As DavidH discribed it as SLUMLIKE on another thread surprised H &S have not closed it before. Maybe busy with other trendy LL shops? Perhaps the happy staff have helped to keep it open.

I dont find Iceland slumlike in fact it is very clean and very acceptable as a shop. Please explain why you find it slumlike. Or is it because you live in a far different world to other people
  3. "But a park clogged with cars is undesirable for all park users, so proposals to limit them are worth considering." People seem to forget or have no idea that Dulwich Park had parking all round the perimeter road in past years until it was restricted to just the Dulwich entrance and the small car park. It has all ready been considered and a workable and lasting solution has been provided. Dulwich park is not clogged with cars. So not sure why this is being considered. Would love to see tired old and young children, bikes, dogs and toys etc etc being taken on a bus or walking for 30 minutes after a days expedition to the local park or one reached by travel
  4. "The surrounding streets are best bet and will be the natural plan B for those that drive and don't want to be constrained in how long their day at the park lasts." And then they will become CPZ producing more nconvience to all but best of all MORE FINES
  5. rahrahrah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > What is this in response to? Has a problem been > identified and if so, how? There does seem to be a great interest in changing and enforcing things in Dulwich Park, is there an agenda we should be made aware of. Or is it the park is slowly being being made available to only immediate Dulwich residents. Keep the rif. raf out. Appears everything Southwark is now doing comes down to producing fines. Oh to go back to my youth when the park was open and free. When you could row all round the lake. Anyone remember that era, playing pirates and falling in?

Why do we need a local vigilante group to help with speed enforcement. This is the job of trained police officers not people who have their own agenda and will do all they can to push it. Think bikes on pavements and dogs in parks. You only have to read postings on this forum to be worried.

Pot calling the kettle black. More aggressive compared to where?
  9. What will people talk about now in toasted? Strange how people coped in the past that lived locally with traffic
  10. Hardly anyone goes into Iceland. You must be living in a different road on another planet. I feel sure some of the wonderful less busy independents would welcome Icelands foot fall.
  11. Thank you for reply. But the figures will be high if you take reports from 2005 to now on a major traffic road to a local road. Ll is not what you call a local road. How are the incidents reported and classified. Govt costs. Think of a number ad put it in a report. ?14000 for a minor accident. What is a minor accident. Bent bumper

A little misleading as the majority of incidents shown are mostly slight and the figures go back to 2005 .Just how are these figures logged and confirmed.

Believe from melbourne grove to the roundabout. Community council passed it at a meeting sometime ago. 16 people wrote in for it 3 against. Cllrs believed it was needed because of the amount of people shopping in this short stretch of road. They dont have to consult people
  14. It could be a niche shopping experience with only 2 people in the shop at any time. A shopping advisor on hand to sell the very limited but exclusive stock carried. Just what ED needs.

  16. Saw a Southwark periscope car parked on double yellow lines outside the dog in Dulwich Village this morning with its money earning thing up and computer on Southwark must be short of money

  18. When ever bills are produced by the Council be it for major works or actual charges on Service Charges always request a full and detailed breakdown of costs. From experience charges can be duplicated or just wrong.
  19. I would ask that you walk up the road from the "village" to Grove Park on the pavement opposite , then on the house side and look. A picture is worth a 1000 words.
  20. If people are worried about gentrification and the up and downside it brings perhaps pressure could be brought to bear on Southwark Council to renovate properties they own. This would make the area better for all A classic example is Chadwick Road from ?Bellenden Village? to Grove Park. Home owners there are defeated in their efforts to make the area acceptable because Southwark does not look after its properties and never have done. New/old owners who renovated their properties are surrounded by dross on the street. It is amazing that grants were given to all, including ?Bellenden Village? and surrounding streets but not Chadwick Road which has been left. However Grove Park which follows on is looked after very well as is Camberwell Grove and Grove Lane I have been here 47 years and have seen the Council bigging up some areas/streets to the determent of others. If the Council wont do anything don?t knock others that come in and do.
  21. People who want a better tomorrow and not the concrete block that is there now. Open plaza not a block house to the past. Or we could just leave the mess that is there now
  22. How many other people walking normally on a pavement for pedestrians have been hit by cars moving outwards on this exit road? From this estate since it has been built? From the earlier attached picture of the pavement the cyclist must have been going at a speed that he could not stop If your child had been hit by one of these people and hurt or scarred for life it would be interesting to hear if some of the comments would stay the same
  23. Is it not time that Cllr Barber made some sort of comment? He was contacting Southwark Officers on 12th August regarding this Would make commenting more sensible if it was known what this is all about
  24. They have 10 days and then a holding response if they cannot be bothered.
  25. They probably don't need to get public approval but if they go ahead with what ever they have in mind they can always say we held a public survey/consultation and taking it to the extreme if only one person wants a dog free park they can say we are implementing what the public want. Rather like CPZ put up a notice somewhere, a few yes's and there it is done and dusted. How may people look at notice boards when they go to the park or trawl the Southwark website for such information for fun Consultations always imply the plan is on the drawing board to be nodded thru Again what complaints triggered this survey what happens in other parks may not effect Dulwich Park What is needed is park staff to enforce the rules but are any Southwark still employed
