I have a free pass for tonights Forum Drinks - Any takers.....
  2. Is this an edition of 3-2-1 with the great Ted Rodgers I have just walked into?
  3. 3am start!.......oh dear! Thats going to need some careful pre bout planning. Hold, hold, hold..................
  4. Just back from a training camp in Ireland......training going well and last years time is going to be beaten, not by much but surely beaten. Starting Bell is 1pm however there will be some warm up drills taking place prior to this to enure there are no pulled muscles or similar during the run - 12pm start time for these in the Plough.... Warm down takes place in the Clockhouse as per last year and Barrel Walking should hopefully again be a feature of the event in Bar Story for those still capable. Hopefully all the info you require is now avaialable. In terms of what to wear, very much up to yourself. Vetran runners may be sporting Rasta Vests again....... Hopefully see you at the start line at 1pm on 13th June. (12.45pm for registration and vetting of selected beverages to check for conformity) Ramming speed..................
  5. Hold, hold, hold.......
  6. The Bear is safe and will be presented to the 09 Barry Barry Run Champion Athlete. See attached for details if interested in this cultural event of the summer. All welcome. Last years winner said: "I still remeber the pain from last year, but I couldn't devalue the competiton as Man U did the FA Cup, so I'll be there" The bar has been raised again, and again, and again......... Lasers set tae malky!
  7. Hope this attached?
  8. Big Phil 1st Test is 20th June, a week after the Barry Barry Run so injuries permitting, should be stationed in the pub for that! Good luck - looking forward to it.
  9. Jack Jones House - near petit tou. Could just be a coincidence tho.
  10. went to GC last friday, for some reason thought the forum drinks were on. Had been on le pivo all day - met a nice crowd in there all the same! signed em up for the Barry Run! Works leaving do next friday 1st but hope to wobble in on way home Thanks Georgia
  11. You can run uphill Brendan!
  12. Now the Bear is safe, as evelknievel says this years "race" is scheduled for the 13th June. The starting gun is 13.00hrs at the Plough. Finishing point (for me 13.57hrs) at the Clockhouse. Will post later on nearer the time with some useful "hints & tips" about the day. Early notice for you busy "athletes". Attached for info.
  13. Thanks all for the responses. Negotiations are at an advanced stage for the safe return of the Barry Bear and it looks promising. Plan for final date not yet fully confirmed but will be early June. Awaiting confirmation from an international select team of "athletes" from Oz. The Barry Barry Run has gone international...... Will let you know date in good time. Cheers and time to get training!......CHARGE!!!!!
  14. There have been several, at times heated discussions about this years event and format. These ranged from running uphill, to involving scooters and even putting in a "hurdle" at the Barry Off Licence. However, an event as pure as the Barry Barry Run should retain its ethos and as such the status quo remains, also if the format was reversed I'd need to set of the night before to reach the finish! ( I think my previous PB was nearer the 60 min mark on reflection) We need to find the trophy and help with this appreciated.
  15. The organising committee of this years 2nd annaul Barry Barry Road Race are in the advanced stages of planning for the event. We are however at a loss as to the exact identity of last years winning athlete and the whereabouts of the Prestigous Barry Bear. I think I last saw it in Bar Story but then again that may not have been the Barry Bear. Further details to follow re the actual "race" but can anyone help track down the Bear or know how to get it back so it can be presented to this years winner. Format same as last year. I'm in training to beat last years PB of 37 minutes.
  16. The pocket money millionaire: always came back with more than a shoite pencil and rubber combo.
  17. Big Phil Hows things progressing with the Prince Albert?
  18. I called the Crack Team that is being advertised on the back of buses. Offered to fix my windscreen, not what i was expecting really!
  19. Indeed SMG, it was after the first round (of the championship, not drinks). Apparently was demonstrasting the correct squash stroke, forehand! Daryll (manager) after the last round of games said I was not to have white Russians.... Its been a great venue so far with good seats and not packed so bar access is not a problem. Also the sound is on and you dont have to beg for it to be turned up a milli second before KO. Think there will be a few "Barry Runners" present for the Irish game on Saturday. Who they playing?!
  20. Been watching all the games in the Herne. Not sure they do Friday Game but on saturdays its been a good set up with 2 flat screen TV's, sound on and pie, mash and a pint for ?6.50. Not too busy and good atmosphere. Hopefully be in there Saturday for Scotlands first win and then settle in for the Irish Game. Say hopefully as last time think I got a bit carried away with white russians and a wooden soup spoon!!! the mind boggles.
  21. Hernes about the best place I've found to watch the games. ED becoming pretty limited these days for sport. Been to all the pubs on LL to watch over the years. They set up 2 large screens for the games and the sound is on so you dont have to beg for music to be turned of at KO. Tend to go to Herne with rugby fan mates (mostly scots and Irish)and the atmosphere is good altho there are few ankle biters running round but its been good value for the last two games. Unless I burnt my bridges after the last game - something to do with upsetting people by demonstrating my squash swing with a wodden spoon, will be there, hopefully, for the next round of games.
  22. Been watching the Games in the Herne Tavern - good set up. not completely packed, good seats and Tv combo and they do a pie, mash and pint for 6.5 chunks during games....
  23. Last year gowlett was open from 12 till 3. No pubs were open in ED in the evening after that.
  24. I tend to adopt the F**k em if they dont have a sense of humour approach, and then lie low for a couple of days!
  25. I was thinking the other day how I missed IST. Bar Story is a good alternative and the fire outside at night is nice. Think Liquorish on a saturday afternoon is good as well, and I have met and spoken to a few civilians in there after a few pints, just like I used to in IST - altho the seating in IST made for far easier conversations with strangers who by the end of the night were friends (sort of!).
