Children's playground near Euston Station
lenster replied to lenster's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Thanks everyone. I love Coram's Fields, but unfortunately suspect even that might be too far in the time we have. Will check out the other Kings Cross places. Cheers! -
I'm meeting a friend for lunch near Euston Station and we'll both have our kids with us (2 and 3 years old). We're unlikely to have enough time to make it to Regents Park so I'm hoping there's a kiddy playground nearby for a quick run around. If anyone knows of one in those gardens around the station, please let me know! Thanks.

A friend of ours had a similar situation with their 7 year old son. They came to visit us at a time that we were fostering dogs and it was really difficult for the son to come into our house even with the dog in another room. At the time we were looking after a very sweet, gentle dog who was quite good on a lead so we decided to see if a walk to the park would help. Once there we asked him if he'd like to hold the lead, with us, and he agreed. It was amazing, just that small amount of control helped him no end and by the end of the visit he was rolling around the floor with the dog. I think he's still wary of dogs when out, but at least he doesn't run screaming when he sees them now. Not sure if that's any help at all, but worked for our friend. Good luck.

We stayed at Montengrand and it is lovely. Perfect for a relaxing family holiday. -
Anyone been to the Winter Wonderland this year?
lenster replied to nunheadmum's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Went today and there were only three people ahead in the queue for Santa at around midday. Am guessing it'll be a much longer queue at the weekend. They have an official photographer, but you don't have to buy the photo and you can take your own instead. Can't say it's worth queuing for long as you only get a quick hello with Santa. I love Winter Wonderland though and will definitely be taking my little one back before it closes in Jan. -
I spent ages looking for that thread a few weeks ago. Think it was for Polydrons? Didn't keep link to thread though.

Hi. My little one stopped breast feeding at 9 months due to a throat and ear infection. She would never drink formula or cows milk or breast milk from a cup. Doc said by that stage she didn't need as much milk as you think and as long as diet is good with other sources of calcium then not to worry. Her diet wasn't brilliant though so I used to just try to use milk in as many of her meals as possible and made sure breakfast was always a milky porridge or weetabix. Amazingly she then went ahead and drank milk when it was given out at a playgroup we went to in those little kiddy cartons with straws. Maybe it was the carton or maybe it was watching other kids drink it, not sure, but she still won't drink it from a cup.

Second the two options method. Whenever mini lenster is overtired or going through a delightful phase I only ever give an either or choice and *most* of the time it works. The last bathtime one was "do you want to get in before or after your toys?". Hope it improves for you!

going on a 9hr flight with a 14 month old.......
lenster replied to sweetgirl's topic in The Family Room Discussion
For ears popping I bought Earplanes fully expecting my little one to either refuse to let me put them in or pull them out a minute later. Was pleasantly surprised when she kept them in for take off and landing. They seemed to work as there were no tears unlike a previous flight when she'd suffered badly with pressure change. If you're flying out of Heathrow Terminal 3 there is now a soft play room in the departure area. Not sure about other terminals. -

Where to buy replacement popper for nappy?
lenster replied to lenster's topic in The Family Room Discussion
Replacement popper now sorted! Didn't think the company that made it would be interested as they're based in USA and I have had the nappy for a while, but they're kindly sending over a replacement popper. Yay to Blueberry! So now just wondering whether anyone has the snap press/pliers I can borrow? Will check local alteration places too. Thanks. -
One of the plastic poppers has come off a fave cloth nappy and am having difficulty finding a replacement in the same colour... orange. Does anyone know where I could buy one (or does anyone happen to have a spare knocking around!?) and if I do manage to find it...does anyone have the pliers used to attach them?? Thanks!

We have a secondhand elc one like that and it has been brilliant for our 22 mo. Would recommend keeping to just sand or just water for each play time though to avoid the inevitable mixing of the two.

My little girl only started walking on her own earlier this month at 20 months old. Took her time to crawl too. I wouldn't be concerned seeing as she's cruising..

Also had this treatment done by Carly and the results were much better than at the salon I went to last year (different brands). Definitely tamed the frizz. Agree with sparkleheart that feel it needs washing more frequently, but if I can head out without even blow-drying, that's fine by me!

Will try to make it. Is Mag still open? x

Second Pickle's advice. The return trip from the Far East for us is always tougher and using playgroups that little one likes a lot makes staying awake during the day easier. Generally takes us a week to get back on track.

Time for another catch up?? How does a Thursday in November sound?

Activities for small children from ED by public transport?
lenster replied to cashewnut's topic in The Family Room Discussion
185 bus to Vauxhall City Farm is a fab option. Small, but fun and about all my toddler could manage with the midday nap timings. -
We bought a vaporiser from Argos and it comes out every time little one has a cold. A little noisy, but seems to help her sleep. I think at 6 weeks you might need to check which oils can be used with it - I used one from Healthmatters that they said would be ok instead of Karvol. http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/3768851.htm Oh, and keep an eye on the room temp as it gets quite hot with the vaporiser running.

Having just broken the fourth newly installed latch, can anyone recommend ones that don't snap under the slightest pressure? Thanks!
