  1. Agree with the above posts that it is fully deserved. Dylan's a writer after all and he's certainly our greatest living songwriter so I don't have any problem with it. It's thoroughly well deserved.

  3. Anyone else looking forward to a Rooney less England match tonight?
  4. The day Dylan went electric and changed the world of popular music overnight. Here's a blistering run through of Maggie's Farm with some red hot Mike Bloomfield guitar stings.
  5. Coincidently, I met Debbie Harry at one of their gigs. Mercury Rev (when they were still noiseniks) were the support act. NB: I loved that second hand book shop on Camberwell Grove. Sadly missed.
  6. I went for a job interview in the West End couple of years ago in some posh hotel. There's about 40 people in the room all going for various roles. Each one is asked to talk about themselves and why they want the particular job they going for for a minute before they have a one on one with an interviewer. After about 30 people had got up and droned on about how great they all were and were perfectly suited for a role in their esteemed company I was bored to tears and had already decided I wasn't interested in doing anything of the sort. I got up and said: "Hello, my name is Jah and I'm an alcoholic... Oops! Wrong meeting," and walked out.

  8. Actually, I think you're both right about that, especially as the boy is still 0nly 13. He's a long way off the first team at that age so no need to rush him.

We've a young 17-year-old lad at Spurs who we have very high hopes of in Marcus Edwards, who made his debut first team appearance against Gillingham a few weeks ago who plays in a very similar style. Both of them need to use their right foot more.
  10. Very harsh. Should have been given more time.
  11. Victor Wanyama's an absolute beast of a player in that holding midfield role. Most clubs would miss a player of Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier's quality in that area of the pitch but Wanyama's come in and done a magnificent job while they've been out injured. Harry Winks can do that job too so its safe to say we're well covered if anyone gets injured this season not just in that area but all over the pitch. Our investment in the players we bought during the summer was excellent without splashing out ridiculous sums of money. Still early days but I'm confident Spurs can have a very good season and hopefully pick up some silverware along the way.
  12. Agree. Spurs and Liverpool making good progress under two very special managers. I think it also helps enormously when the manager has the full backing of the board which seems to be happening at both clubs. I knew we had the beating of Man City today. Would be nice as another friend mentioned if the media would get the fuck out of Guardiola's arsehole.
  13. I think the name of this thread should be changed to reflect that its Le Chandelier that is changing hands and not Le Chardon just to avoid further confusion.

  15. Salsaboy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > No. I'm bored when I do have a day off. Bored! How the hell can you possibly get bored? People who get bored easily show a distinct lack of imagination. As I said before, there's more to life than working. ?I?m bored? is a useless thing to say. I mean, you live in a great, big, vast world that you?ve seen none percent of. Even the inside of your own mind is endless; it goes on forever, inwardly, do you understand? The fact that you?re alive is amazing, so you don?t get to say ?I?m bored.? Louis C.K.
  16. I retired at 53. I spent two years on the dole and it was hellish. It was practically impossible to find other work. Ageism is a reality. As soon as I hit 55 and could draw on my private pension I did so. I don't have much to live on but I'm one hell of a lot happier. The thought of ever going back to work for someone else fills me with inertia and morbid dread. Total anathema. If I could have retired earlier I would have done so. I live on my own time now. Not someone else's. There's is far more to life than working. "Work is the curse of the drinking classes." - Oscar Wilde. And I'm with Buk on this one. Hits the nail on the head for me. http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/ag237/jahlushhead/charles-bukowski-quote_zpssdqiwvvn.jpg

How could you possibly know this? You weren't even there and have no intention of going either. You said so yourself. Exhibit A. "Well.. I'm not likely to go there. Mainly as I do not generally eat burgers." Exhibit B; "If I were to stuff my face with Burgers and fries and chocolate brownies and ice cream I could well be back to square one. Not a risk I'm willing to take." 2. As for the "self importance" quote. This is laughable coming from you and another example of your narcissism. You can't stop talking about yourself. Any thread will do just as long as you can turn any subject into something about you. Me me me me me me me me me me.. ad infinitum.
  23. 96th minute to beat who?
