  1. Was "interesting" on Saturday night to say the least. Had to leave with older family before ordering dinner! Butchers by the Plough is great. 2. Done my time MM. Was a sedate evening, but was good. Hipster-Ma-Boab Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Thought you were grounded HMB.
  3. You could see what's going on at The Bussey Building on Rye Lane (google building). I was down that neck of the woods last night. Couple of glasses in Peckham Refreshment Room then popped my head into Bar Story. Was a great feel going on. Place was busy but not packed as they were using the outside space as well as the newish Peckham Springs bar area.
  4. *ditches the American Spirits* ETA: now 6.50 and sipping a glass of red in Peckham Refreshment Room. Great atmosphere and putting me in the ????'s an SJ camp. *retrieves American Spirits* Jeremy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > StraferJack Wrote: > -------------------------------------------------- > ----- > > Like actually angry? 5. I bought a packet of American Spirit cigs today for the 1st time. I have never seen them before and was drawn, like a fool by the packaging. Turns oot I'm a hipster.
  6. There is a new free National Careers Service https://nationalcareersservice.direct.gov.uk/Pages/Home.aspx If you are willing to pay, The Careers Group (which provides the Careers Serviceto all uni of London Instituions) offers a package. It is not cheap though: http://www.gradclub.co.uk/CareersAdvice.aspx The Career Development inst. has a list of qualified independant advisers that you could check: http://www.thecdi.net/Professional-Register- You could also try Prosepcts Planner which is free to use, and used by most UK HE Institutions. Go to www.prospects.ac.uk and serach prospects planner. It will ask you questions etc and match you to areas/sectors that maybe of interest.Take it with a pinch of salt but its a start, and it may make you question why these areas have come up. Good luck
  7. ...you are asked to go upstairs to make love and you reply, " Well, it's one or the other". ETA: Bob Monkhouse, possibly.
  8. This East Ham you speak of, does it have a road, a straight mile long with a pub at either end? Could be a game changer... I'm moving into the West Wing at MrBen's I've decided.
  9. Uh - oh UB, you used the P word. UncleBen Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Prince Privileged Ponce
  10. Going to have to releuctantly move on at some point. Not sure when. Still renting and rent keeps going up. Was in Belfast at the weeekend. The house next to my mates was up for rent. Gated mews type place, all detached, 4 bedrooms over 3 floors - ?1100 per month, what we pay at the moment for a 1 bed flat. Wages though nowehere near what London offers with London Living allowance etc but there you go. Hard to get a deposit together when a lot goes out on rent. Dont worry MrBen, Im here for a while yet, love it here(ED) and feels like home. Love getting several nods hello and stop and chats on Saturday as people pass The Bishop!
  11. Andrew is 50/1 at Ladbrokes. Im on it. They met at St Andrews. Gotta be, hasnt it?
  12. I'd second that *Bob* Or Andrew as a nod to Prince Andrew Murrays exploits a Wimbledon! *Bob* Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Jason > > > Either that or back to the Saxons. But Aethelbald > than Egbert I think.
  13. People on bikes with the saddle too low
  14. The Bow Bar on victoria Street just below the Castle has a lot of whisky - https://plus.google.com/110882423509780880371/about?gl=uk&hl=en#110882423509780880371/about?gl=uk&hl=en and is a good pub. Not sure if it does offical tastings. The Scotch whisky society is up near the Castle (and The witchery which is a very fancy restaurant and worth a visit if you are having an expensive meal one night!). Think you need to be a member though and it will probably show you how it is made as well as tastings. Never been. Cant drink whisky!
  15. Was a good sunny amble. Nice to meet some new folks and see old faces. Struggling a bit today and I left some of you still going strong. Thanks SJ for kicking the day off.
  16. I've got a date at noon with Barry Bear. Will be bringing him "home" to the Plough shortly after.
  17. Thanks to siduhe and adamj85 The Barry Bears will be on parade tomorrow. Theres a reason to join if you need one. Barry and Barriet will be present for the whole day and will be taken into the custodial care of an approriate Ambler, as yet to be announced when the time comes. Looking forward to a few pints in the sun, and thanks to SJ for getting this of the ground. cheers
  18. You know me eh.. Andybol Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I really need to figure out who is who on here !
  19. Pickle Im expecting you and the young team. Mr Pickle as well - he did a lot of running last night! Those Barry Bears, they always bring the sunshine. SJ: I preform at my best in the sunshine so this year the title could have been mine. Never mind, next year eh! Lasers set tae AMBLE. CHARGE...
  20. I rembered in the night, Bar Italia: http://baritalia-edinburgh.co.uk/ I've not been for years but was always pretty good, there is an interesting bar called Wighams(sp) quite near by. It's underground, wee cellars. All this thinking about the Burgh has brought back some great memories. Going to pop up in August.
  21. There is a restaurant in The Cafe Royal which looks like a separate bar. There used to be part of the pub upstairs but I'd avoid that. The Guildford arms is round the corner and that's a great pub as well. For early risers The Penny Black is in that block and it opens at 6am. Some sights in there! There is a Italian at the West End that's good, sorry cant mind the name, it's near The Indigo Yard which used to be good as well for a few drinks. The Dome on George Street is pretty impressive if you want a bit of civility, could end up in Fingers Piano bar after. That's a bit rough round the edges but was always a Good Friday night out...till the ban!
  22. The Cafe Royal is a cracking boozer, hidden away behind Princes Street, Balmoral Hotel end: http://www.caferoyaledinburgh.co.uk/ Upstairs at The Doric Tavern, behind Waverley Station is good for lunch and is beside The Hebridies Bar which was my second home for 8 years. It's a proper Scottish pub. Tiny but can get pretty good fun. Gets a bit industrial at times! ETA: The Jolly Judge, down a side vennel up by the Castle is worth a visit. A haven just off The Royal Mile and all the hustle and bustle: http://www.jollyjudge.co.uk/index.htm From there a short hop down toward The Grassmarket where you will Mick Macs suggestion. During The Fringe, everywhere will be packed but its a great time to be in the City.
  23. Maybe im still hyper sensitive since Sundays tennis but nearly started greetin! Lovely stuff Lucy.

  25. Foxy A safer, less hazardous walk, not relient on Public Transport can be taken in on Saturday. The walk takes in the historic route of the Barry Barry Road Race. Walking boots will be dubbed at 13.30 in the beer garden at The Plough. Hydration shouldnt be a problem either.
