  1. Totally agree.
  2. It won't be a McDonalds. If it does I will personally burn it to the ground.
  3. When it was converted into a Harvester, all the original fixtures and fittings were ripped out, completely ruining what had once been a lovely pub. I've many happy memories when I used it as a regular Friday night haunt as a teenager in the mid-70s. Those great long hot summers of '75 and '76 stick in the mind as we'd spend most of the time in the garden (where there was another bar) smoking spliff and tripping on acid. Occasionally, we'd walk up through the woods for a few jars up at The Wood House then maybe back to The Grove for last orders. I think the pub/B&B option would be best to make it a workable pub again and I'm sure plenty of people would use it up this end, I know I would if the right people were to take it over (Prays for Beer Rebellion or Antic) but sadly it looks like Dulwich Estates have other ideas.

  5. I have absolutely no idea what you're on about. As a gambling man is it some new way for you to try and weigh up the pros and cons of the odds at stake?
  6. No.
  7. Of course the public doesn't need to know. It isn't in the public interest. It's just another showbiz story. He'd hushed the story up but was being blackmailed about it. When he realised he couldn't afford to continue to pay his blackmailers he goes public. Unfortunately, shit like this sells these days. People are obsessed with celebrity.

We're building a strong young side with the emphasis on young home grown talent (several of whom were in last night's England squad) and it's good that we are finally backing our manager in his vision. I like what Pochettino is doing at Spurs and though we've drawn a few games too many we're still unbeaten since the opening day loss to Man Utd, a game we could and should have won. The second of three London derbies on the spin coming up on Saturday. Should be quite tasty.
  9. According to Dulwich Estates it won't be reopening as a pub. It's looking like more flats and retail space, which is a bloody shame.
  10. What a cracking performance from Deli Alli tonight on his full debut. It seems every time he takes a step up in class he handles it with aplomb, no bother. That's some player we've got here and he can only get better. I'm so happy he's a Spurs player.
  11. The way things are going we'll be lucky if The Dog will be open in time for New Year 2017. I was also unaware that Mitchell & Butler will still be in charge of the day to day running of the pub. That will mean the food will still be crap. Meanwhile, The Half Moon is still firmly closed as Dulwich Estates plans are to also turn the upstairs into an hotel which goes against the grain of what most people want for it to remain as a music entertainment venue. Sadly, the Grove Tavern looks like is will never open its doors again as a pub. Absolute shambles.
  12. This thread is complete and utter bollocks.

  14. A new low for Murdoch's Sky network. Comparing Jeremy Corbyn to Jihadi John is a revolting and disgusting slander. http://news.sky.com/story/1587369/jihadi-jez-under-fire-from-his-own-side

  16. And me.
  17. Jeez! Hats off to you DF. Call it beginners luck but top of the Predictor League. Well played.
  18. And another four-nil win for the pink and blue.

From your OP - "and having been involved with diversification and equality issues in the past for a couple of years" - one could easily assume you did from that sentence. One could easily also assume and infer that you're actually a wide up merchant and conclude that you're a bit of cnut. No offence.

My two nearest pubs and both of them have closed down. Could certainly do with a pub up this end of Dulwich.
  21. Woo! Blast from the past. Many of you may remember her on the streets of East Dulwich too. http://www.soundsurvey.org.uk/index.php/survey/post/the_white_lady_of_camberwell_and_other_london_characters/
