Generally speaking, some medium size market towns and lesser cities always seem more prone to random violence and aggro generally than anywhere I’ve been in London

It should be easy enough to point out to anyone even thinking of voting reform that should they take power they will have no impact. And will make things worse. And if people think politicians break promises now and reform are a breath of fresh air then they ain’t seen nothing yet but they won’t really care about immigration if reform do win uk used to be about law and order and now we have dim talking heads everywhere unchallenged going “leave the ECHR, stuff the judges, just do it!!” like life is that simple sweeties

Your second point contradicts your first (and previous post)

Running a country is not the same as a household budget

When did this whole “elect a govt and then change leaders as we see fit “ notion take hold ? it didn’t help the Tories and it won’t help Labour (and why do people think they can change leaders, call new elections on a whim, but NEVER EVER talk about changing Brexit) I dont think starmer is doing a good job. But he was elected. And the volatile electorate wanting short term fixes are part of the reason behind his ultra-cautiousness Complaining about govt and suggesting change of direction seem fine to me. Demanding a change of leader not so much that being said, if there was some Labour implosion and someone like Burgon was in some mad scenario made leader, then I think the electorate should be entitled to a general election. Just as it should have happened when Johnson was replaced

Both notoriously “lovely” people to spend any time with or worse, serve
-
Ah the oldest cliche in the book ”I would leave if…” but you wouldn’t leave if farage was prime minister ?
-
He is toast he should never have been appointed and starmer flannelling about all of this shows exceptionally poor judgement a disgrace all around

I get that bit - it's the "we all win" bit I didn't understand if I look at world, countries I most subscribe to are the ones where taxes are raised significantly, the economy continues to thrive and the rewards lead to a fairer economic outcome - including countries where actual pension income is a lot more https://www.almondfinancial.co.uk/pension-breakeven-index-how-does-the-uk-state-pension-compare-to-the-rest-of-europe/ but a decent social fund requires chancellor "winning"
-
“Chancellor loses out, we all win.” I don’t understand this

“Fair points, not arguing with you on them” This outbreak of civility between us is beginning to worry me ! im approaching pension age soon enough myself and im sorry to hear your position isn’t great. But current pensions are not the result of any 1 year government (they literally couldn’t be) but decades of priorities across multiple govts and voter priorities 21k won’t get your fat these days as a worker. Transport and other costs before they even get to accommodation. And they will work hard for that then you have the grey economy and zero hour contracts where people earn far less than that again - your position doesn’t sound great but that’s no reason to deny a new generation Me and jazzer at next forum drinks https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2025/mar/28/dining-across-the-divide-i-see-the-welfare-state-as-bloated-corrupt

Well he couldn’t deliver anything better than a poor brexit. Because no such thing exists
-
Fair points jazzer. But it begs the question, on what information are people basing their opinion? because if it’s x or the right wing media the of course they will believe nothing has happened but people who claim to be motivated by rising immigration numbers are either ignorant of or don’t care the those numbers have dropped significantly since Labour got in Hospital waiting lists are finally showing improvements after years of getting worse people on minimum wage are better off We haven’t had a random general election or new prime minister just months after the last one compare that to Tory chaos Important relations with other countries (important for long term trade and growth) have improved under labour given the size of the mess they inherited it’s far better than many give credit for and the prospect of a Badenoch and/or farage govt returning us to the chaos of last 10 years? No thanks (I could do a long list of things Labour have done wrong or badly but that’s for another thread. I did not vote for Labour, but all things considered they are a massive improvement on what came before. Unfortunately we have a bunch of far right agitators kicking off around the country because they are cry babies which gives impression country is going downhill when it’s really not)

Where are the far left in all of this flag business? Thats a red herring there is the far right leading this nonsense, a lot of people following them who claim to be ordinary people (but very little digging and oh guess what) and them there is everyone else (right, centre, left) opposing them there is no “both-sides” on this

To be fair, it’s more than ok to bash Labour. I think she is a terrible appointment, I think her motivations and follow-through with an announcement like this is problematic and shows that Labour are intent on chasing votes from the likes of Vladi instead of me and vladi’s reaction is exactly why not only are Labour abandoning their core vote and morals, but why they are stooopid to do so

“These countries” ”sit up and take notice” Christ but this country is childish sometimes. Like “these countries” don’t take much higher percentage of immigrants anyway or like the uk doesn’t already face a skills shortage and in no way has the ability or desire to piss off people from other countries we will very much want to come here

the only known name is from that poster in the window where it says to email [email protected]. I thought that website might shed some light on who is creating the posters I hope whoever was attacked is doing ok, but agree there is something very off/vigilante-ish about all of this

It would appear that https://www.argentile.com is offline I wonder what it is

Almost like there is a connection between excessive flag shaggery and violence

The banking crisis was a global event which enabled the Tories victory and to this day is somehow used against Labour covid and furlough are under events which impacted economy. But guess what? Not just the uk economy! energy prices a result of the Russian invasion, something Johnson said would never happen and as we seek to remove ourselves from non-renewable and Russian controlled natural resources, we have Tories and reform condemning Labour for pursuing renewables. Something most other sane countries are doing We must also not forget the mad relative in the attic. Brexit. Something which contributed massively both to the black hole and to the foreseeable future lack of growth (this is something starmer has also bizarrely tied himself to. Presumably in an attempt to placate the media/loons who think it was a good idea but which will fail in both aims)
