  1. hey Ladies, I'm up for it as well and it would be great to see some of you I haven't seen for months :) I can't do the 5th but it looks like nobody said 'no' to Dec 12, so should we pre-agree to that instead? xx
  2. I live by bellenden as well and love it. do any neighbours fancy a walk with the little ones? I only work on Thursdays so any other days are fine
  3. oh dear Ive just managed to go through all posts (this only shows how I missed the forum!). Glad everyone is as usual, ie sleep deprived, knackered but happy. lets make sure the new Family Room Admin never goes oh holiday, I wouldn't stand another loong two weeks :)
  4. welcome, and let's all hope you won't have too much work to do here. does it mean we are boring? :)
  5. it is probably too late now as the forum will close in 40 min (sob sob) but try toddler group at Copleston Centre (in a church hall on the corner of Copleston Rd and Danby St, SE15). Very good for toddlers as a lot of space to run around, an indoor slide, also there are always arts and craft activities, and book corners. There is a baby corner as well with matts and toys. The ladies who run it as very welcoming and friendly. and free coffee and tea for Mums :) Tue 10-12 fruit and cookies for kids 10.45 Songs and rhymes - 11.45 ?1 donation see you there x
  6. thanks for the Forum Mark, and enjoy your well-deserved break!
  7. We are off to sunny Barca for a few days to do some partying and sightseeing, and maybe a bit of shopping - all nice things you do without babies around! Any tips for good and cheap local food, bars and clubs, and flee markets welcome :)
  8. I need some advice please. Our bugaboo, bought in mothercare, still has a sticker on the chassis showing the warranty expiry date (it is a see-thru green sticker with mothercare logo and a date, I guess pretty standard for all prams bought through mothercare). Anyway my question is what do I do when I actually need the buggy repaired (still on warranty). Do I just go to any mothercare with it and ask for a free repair? Or do I need to contact mothercare headquarters somewhere through their website? Bearing in mind the appaling customer service in monthercare on rye lane I don't think I will get any assistance there ever, but maybe I am wrong. ALSO where do people go to get their bugaboo chassis fixed? thanks in advance m
  9. thanks for the post Rach because I was just about to ask the same question. we are looking for a week in the sun in mid Oct when our son is 15 months. We looked at Sardinia and Sicily average temps and they can go as low as 14 degrees so I wouldnt risk it with the little one if you want a beach holiday. Egypt might be the winner - Fuschia - I remember you went last year, where exactly did you go (what hotel, what town?). cheers
  10. I've only just seen the whole conversation and wanted to scream: 'NO, DON'T WORRY MUMS, MA IS NOT TAXED!!!' after Molly's first post. I checked about three times with HMRC when I was doing my tax return and I even have an email somewhere confirming it is not taxed. And ClareC - how did you get ?130 a week? I was on ?117 :)
  11. Ive read about 7 posts and had to stop so dont know if anyone recommended but we use SMA gold and never had problems witb it. mind you we've never tried anything else because SMA worked well. good luck. Does anyone alse hates expressing as much as I did? I found it the most boring thing in the world, sitting in a room on my own and pressing for loooong minutes when I could have had a well-deserved nap instead!
  12. everytime we have this problem we try not to use Calpol and always try wet cloths, cold teething rings, ice wrapped in cloths first, but Calpol is the only thing that calms our teething boy down I am afraid :( Nothing else works and I am not keen on giving him too much of it either but if this is the only way to stop the pain...
  13. Hi Belle, I still remember these first few weeks of little sleep very well, and I spent most of the time on my own with hubby working late. Mothercare wibrating chair was brilliant, the wibration put my baby to sleep or just kept him entertained and calm. I can lend you mine but only for about 5 weeks as I pormised it to a friend who is having a baby at the end of Aug. Your baby should sleep better in 5 weeks time anyway, fingers crossed. Pls let me know if you want it. and good luck with everything x
  14. I can also recommend it for both babies and mums. Try Justine at the The Bellenden Therapies on Bellenden Rd, she did wonders to my sore back (and Ive tried all possible massages you can get in the area, and nothing worked) and her treatment settled my baby nicely when he was just a few weeks old. I know other mums whose babies she helped with colic, constipation etc. She works Tuesdays and there is a walk-in clinic 1-2pm I think http://www.bellendentherapies.co.uk/
  15. I can. found one by searching the forum! ;-P
  16. hi Strawbs, I don't open these posts every time, why would I (unless I wanted a plumber) - there is the same lists of names and contact numbers again and again... hi bagbadwolf, I have NOTHING against people enquireing about plumbers (and I am not a plumber, and Ive used the forum's plumber recommendations before) but what annoys me is enquireing about plumbers so many times every day. I undersdatn some users might not know about the search engine, fair enough, but many times you don't even have to do a search as there are the same 'looking for a plumber posts' on one page. anyway I posted it yesterday after seeing three plumber posts on one page and after a broken night, so maybe it wasn't the best idea for a rant. but it still annoys me ;-)
  17. Just opened the forum's page and saw yet another 'plumber wanted' post. Oh dear... 'Looking for a plumber, builder, gardner etc' - why do these posts keep appearing every single day??? why not do a quick search on the forum and get your answer straight away, rather than adding yet another 'looking for a plumber' post??? sometimes you don't even need to do a seacrh as there are similar posts one after another on the same page. and then you get the same lists of names and phone numbers... Anyone else finds it, er, annoying?
  18. hallo, I have a massive, very-fast-growing ivy growing in one part of my garden, and would like to take bits of it and plant in another part. Can anyone advise me how to take a cutting (I pressume that's what i need to do) without damaging it to ensure it will grow in its new place? I've tried many times but with no luck - all nmy cuttings dry out within hours. many thanks!
