  1. I just found an old Shads cassette and transferred it to mp3. The track is called Skewiff and it's a decent bit of early 80s power pop/rock. I can't be bothered to put it on YouTube but if someone else wants to feel free. PM me and I'll send it over
  2. Electric scooters are all over Europe and everyone enjoys them. Here, they are technically illegal but so far the government/cops aren't doing anything about it. I foresee that the spoilsports will spoil the sport though. Helmets, tax and insurance and hefty fines for transgression are sadly inevitable. We're that kind of society
  3. I hear the do-as-they-likeys are in residence at the Fort this year Bob You'll fit in a treat
  4. It has and I know I'm flogging a dead horse here but what does 'viable' mean? I think in this context it means a bit expensive to repurpose It's one of the last remaining Victorian edifices in the whole area and I reckon it would have been worth a few quid to retain it. And in response to your 'bit of tarmac' comment on the previous page, the council resurfaced and paved the whole of Court Lane completely unnecessarily. The machines were down there for months. I'd love to know how much that cost
  5. > > I do wonder what people think the building should > actually be used for.. I gather you're no fan of monolithic Victorian architecture Fish Perhaps then you appreciate the irony of knocking down a hospital wing to build a health centre
  6. They had a shelf at the end of the ward with a sign saying 'Crash' on it. On the shelf was a mallet
  7. Oh well, never mind You don't know what you've got till it's gone
  8. 'It is, of course, a lovely building, and would still be fit for many purposes' Exactly. Some things just need preserving for their own sake. In East Dulwich, there are precious few old buildings and one of them is to be levelled without so much as a whimper Pulling that down is vandalism and demonstrates the same poverty of imagination that permits the construction of identikit flats all over the borough
  9. Poorly built? It's over a hundred years old and the only thing bringing it down is the wrecker's ball
  10. Plenty of money around for resurfacing roads that don't need it, for banners on lamp posts and propaganda magazines. No money to renovate a wonderful old building Welcome to Southwark
  11. Yes it looks like the barbarism is unstoppable. I just tried to get it listed but I couldn't locate the planning permission details https://historicengland.org.uk/listing/apply-for-listing/ If anyone feels like giving it a go
  12. Back to the thread. Why is it being demolished? Does anyone have any facts?
  13. Is the remaining wing really being demolished?
  14. So the remaining wing of the hospital is to be bulldozed? W***ers *** = ank
  15. You're doing a great job there Matt. The building and its 'garden' have been an eyesore for years. I'm in the vicinity. PM me for a contact number. I can help with water
  16. When our two gerbils Ronnie and Reggie died, we buried them at sea If you know what I mean
  17. Lorry loads of super drugs delivered after midnight? That takes me back
  18. But we look like Tuscany
  19. And before that it was called Get Stuffed, and before that it was a chemicals store with a swinger's club in the basement
  20. You should line your stomach first and maybe get a dog?
  21. I think there should be more of them. Every lamp post on Lordship Lane and all the side streets would benefit from the picture of an old man, or a church (that is in Peckham) or a totem pole (which is on Peckham Rye. No matter that some trees are obscured. Who needs ugly trees that constantly need upkeep and drop ghastly leaves all over the place? Without a doubt the PR agency that came up with the slogan 'Me and ED' will be getting an award for their campaign. It certainly gives me a feeling that I now belong to a community that I have foolishly neglected to notice that I had belonged to for a number of years. And in general terms, we need more signage, yellow lines and more announcements, and they should all be louder. Councillors take note We and ED demand action
