  1. As I said before, if it was just a matter of calling Peckham Rye grubby or messy, as I said you could understand that, all markets are the same the world over, but I don't actually currently have the time to trawl through every post and actually quote the various terms and comments I have heard used to describe it, basically "e-coli ridden", "stinking", "smelly" etc. the list goes on, "normal" shops! "I wouldn't shop there" walk there, etc. or its just that people from East Dulwich would have no need to shop there, i.e. they are white and have no need for ethnic shops, foods, clothing, anything??? Come on guyz, you've got to get it, tell me you are not sooooo ignorant as to not see why people would get upset?
  2. Saying its scruffy, I can deal with, wasn't mainly pointing just at you, but to go so many steps further and bascially say it is a crime ridden, unhygienic, e-coli ridden, smelly, decrepit cesspool of a place to live in isnt kind. Not saying you said all of those things personally, but thats what feedback I am getting.
  3. What a coincidence then eh Clive! I randomly pick 2 areas I have lived in, and you have lived there too, I often saw live rats when I lived in Shepherds Bush it was that dirty (on the Edward Woods Estate, Queensdale Crescent), where did you live Clive? (Coming from the vast wasteland before they began building the new huge shopping centre). Shepherds Bush market was pretty filthy too, and Barking isn't that nice either, or the areas of Custom House.
  4. "there is a fair bit more rubbish than the average London IMO," in Peckham Clive?, then you have obviously never visited Hackney or Shepherds Bush, or East London, but then again, they are also mainly populated by people of ethnic origin,so what do I know. Maybe the government needs to look at maintaining areas where they choose to place the majority of ethnic peoples to live and perhaps concentrate as much time in maintaining the area, making it a better place for children etc. educationally as well, because I know where I live, sometimes you can't get to work for tripping over people cleaning the streets, we have lovely, very well maintained parks etc. makes you wonder sometimes, though hope I haven't now scattered cat amongst pigeons. By the way, I am of mixed racial heritage (afro-carribean and european)
  5. I can actually see the point that Snoozequeen is making, and I understand in part why she finds the fact that some of the people living in ED would find that particular food smells, meat smells etc. from other countries to be offensive enough to comment on i.e. quite a few people on here have commented that Rye Lane stinks and is dirty, I even know people personally who, when having to drive through Peckham day or night, lock their car doors and wind up the windows, whereas I would feel completely different, and would, as in any area of the world, just be cautious of my safety if alone late at night and be aware that crime happens everywhere, yup, even in ED. I do understand the mentality of people in this current climate of violence, but a lot of how people perceive things is kind of irrational and I am sorry to say sometimes bred through ignorance, woah, lots of black people so there must be lots of crime! Would you not take offence that someone found that your local food shops or markets smelly? I know I did when cooking xmas dinner and my greek neighbour complained about the stink the spouts were kicking up! and the fact that she had to close her windows against the stench! I was completely offended, up in arms and defensive! Peckham, from what I hear is vibrant, colourful and bouncy, with something for everyone, should they ever dare to venture down there! (as it seems)

I've noticed that too, and where do all the socks go? I know I put nothing but pairs into the washing machine, but there are always unmatched single socks left over after the wash has finished! Wasps! yes what is with them? they serve no purpose other than to irritate and annoy humans and by making them launch into techno ravedance overdrive in the middle of the street filled with other commuters as you try to swat them away! and explain that you are in fact allergic to them (even if you are not!) What is the point?

