    Euro 2008

Ok, I'll stop being such a "girl" ha! Spain deserved to win last night, they completely dominated the game, I was very disappointed in the way Russia played in comparison to how they played before, felt they didn't play to their full potential, and perhaps they still had hangups about being beaten, what was it? 4-0/4-1 in the qualifying heats for Euro 08 by Spain. Spain will also, hopefully, whip Germany's lacklustre team who I feel were lucky to have gotten through, in the final, Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole!!

On another note, and still in relation to the footie, did you get a look at some of those guys! I was like, woah! come to mama!(not too nice when they decide to hack their lungs up on the pitch though!) Come on girls, (and possibly boys)lets have a voting on the hotest players in the comp so far, (Spain has more than their fair share even if I do say so myself!)
  3. But would I go so far as to consider privately educating my child/children (in EAST DULWICH) if I could afford to? Well that is another matter entirely, actually, (even if I could afford it), I would probably be happy sending my child to a good state school as I believe I am sure he or she would get just as good an education. Home schooling, nope, not at all, because although the child is getting one on one tutoring, he/she would, I fear, lose out so much more socially in so many areas and to be honest, they would end up quite bored, a friend of mine opted to pull her kids out of school to home teach them and has admitted they have probs making friends because of lack of intersocial skills and they become bored much quicker and so attentions spans wander etc. she did let them re-enter mainstream education though after a year or two and was pleasently surprised to see the they were bumped up a year as they were way ahead. God only knows, each to their own, these are merely observations, apart from the home schooling which is based on friend's experience, hope I haven't trod on toes or upset anyone X
  4. I don't think it will cause too much of a stink or impact anyway, not at ?7K a year! and no recognisable qualifications when the children leave to start employment, or higher education, how would that work if they want to go to uni if they don't do GCSEs at the school?
  5. I give up, I must be a million miles away from understanding your point of view Jamma, but understand you are of course entitled to your own opinion, we all have our opinions, correct or incorrect they may be and priorities, we'll just have to agree to disagree on this current one.
  6. Sending my child there will not improve the quality of the teachers/teaching systems there Jamma, there a fundamental problems obviously within the school which need to be sorted, nor will sending my child there make other parents be better parents and discipline their children or try to encourage them to be better members of society etc.
  7. Come on now, lets everybody hold hands, I feel a chorus of "Kumbaya" coming on, only teasing everybody, more so myself than anyone else ;-)
  8. I don't know what I am. :-$ I know (or hope) there is a force greater than I somewhere, there must be, but with the corruption of so many faiths and their so called religious leaders, I have unfortunately lost my faith and ability to take anything they say at face value, so many hypocritically live very different lives to the ones they say we must live. But, because I feel there must be something out there (POST EAST DULWICH)I try to live my life the best way I can, try to do no harm to anyone or anything living, try to see the good in people (although sometimes thats a challenge) well you get the gist, and hope that if when I do pop my clogs (POST EAST DULWICH), if there is such a thing as an afterlife, I'll hopefully be in the good bit. Keef Nothing wrong with standing up and being counted as a Christian if thats what you believe in, so many have lost their faith!
  9. .....and they ended up that way because? erm I didn't/wouldn't send my child there? Hey, maybe if I send my little one there, he'll turn out just the same and can then mix with society, sorry, but do you see my point? In relation to those who wish to get their kids into good schools as opposed to leaving them in schools that are not just working out, I think personal choice is the issue. You can move the kids to those schools, but what about the teachers? and the school board who ultimately are in charge of the running of the education system in their school? I agree that good schooling is a fundamental right for every parent to expect, and people should not have to move postcodes etc. to ensure a good education, but this is the way it is at the moment and things won't change with the movement of children into less efficient schools, it starts a lot higher up than that and takes a long time too.
  10. Awww Mooos, what a sweetie, how could anyone say anything awful after such a polite (timid though it may be) post. :)

Hey, how about we go one better and not only kick out our housemates, hook up and watch it together ha! I'll bring the beer!
  13. Wow, thanks for the speedy reply X
  14. I've heard that private e-mail addresses have been known to be made available/disclosed to other users and that admin can tell when one person comes on with multiple identities, how true is that, or was I hoaxed too?

