  1. Thanks so much for all of your comments, ladies. Unfortunately it's now the end of the day - well the office day at least- and I am no closer to breaking my decision impasse! It's going to be a long night . . .
  2. I'm looking at buying a house on one of the streets behind the Horniman. It's on quite a steep slope and there are steep concrete steps leading up to the house. I was considering excavating the front garden to build a more accessable entrace - but no one else on these roads seems to have done this. I'm wondering: 1. Why? Perhaps impossible to accomplish or prohibitively expensive? 2. How do all these families with children in the area cope? I've got a toddler and one due in October and the thought of negoitiating those steps with two little ones and a buggy fills me with dread. This is really my only reservation regarding the house, but it's a major concern and I'm absolutely stuck in my decision making. If anyone has experience dealing with this situation I would be so grateful to hear from you! Thanks for reading, -A
  3. Video instructions for new and original models: http://videos.ergobaby.com/en-us/
  4. Just to say I'm the mother of the 22 month old with Pippa and she is brilliant! I can't recommend her highly enough and happy to answer any PMs about her.
  5. I took my 18 m old son to the Teaddy Bear Shabbat at South London Liberal Synagogue in Streatham back in December. It wasn't well attended due to snow, but they certainly made a really nice effort to get the kids involved with songs, stories, and arts & crafts. They're held on the 1st Friday afternoon of each month. They also have a toddler group on Saturday mornings and hold family services - but I've been to none of these. I would be up for getting together with some other local families around the holidays as I'm an expat and have no Jewish family to celebrate with around here.
  6. I live near the Horniman Museum and would be happy to lend you mine. Send me a PM if interested.
  7. Hi Folks, Now updated to contain the above post and updated swim timetables from Peckham Pulse AND Dulwich Leisure Ctr pools! Have included both Jelly Baby and Rafts and Rascals sessions. -A
  8. Updated. Finally - something on Monday afternoons!
  9. There is a little acquarium on the pier. Very little. It won't keep them occupied for too long, but it's cute. If you're up for a bit of a drive, there is an petting farm in an old abbey about 1/2 drive away. Sorry - I can't remember the name of the place! -A
  10. Thank you so much candj!
  11. Can anyone recommend good things to do in Paris with a toddler? Thanks! -A
  12. Forest Hill, but only at certain times. You'd have to check the schedule. It's a pretty easy switch from London Bridge when it's not running direct though. -A
  13. Can also sympathise and ditto on the advice to see a neurologist. My experience is with cluster headaches, so I don't know if this will also work with tension headaches, but I often find that sometimes just nipping it in the bud and breaking the cycle of pain before it starts to progress is what's needed. If you're breastfeeding this may not be a good solution for your, but have you tried any serious prescription pain killers? -A
  14. Thanks so much Molly. Have updated the schedule as well as the resources tab - found and interesting schedule on nutrition related activities run by a Southwark nutritionist that might be of interest. Have also saved just the activity schedule tab as a Word doc that hopefully is accessable to all. Apologies for the large files due to the hyyperlinks. -A
  15. See if there's anything useful in my thread "activity schedule." -A
  16. Would be happy to meet to share my experience using BLW for my son. However, I'm back at work 4 days/week so it would have to be on a Monday and would need to be somewhere toddler friendly as he's now nearly 13 months old! Sorry to be so demanding! -A
  17. See the attached. I posted this on a thread called "Activity schedule." Not too much on there for Monday afternoons yet. Will update this occasionally as I have time and re-circulate on that thread. -A
  18. Haven't heard anything so it's going to the charity shop on Monday.
  19. Likewise - came home from work to find little one with a very high fever. Under control now and sleeping soundly. Hope it lasts - maybe I can at least get a decent night of sleep even if I did miss all the fun. Try again next time! Thanks again for taking the initiative to organise, Ruth. -A
  20. In my experience the heartbeat was checked at each midwife appt. -A
  21. Contents: 1 stick Nivea lip balm. Found on Lordship Lane Pavement near Friern Rd. PM me if it belongs to your little one.
  22. I'm in too! Also happy to do either.
  23. Am very excited that as mine is now over 1 year old he can have honey to celebrate this year! Sainbury's sometimes have Challah's.
  24. Perhaps we're the only 2 in the village? I still haven't sorted out a synagogue either. I suppose I can get to Streatham on the P4. Will have to bite the bullet and just do it one of these days. Of course, that means I have to go to synagogue too! L'Shannah Tova! Happy New Year Ruth!
  25. Hi Folks, There are always so many good recommendations for activities on here, and I can't keep track of them all. I only really need activities for Mondays and Fridays, but I figured what the heck, if I'm going to make a schedule for myself I may as well make one for everybody. Attached is the one I've started. I know, it barely scratches the surface. First sheet is for really local things. Second is for further afield, like day trips. Last one is for general activity related resources. It's too bad that there isn't a facility on here for shared files so everyone could just update it with their favorite activities. Since there's not, here's what I propose: Please suggest your favorite activities in the following format so I can just cut and paste: First please state the day of the week, then Name of Activity Time Location Age group Fee web link Every once in a while I'll update the sheet and recirculate. Sound good? Enjoy.
