Nigello, this has been mooted around time after time throughout the years, particularly looking at geographical amalgamations, such as Norfolk, Suffolk & Cambs becoming East Anglia, North, West & South Yorks becoming Yorkshire and so on and so forth. The last time around, it was proposed to reduce England and Wales down from 43 to between 12-15. These recurring ideas always get soundly rejected in the final analysis.
  2. ?4 for 72 in Tesco last week, absolute bargain. Due to Mrs adonirum's thrifty (and I quote) spending, we now have circa: three years (or thereabouts) supply
  3. So that's where my pet Coypu and his mates scuttled off to. There was I just trying to give them a change of scenery from Norfolk.
  4. ....and the doctor's surgery was the house next door before the Gupta family opened DMC twenty years or so ago.

  6. ......or when the Police station was a house on the corner of Upland Road/Crystal Palace Road.
  7. When the building on the corner of North Cross Road/Archdale Road was the primary school you went to and not ?1million flats.
  8. Actually just thought, when you used to see Francis Rossi walking his Great Dane up North Cross Road.
  9. When Brenda Blethyn was the only famous resident (but not seen in Sainsburys cos it hadn't been built).

Typical politicians. Decide something. Make it a rule/law(fixed term parliament). Then when/if it suits you, decide it doesn't apply to you. Also, she probably doesn't want to join the exclusive club of Prime Ministers who never won an election. In short, as has been stated elsewhere in the thread, can we really blame/criticise her for doing so? Remember, ALL politicians at ALL levels worship the/their Holy Trinity, not the Christian one of father, son and holy ghost, but the politicians one of ME, MYSELF and I.

Yep, quite right, RH, and he lives in Suffolk anyway.

Have to admit to having had a sneaky regard for Farage at times, but, let's not mince our words, this really shows him to be a complete idiotic c**t.
  13. With the media coverage quite rightly concentrating on the horrific events at Westminster, anyone else see the irony of his funeral being relegated to an "also-ran" news item on all the channels? !!
  14. How ironic it happens today,(if it turns out to be terrorism) when people are debating the passing of MM and the peace process. Just goes to show it's always with us.
  15. "hit the biggest one so hard the rest run".......wasn't this a Jason Statham film !!!
  16. Nope, none of the above folks!! Got around it, but it's really bugging me now as have still not thought of it, so keep the suggestions coming, might get there in the end. I'll know it when I see it!!
  17. rupert45, thanks for reply/suggestion,much appreciated, but the word is more of a "derogatory" description.

Gerald Wilson - Court Lane Michael McAvoy - Beckwith Road just two examples from the past.
  19. Anyone out there able to help. I can't bring to mind a word. It means a "jack of all trades master of none" and is particularly applied to workers who are moved from one position to another without ever being proficient or competent. I've used it in the past but am having a senior moment I think!!!
  20. Sorry to hear of this, RH, and glad to know you're okay. Look forward to resuming our jousting when you're fully recovered.
  21. Thanks Cardelia & dc for clarification.
  22. Got this bug that's doing the rounds, so was passing/wasting time watching T.V. yesterday. Watched this classic film. It's now sixty years old and still as relevant today as it was then. The script/dialogue and character studies are absolutely superb. If you listen intently, it's as if it could have been made yesterday !! And, yes, I do know it was originally a stage play written a couple of years earlier.
  23. Wasn't able to get along as suffering with the bug that's doing the rounds. Will(or has) footage be appearing on Dulwich Hamlet T.V./You-Tube ? Can't find it as I post. I hope they can go on and win the competition, being the only "bona-fide amateur" club still left in it. (I know this is an outdated concept/expression ie: now non-league or semi-professional, but I mean that all the other teams are "ex-league" teams). It also seems to me that it is weighted against teams such as DHFC (further down the pyramid), with the replays being only a couple of days later and players possibly unable to get time off work at such short notice. Why aren't the replays scheduled for the following week (same thing with Braintree)? Anyone with better in depth knowledge?
  24. Thank you, Sue, seems like it will have to be Ebay then.
  25. Just a little joke, littlemissj, to help me get through the day, after the samaritans were engaged !!!