Its a shame though, the Turks really did deserve to win, the Germans were all washed up, how awful, I was hoping they would pull off a last minute blinder again, it is so nice to see it when any underdogs go through to the finals, although Turkey in their own right have an excellent team. I really enjoyed it when at the World Cup, a few years ago, the Cameroon Team (well quite a fews years ago!) looked like they were gona upset the applecart, or more recently the South Korean Team looked like they were gona cause upset! I just love it! they play on nothing more than raw skill and heart, love the fans and the sea of colours, although the brazilian team fans take some beating, what about that sea of orange for the Dutch! Shame my flatmates don't understand me or don't get what the appeal is.
  16. I do have to agree though with someone who mentioned it earlier on this thread, it is not just the schools who should take the blame when things go wrong or have sole responsibility, if parents can't be bothered to support their kids and the schools by ensuring children are taught how to behave correctly or if they do not instill positive learning attitudes into their kids, they cannot then throw their hands up in the air and say the system let my kids down!

Sorry, I don't know what went on here in this thread today and between who, I'm just sick as a dog we didn't qualify, hope I haven't stepd on toes. Makes things so much more exciting when you are actually part of an event, and willing your country to win, (even though we never do!) Just killed it for me this year.

Thats because they are a bunch of spoilt, overpaid, overrated, lazy brats! Instead they drive around in their flashy cars, not knowing what to do with salaries that could feed third world countries for decades! Not even qualifying, jeeez! They need to do a "Rocky" and get back to the basics, training hard, training regularly and training together more often and with coaches/managers who know what they are doing, what a laughing stock we must be!
  20. Can't help feeling that the people there have been left to die at the murderous hands of Mr "Hitler" Mugabe, they have my deepest sympathies, he even blatantly models himself on Hitler now. Shame there isn't any oil in Zimbabwe because then America, (with Britain in hot pursuit) and NATO's immediate reaction and "intervention" would have been almost instantaneous! I watched a documentary the other night on the situation and found it extremely harrowing so much so that it made me cry. Shame on this World and some people we live with in it.

I'd love to see Russia win the whole thing. They are only kids, but just never give up.
  22. Wot asset said. God forbid, bad parents eh! Want to see their children do well, perhaps better than they did themselves in lives, want to break the poverty circle and guess what, work hard so ensure their kids have more choices than they did in life, should lock them all up in stocks in the village square I say, start the round up now!
  23. Sorry, not for one moment suggesting everyone is unemployed, or on low income, but when did people who choose to send their children to different schools become responsible or accountable to those who don't, and are happy enough sending them to their local schools, if you are happy with your school fine, if not, then move, but don't berate people who chose to opt out, its all about choices.

When parents desert > poor schools they are both behaving rationally and > sending a message to those responsible for running > the school that all is not well - if their is no > response, or the response is inadequate, don't > shoot the messenger. I have to agree with DaveR, where my children's future is concerned, I would be selfish, I work hard for my money, why would I bother waiting round for a school to improve,(if it had a bad report or name to begin with) put my child in the school (thereby chancing on a lottery as to whether or not he/she would get a half decent education)just for the sake of the community and for the sake of those on low or no income who don't like it? It is my perogative to give the best I can to my child's future, I would (when I eventually have some) send my child to the best school I could, and yes, even move postcodes for better schooling, because guess what, working hard and making informed decision will only help to broaden my child's horizons and if I consciously made the decision to do this in order to improve the lives of my children and give them a better chance for the future, I don't need anyone else jumping up and down screaming, its not fair! it's not fair! I've been there, done that, and decided to do something about it, i.e. got off my arse and work hard.
