as she is struggling to manage a decent afternoon one. Hopefully make the next one.

Milk based recipes needed for breastfeeding strike
lenster replied to lenster's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks for that. Also, if anyone has an industrial strength pump they wouldn't mind hiring out for a few days, please pm me. I'm not managing to get much with my pump and had supply problems before this so would be gutted to not have any milk left if she returns to the boob. Thanks. -
My 9 month old has gone on what I hope is only a temporary breastfeeding strike. She has always refused a bottle and won't drink formula or expressed milk from a cup either. The only way I seem to be able to get any milk into her is in her food so she is having very runny porridge and mashed potato, but I am struggling to come up with other ideas. Any recipes or tricks/tips would be great including ways to get her to drink more water...she will have the odd sip from a cup, but not what I would call a proper drink. Doctor confirmed today that she does have a slight ear and throat infection so hopefully this will be short-lived. Thanks!

What time are you planning? Have an appt in the morning, but can try to join you after if you're still there.

I've been meaning to try out that free class...maybe this weekend. 1lb off for me this week, but have no doubt wiped that out with the 3 Lindors scoffed today. Faster walking in store for tomorrow!

Cranial osteopothy - any recommendations locally?
lenster replied to Widdy's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Hi. I saw Elaine Gregory at Dulwich Therapy Rooms for the same thing. Seemed to work well on my little one. Afraid I can't remember the cost. -
Bugaboo Chameleon - Maxi Cosi Base Question
lenster replied to themaninblack's topic in The Family Room Discussion
You have to take the adapters off to fit it onto the easy fix. Not sure about family fix, but looks similar. Only a two second job though and adapters get thrown into bugaboo base ready for next use. edited to say: after reading nv's post above, if I've got my products mixed up, you're welcome to pop round and see ours in action. -

You could try Emily at the South London Sling Library. SLSL -
Hi ladies. My attempt to lose weight had a bit of a kick start over the past week due to the evil bug doing the rounds. 6lbs in 5 days... poor body is a wreck, but every cloud, eh?! Not an experience I would want to repeat though!
