This desk is particularly useful where space is limited. Wood effect, and very solid. Measurements: H 76cms; D 60cms. L 79cms when at its most compact, and up to 140cms when the desktop section has been slid to the side. There is a handy storage section for pens etc, to the left of the desktop, which can be accessed when the desktop is partially or fully open. There is also a roomy cupboard with one shelf, accessible whether the desk is extended or not. The desk has been well-used and has some surface scuffs and scratches. But these could be fixed with a lick of paint or some plastic wood. It is solid, and has a lot more use in it! You're welcome to come and have a look! (Upland Road, SE22)

I also recommend Stephen at Dulwich Carpet Company. He's just done a wonderful job for us - very pleased! -
Trees being felled for drainage work in Peckham rye

I've just objected on the Southwark website. Good luck! J -
I totally recommend Elliot from Langley Carpentry. He has just installed a hanging guitar holder, and a large mirror, on the wall of our music room. We're delighted with the results. Elliot was punctual, friendly and efficient. He also suggested a brilliant solution to a problem we had with one of our walls - and the end result looked much better than my original idea. We'll definitely ask him back to do more work in future. Many thanks Elliot!

Homophobic verbal attack by Veolia Bin Man
J27 replied to noahsdw's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
So sorry to hear this - what a horrible experience for you both. Glad you've reported it. Have you reported it directly to Veolia as well? They should investigate - the man is clearly one of their employees... -
Brilliant idea! Have donated and shared. Good luck Dillan and Rocky! J :-)

Old Kent Road Recycling centre is now accepting cardboard!
J27 replied to Ginnie's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks DKHB - The problem is that we've got a huge backlog now, and I think it would overwhelm the driver! Yes, I'll have a look in the store - maybe they have got them again now... J -
Old Kent Road Recycling centre is now accepting cardboard!

Does anyone know where we can recycle plastic carrier bags now? We had to use them for our online supermarket deliveries during lockdown, so accumulated quite a backlog :-( Thanks! J -
We recently had quite a bad mouse problem. We were impressed by the above reviews for Critter Solutions and contacted them. Roger and Elliot were brilliant. They came round promptly after we contacted them, and then weekly until the mouse problem was solved. They gave us lots of really useful info, about safety (for pets etc), the poison used (not as cruel as the old-fashioned ones), and how the whole process would work. The mice are now gone. Roger will come back if we have any further problems within the next 18 months. Roger and Elliot are great to have around - polite and friendly, and very efficient. Roger also has lots of fascinating anecdotes about his many years in the pest control business - an added bonus :-) Many thanks to Critter Solutions!

We've had things delivered by our milkman stolen by foxes - bread, margarine etc - until I hung up a bag in the porch so they couldn't reach them. We also have a cool box - with a well fitting lid - for the milk bottles. This is safe enough on the doorstep, against foxes. But in your case it seems unlikely that it was foxes - I doubt even the cleverest fox could steal two glass bottles of milk, without breaking and spilling them! So it does sound like humans :-(

A small plea from a local corona sufferer
J27 replied to Sophia Sophia's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Hi Sophia, So sorry to hear you're ill! Yes it's easy to forget now that things seem to have turned a corner generally (let's hope this is indeed true), that some people are still unwell and we need to be considerate. Hope you get some peace and rest, and will soon be feeling much better, take care, J :-) -

Great idea EDP - have now bought some. Thanks! J

I wonder if they like wallets because they're a bit like shoes - likely to be leather, smell of people maybe? We lost a few shoes from outside the back door, years ago, before we realised the fox had taken them and stopped leaving them outside! Also lost our dog's toy monkey :-(
