  1. Dark chocolate eh? I like it! Took him to docs today and its a vial throat infection. No antibiotics needed at this stage. When I rang the nursery they said lots of kids had been off with a cough and temperature. I even met a lady in the waiting room whose little boy had the same symptoms. So its doing the rounds. He has seemed to turned a corner today thankfully.
  2. Thanks Otto, I think you might be right. The cough just came out of nowhere and has got steadily worse. He is not a well bunny at all bless him. What did you use to treat the cough do you mind me asking?
  3. What do people recommend for chesty coughts? My two year old has had a shocker for the past 2 days - its just come from nowhere with no cold beforehand. We have a slight temperature too but its the cough I am concerned about. Its the worst one he has ever had. Answers on a postcard please!
  4. Hello there, I was wondering if I could gain some info from this fantastic pool of mums and dads in the area. My 2 year old boy has been in pretty much the same bed time routine since he was 4-weeks old. For the past month or so the routine has not been working and he has been sat whigeing in his cot up until 9pm - which as you can imagine makes our tea time quite tense with the warblings of 'mummmmmmmmmmmmmmy, dadddddddddddddy' in the background. What the routine was: 7 - 7.30pm: bathtime, milk and bed! I realise that now he is two, that things need to change and he is obviously not as tired as he once was. I know I need to incorporate books etc into this, but I'm not too sure how to go about it! If anyone would be so kind as to share their ideas or the way that they do things I would be very grateful! Thanks, Charlotte
  5. Hello there, I am not sure if I am posting this in the right place or not but my husband says it will get moved if its in the wrong bit, so here goes. I work off Peckham High Street on Bournemouth Road, and since February there has been two stray cats that live together under some arches. They are in beautiful condition and are friendly but cautious. Locals feed them and I think Celia Hammond have also helped out. When I spoke with the lovely old lady who looks after them today she said that Celia Hammond had neutered the cats but had no plans to rehome them. The old lady also told me that she is being rehoused soon and is worried about who will feed them when she has gone. With it coming up to winter soon, I am getting very concerned about them both. I would have them in a heartbeat, but I think my two feline friends would not be happy about this! Any ideas? I have been in touch with Celia Hammond in the past and the lady who called me asked if I knew anyone who would fancy taking them on, so I am sure they would help with the rehoming of the cats. Does anyone want to rehome them? One of them is fluffy and pure black - stunning. And the other one is white with patches of grey tabby. The lady who feeds them told me that they were really very timid at first, but they are clearly not anymore and with alot of work they could be lovely pets. I had to post about them as they really are on my mind and I was hoping there might be someone out there who could help? With winter coming up I think it would be rotten for the poor cats to be literally on the streets. Any help or advice much appreciated! Charlotte
  6. Does anyone know when this will be reopened? Mi oven just blew up and a nice chicken kofte will fit the bill nicely. HAS to be from here though...
  7. I too saw this on my way back from the gym at about 7ish. It did look pretty serious.
  8. Jack Barker is also my son!! And I have also PM'd! Thanks so much for this Loz! Your a star!
  9. I put in a rant of complaint via the Concordia website after yet another shocking experience with the reception staff. It was the weeks leading up to this new system and as a way of apologising Mr Fradd called me to explain the system etc and deal with my problem personally. It was then that I realised the surgery had been taken over by a private company with no concern for the patients of Melbourne Grove. I left Dr Dewji on LL when I fell pregnant cos I found him to be totally useless. I joined MG cos it was local with a good reputation. Throughout my pregnancy I wasn't able to get to see a midwife for any of my checks but this was cool cos I just booked in to see Dr Brew Graves instead. When my baby was born and he had colic and 2 fraught and dangerously on the edge parents. Penny Ackland looked after us and made life bearable by seeing us at the drop of a hat, even if the waiting room was full. In all I was so impressed with MG. From Lancashire originally where its not a miracle to get to see your GP that week, I found the service to be as good as back home. Now Dr BG has left - crying shame, and I know from direct conversations that all the other doctors are pissed off with concordia's taking over. Home doctors are hard to come by. Never mind a surgery packed to the rafters with them. I too have had many missed 'telephone consultations'. More worryingly one involving my 11 month old. Ill stick around a bit longer but its not gonna take much for me to walk.
  10. My husband aka Ratty also saw this and sent me a pic on his phone to me as I was at work. Will see if he can add said pic to this thread. He said they had machine guns! Wonder what it was all about?
  11. I too saw this directly outside of my house. Not sure what it was. At about 6pm there was about 4 policemen, some Community Support Officers and a young black lad who was very wound up. Another young lad showed up and then the black lad that was already with the police stood up and walked away. The police didn't look best pleased by this and started to follow him up the road. It looked to me like this was then the end of it. But obviously not if you saw stuff happening an hour later. How do you know it was regarding a weapon or a search? There was another lady on the scene who I recognise from living round here. May well ask her when I see her next!
  12. Ah mate, cant believe your going! Hope baby club still goes on without you. Thanks for all your hard work. You will be missed. Charlotte and Jack x
  13. Wicked! I was wondering what would go there. Its about time some new businesses came to this part of ED. Good luck and welcome.
  14. I was followed home in similar circumstances many years ago, and also lead the person directly to my door. Only because that was where I wanted to go as I was scared and freaked out and my instinct was to go home. Its now always easy to be cunning as suggested when your frightened.
  15. I totally agree...from a few accidents that my Ma and hubby have had. Right through to when I had my son there, and had to take him back a few times, Kings have never been nothing but brilliant. Through lots of different depts they have always been marvellous. God love em x
  16. I am said wife, and did not screech! Just got a bit over excited as had been complaining that despite Pulling supposidly being set in Peckham there has not ever been any Peckham sights to be seen. Then low and behold a scene in the Tulip Cafe. Walked past today and noticed it had closed. V sad.
  17. I just saw Erin O'Connor - model - in Sainsburys with another equally tall looking model like bloke. She is actually alot prettier in real life.
  18. Does anyone know of any good ante natal yoga classes in the area please?? :)
  19. As you correctly point out Fractitioner, I may get shot if I persue said Loud MC-like noises! It does seem to be coming from direction of the new flats as illustrated above. Thanks for helpful hints and tips anyway folks!
  20. Seriously! Does anyone hear what I'm on about ever? And are we really to think its some funky kind of yoof club getting 'real' with the skids???
  21. The White Horse is by far the best. Me and my family have been going for years and years and its cheap and totally fabulous! The woman who cooks there is a star and does pretty darned good food during the week also. The Rye is dreadful for food. Totally over priced and over salted. And who is that tedious woman behind the bar who is way too attentive and has stalker potential written all over her. East European I think? Scares the bejaysus out of me. White Horse all the way anyway...tangented a bit there!
  22. Liking what you have to say Ratty...makes a change to have someone with a bit of knowledge instead of just an opinion based on nothing other than their own snobby values. What next? Calling them plebs???
  23. Has anyone got a clue what that MC-ing is all about that I noticed last Wednesday, and this Wednesday and Thursday after about 5pm? It spreads right across Sainsburys car park and all through the houses close by and it is really really really annoying! Its a constant shouting person to the background of really crappy music that depending on where you stand is really loud! Is it some kind of yoof club, or just some annoying scabby gits polluting our atmosphere with this crap? Please I really dont want to sound like an old whingebag, but it is seriously offensive and hard to locate where it is coming from?!
  24. Plebs eh? Not supporting them myself but a bit disgusted by your snotty 'holier than thou' attitude to them!