I think it may be the opposite, as if menstrual cycles are all the same it stands to reason that ovulation will all be approximately around the same time so will then lead to impregnation at roughly the same time apart from the alpha which may be a few days earlier, so make the Alpha leader slightly that much bigger, how that translates to humans is anyone's guess, but may be more appropriate in relation to caveman times.
  9. Or is it that should there be a fertile man around, all the females of the "pack" fall pregnant at the same time, as in the animal kingdom, thats if he gets around to "servicing" them all, as it were. No, too many personal topics, but am interested to know the reason.
  10. (and hopefully some replys to them) I have always wondered why the menstrual cycles of women suddenly (well within a few months) start regulating so that they all basically become due on/are on their cycles all together, (no matter what time of the month you are due on, you can guarantee that within a few months, all the females within the household eventually regulate so that they all come on within a day or so of eachother and so you then have a household of women PMT-ing together, I have found this in every place I have shared. Can anyone explain why and what purpose does this serve?
  11. Came to visit, liked the area quite vibrant and I was more impressed than I expected to be, Grove Vale quite close to BR and good for getting to work from, am making a few appointments to come down and actually view inside some of the properties I looked at over the weekend, sometimes, if you're lucky you can get to view without an appointment or going through the estate agents, what I used to do was look very obviously at the outside of the property, knock on the door and and ask could I borrow a pen as I wanted to write the estate agent's number down for this property so I could make an appointment to view, you'd be quite surprised, quite a few people say well if its just a quick look you want, come on in! Though come to think of it this is not a sensible thing to do, but as a lone woman you appear less threatening, but obviously if a man answers the door and there is no sign of another female in the property then I give it a miss and say I'll go via the estate agents, not ideal I know and it could be potentially dangerous, but does save time sometimes especially when it is hard to get time off work to go view properly!

  13. Interesting topic, and nice to get away from the rather smutty chats, although they were at times entertaining! I also thought, my god this is another one of "those" threads, although I am not prudish and am game for a laugh. Who can you think of who have been the most horrible of posters/violent or abusive? Or have you ever had a go at trying to match up different forum names to the same person? because sometime people do take on other characters, but normally after time you can usually spot those who have just changed their usernames (if you know them well enough and know their political sways etc opinions on certain subjects) we used to call it baiting on my uni forum, post a subject known to be close to the persons heart and just watch the little wormies crawl out the woodwork! but I guess, now that I've said that, anyone doing that will completely avoid any inflamable topics!
  14. Am off to East Dulwich today, looking at 1 bed properties, anyone live near Deventer Crescent, Underhill Road, Derwent Grove or Grove Vale? Are these all quite central to the hustle and bustle of life in ED?, I don't want to live too far away from where all the life is in some really quiet part of ED, are they near Lordship Lane where all the shops are? Many thanks for any help, that or I could wait until I get there and have a good look around myself, :-$
  15. Very interesting to note that it is mostly men replying to this thread, unless of course the ladies are reserving their rights to decorum by not discussing such personal matters/things on the internet, (or maybe its just too damn early ha!)
  16. Thought I'd add my two pence worth! Isn't it weird though, I was always under the impression that if you checked out a guys hands and feet (not that that is what I look for first) it gave one an indication of what one might expect in the bedroom, that isn't really true because I've seen some really big beefy guyz whose are somewhat severely lacking in those areas and yet some really slim, pubescent looking boys who are like, woah! where the hell were you hiding that! Apparently men check out women's hand and feet sizes, (so my male friends tell me) as an indication too, as it is not just them men that come in different sizes, if you know what I mean....ha! ;-)

Having visions of my possibly soon to be new neighbours running round in their undies in the street! yup! certainly doesn't sound like a boring place to live, thats for sure.>:D<
  18. Ha! will bear that in mind (damn those Claphamites, so elitist/so broke (delete as appropriate!)) only joking! and big hi to everyone too and thanks for the welcome. :))

  20. Yay, my kind of place! I've heard that North/South?? Clapham is a good place to visit as it has a few good wine bars and the nightlife is quite lively, how far is that from ED?
  21. I'm just really chuffed that I can access this site from work, they have all kinds of firewalls and blocks on our internet access, can't even go on ebay anymore! because we were told too many people wait on it whilst bidding or keeping an eye on items to buy, how on earth this one slipped through is a mystery!
  22. Well I live in Chatham and its a dump! have worked in London and have done with the travelling, I would just rather spend the extra money I spend commuting to put towards a place a little closer to where I work, kind of works out, plus recently got a promotion, but I love London and the vibrancy, East Dulwich seems a nice place to set up camp, or the surrounding areas, I suggest for those who criticise it too much, try living in Milton Keynes with all those damned roundabouts, it is completely devoid of any life or soul.
  23. ratty Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Is this not really a cleverly disguised thread > about dogging? > > I hear Cox's walk is the place btw! :)) funny! or should I say lol!
  24. Thanks for all the insight and info Brenden, guess will feel right at home then! ha! what about nightlife? I know there are quite a few decent pubs around, and restaurants, any clubs? nice wine bars?
