  1. Change church! With an attitude like that its hardly a surprise congregations are dwindling! Number one was 'done' at 9 months, number two a couple of weeks after his second birthday. Number one would have been a few months earlier but we were in ED and had a long wait for a date. Number two was a country church and we got to choose whenever we liked!!
  2. 15 mths between my two, agree with all the above, it is hard but it does get easier! Mine are 2 and 3 now and it's really easy! When number two was tiny I would put them both in the bath together, baby in a bath seat thing. Baby out first dried and baby grow then toddler out. Think I would then feed baby whilst toddler watched bedtime hour / Night Garden etc and get baby to bed @ 6.30 which then gave me half hour for story and bedtime with toddler. I hated it!!! Nowadays it's bath together, stories together in the little ones bedroom, big one says good night and goes to her own room to choose a story whilst I put little one to bed, I then rout big one to bed following anther story.
  3. We have done it but it was converting a brick building that was already there so not quite the same.
  4. I wish there was a like button :) I scrubbed my kitchen floor with a wire brush and spray bleach!?! The mop definitely doesn't keep the grout clean! I am definitely in the market for a steam cleaner!! I can recommend a fantastic carpet cleaner :) Pickle Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I find, even with a mop that I can wring out > really well, that dirty water ends up getting into > the grout of my tiled floor, making it look > grubby. 5. ?500....... Presumably that figure doesn't include the flights / hotels etc necessary to get married in Vegas.
  6. That is the bonus of the marquee - we can choose whatever suppliers we want, end the party whenever we want and there is no corkage! Wouldn't work likecthat with a marquee in a hotel / stately home etc though.
  7. I think if people choose to get married abroad they shouldn't be offended when people can't come. A wedding is potentially expensive to attend without it being overseas!
  8. 5ft sounds a good depth, that much deeper than ours. Definitely have a light fitted and at least two entrances that are good sized (to avoid pot holing ;) )
  9. We get married in August so mid planning! We have gone the marquee route which is far from a cheap option once all the extra bits are added on, however it does mean we don't need to be worried (too much) about numbers as the main expense is not per head! We basically want a really good party so have booked two bands and have a free bar, music and drinking being important to a party - we have also invited guests to bring a tent and camp! I bought the wine when Tesco had a 25% off offer and have basically been buying beer and cider when its on offer in the supermarket - there are really good deals around if you buy in advance and have the storage. Edited to add, we are not even close to 24k!!! I can see how it can cost that though if you don't shop around!
  10. Make sure the doors to the eaves are large (ease of storing things / getting them back without emptying eaves), also ensure eaves storage quite deep - it's an awkward shape which limits what fits
  11. Life as normal until they knock through..... After which very dusty and no amount of sealing doors prevents this. Packing things away in sealed boxes / storage would have helped in hind site i.e. so the house has minimal things in it to get covered in dust.
  12. Is it possible to order brand new 1 pence pieces from your branch? I would ideally like @ 140 Googling has got me nowhere.... Thank you
  13. If you have a nanny then def a shower, otherwise storage better! The biggest problem with a loft conversion is the loss of loft storage!
  14. Friends of mine have a grade 2 listed place in Hampshire, they were allowed to extend but this was subject to everything being in keeping etc ie specific windows etc (basically the build cost more). Worth speaking with the LA - in my experience they are very helpful in this situation.
  15. We had this problem..... I think the rules changed, basically velux windows didn't previously need BRC but do now - they had been installed more than 4 years previous and all was sorted by indemnity insurance. Retrospective BRC wasn't the issue, the time it takes to gain is!
  16. Hello, We were in contact before.... Wedding now booked for 23 Aug in Kent if your available and interested :) CC
  17. So which steam cleaners are recommended? Will look up Polti....
  18. Get a few quotes from recommended companies - they vary hugely depending on availability on the day and how late you book. Also depends on how big your house is and how much you need moving - a loft full will increase the cost. We paid ?1500 to move from a 4 bed house in ED to a village near Ashford in Kent. That included them packing everything the day before. The guys were fantastic, no breakages!
  19. Saw someone do the same to my partners car - there was around 10m of clear space in front of him but rather than pull forward, straighten up and then reverse back a bit he just tried to use the 1m of space behind him and failed. He bumped the bumper just as I walked past with a friend. I took photos and his number plate and asked for his insurance details which he was reluctant to give. I threatened to call the police at which point he was v apologetic and claimed there was no damage. There didn't appear to be any damage (slight crack in number plate), I was more angry at the total disregard and lack of care. Sadly seems to be very common in London.
  20. It's not size it's breed characteristics - some breeds are easier than others. I've grown up with dogs and my puppy Weimaraner is a challenge to say the least! Fortunately she has an amazing temperament and is fantastic with the kids - she is getting better by the day but is far harder than I ever remember my 12 year old Weimaraner being when he was a pup! Vizla's are lovely dogs and male fantastic family pets - just make sure you know what your taking on and the constant training that will be necessary the first few year.
  21. Resurrecting this thread to ask fir any recommendations as to which steam cleaner to go for? Those in the know would you recommend mop or cylinder? I have an old slate floor to clean with years of grime deep in the grout - been doing it by hand (hands and knees and scrubbing brush) but takes ages - dont mind comtinuing to get it clean but looking for somerhing to keep it clean going forward. Thank you :)
  22. There is a chap that walks in Dulwich Park every morning ( 630/45) who has 3. Lovely dogs but not an 'easy' dog. What you have read is correct. You must be willing to spend time training and be aware they can be destructive (chewing etc) and do need constant reminding of the training. Ie you must ensure you are pack leader! Not a dog to be left alone for long periods and lots of exercise. I have Weimaraners which are similar in temperament and character, my youngest is just 9 months and is obedient and lovely natured - still a handful though and she is a chewer! :(
  23. It's the no closing time that appealed to us. We have two bands the second of which is playing until 1230 am after which the party can continue until everyone falls into bed - we have suggested guests (that wish) can camp overnight! Loving the garden games idea :)
  24. We are getting married this year and having a marquee. I think it can work really well provided its organised properly - ie the marquee is able to cater for different weather conditions. You also need to think about electricity (generator?) and water (catering and toilets). There was a lot more to it than I anticipated but a decent marquee company does this all the time so can advise. Happy to share everything I've discovered!
