  1. Not tried at those times of year but you could probabyl book far enough in advance to make sure. I've never had a problem getting a booking at one of the ones near the station.
  2. very good - at the moment they are offering ?1 off per hour at certain times too. maybe if you sign up you can use my name and then I think we both get some free credit. PM me if you want to do this.
  3. How do we know you're a sensible adult and not one of the c.nts that buys the things and gives/sells them on to the kids that do this stuff?
  4. Thanks - I'll take boring over unloved and unappreciated every day.
  5. I think you're right about those... but just to be clear, there are some stump things at East Dulwich station, on the ramp to the London Bridge platform!! Just not sure I see the point if they do put them in - they'll doubtless break and stop people getting on their train in the morning. Or maybe they are for Oyster card readers?
  6. Okay, so your other half has been shagging the neighbour; it doesn't stop you reading properly. The London Bridge PLATFORM.
  7. Does anyone else think the new concrete blocks at the bottom of the London Bridge platform look suspiciously like they might end up at the bottom of a ticket gate?
  8. to be fair that is ludlow thomson they have two separate buildings, so maybe they are just making one bigger and closing the other?
  9. It basically reduces the signal power coming down your wire to make it more manageable for the receiving equipment. I would imagine modern stuff should have automatic attenuation built in but you never know. Imagine having a stereo which could produce unlimited volume through your speakers with no distortion.. if you turned it up really loud you wouldn't actually be able to hear it properly because your ears couldn't cope with the level of sound output - turned down to a more sensible level they would be fine again... its a bit like that.
  10. Would I be right in thinking that this migth be to do with proximity to the transmitter - if so maybe an attenuator in between the antenna and the box might work to prevent it being overdriven? Or did I read somewhere else that dawson heights basically puts this area in a reception shadow and so the signal is too weak?
  11. Reality check at table 7 please! http://news.hereisthecity.com/news/business_news/7851.cntns
  12. don't get me wrong, it is a great shop, but as a few other people have also noted - sometimes you get the dregs and it seems to happen more often recently, even when the boxes are full of stuff... you can't inspect all the stuff they put in the bags!
  13. Do you think it will open soon? Only the last few times I've been to the grocer on northcross road the stuff has been a bit ropey...
  14. too much gossip girl methinks and there have been a few viewings of #17 too
  15. Bank by bike or train to London Bridge then onto Cannon Street (lazy). Would be faster by bike but then of course you need to shower.
  16. That is definitely springers - maybe two sittings of 20 covers in and out, or a typo as i would guess at 40 total.
  17. Yes - the same speed service was ?11 cheaper a month with Be at only ?14. However, their "BeBox" wireless router is not the best, and should be positioned upside down to stop it overheating (this actually works, the air vents are in the bottom). Incidentally, if you are getting slow speeds on your line this is probably down to interference from extension sockets dotted around your home, amongst other things. Basically a third wire on the telephone circuit acts like an antenna and produces a lot of interference, which means you sync at a lower speed. This is only within your house so the BT person that said you should get 6Mbit+ is probably right. You can get BT to install you a more modern master socket, or as I have read, find said master socket in your house (its the one with the big capacitor, which the other socktets don't have) and remove the wire that is connected to terminal three on the back. However, apparently this is illegal as its BT property and it will stop your other phones from ringing, not a problem if you have DECT or other portables, but it will most likely put your speed up to close to what it should be. Lots of Google information on this and legal workarounds should you wish to try.
  18. Chap from Accuread came round this morning - he seemed legit. Had his badge and knew which company I was with and the correct meter number was on his little machine. I guess I'll jsut have to wait and check th eonline billing to see if it appears. Thought I was a guy who lived there 18 months+ ago though.
  19. I have recently switched from Zen who provided an absolutely excellent service on to Be, who have also seemed very good, but early days so far.
  20. Like everything seems to be nowadays, they are interested only in catering for the lowest common denominator at the highest price and lowest effective outcome for everyone concerned.
  21. Also consider that a school with a good reputation attracts from all over, especially where private transport is available to ferry to/from all over London. I went to an independent near the centre of Birmingham and while there were quite a few people within walking distance, absolutely the majority travelled from all parts of the West Midlands, despite there being private/independent choices a lot closer to home.
  22. But nobody would use it if you had to pay and could still park near the station!
  23. Ultimately this never going to be resolved easily - there are bits near the station that would almost certainly benefit from a CPZ, my road included. In fact given the church I'd like a 24/7 variant with the zones done by street. A neighbour told me the other day that a friend of theirs who lives in Peckham comes and parks in our road when they go on holiday because otherwise the car would be missing bits or gone altogether if left there too long. Ridiculous. Councillors - are you considering a partial implementation - say a CPZ near the station but not round the upper east side etc. or are these things all or nothing? If its a partial one then how to resolve the road just out of the zone which will probably end up worse than before?
