  1. A dog does not need vaccinating every year. Nor does a cat. Vets now agree that three years gap is ok, and for them to admit that is quite something as it means they are losing money by not having you pay them each year for the boosters. You can get your dog titered to make sure they have the correct antibodies without having to plunge poison into their body. Look at Jean Dodds website for more info. She is an American veterinarian.
  2. Have bought two name brands from Sainsburys within 18 months and both failed. Has anyone had any luck under the Sale of Goods Act in getting a refund for a faulty kettle?

  4. What is their score on the door? Environmental health should be called.

  6. I have seen some houses in Nutfield Road like that, but they are quite small. I also saw one in Upland Road, and it was open to a small kitchen at the back. I would imagine it could be very drafty (and also very noisy) if you did not have good insulation. I think it does look attractive. Surely it's just personal taste.
  7. Have seen the riding school horses trotting round on the sand path, and not when children are in bed.
  8. What would police horses have to do with a riding school?
  9. Is it a band playing on the street? I thought tomorrow was the Big Lunch and they usually have a band then.
  10. Couldn't find any there when last in. Maybe it's only online. The Iceland one is 89 pence.
  11. They do very reasonably priced frozen spinach, which I cannot find in Sainsburys and other places It's very useful in cooking, for lots of recipes. Their fish fingers, butter, milk and cheese are a bargain.
  12. Good news, but what is a Shi Ku?
  13. Back Lane, Hampstead; Flask Walk, Hampstead, Church Row, Hampstead and further down by the church there are tiny streets. also Hollymount, where the Hollybush pub is, lots of interesting streets round that general area, including steps leading down into Heath Street. Burgh House as well which is by Well Walk.
  14. Can they tell if people are now speeding in the 20mph zones?
  15. I miss Crank's and their homity pie.
  16. Hmm, they appear to be closing very early now, at 3pm, didn't their opening hours used to be until 4 or 430?
  17. Thanks, have been tracking one on Amazon, VonShef, it has two hotplates on top, and the price has risen by about ?20 in the last week, but it's still less than the Dualit. My mother used to use a small one when there was just two or three people at home, to either reheat leftovers or to make small dishes like jacket potatoes.
  18. How can The Gardens have a catchment on Copleston? They shrank their area.
  19. Exactly what I thought when I heard about them.
  20. Do you mean in the car park?
  21. My friend's daughter had the party and did invite friends and family. She sent me a picture of the father to be doing a fist pump when he found out it was going to be a boy. Wonder what would have happened if it was a girl. Surely the best idea is to find out yourselves, then tell friends and family. I guess it helps a lot if you don't have any preference.
  22. Has anyone heard of these? A friend in the States told me that her daughter was having one. After the 20 week scan is done at the hospital, the doctor writes down the sex of the baby, and puts it in a sealed envelope. The envelope is delivered to a bakery, who opens it and then bakes a cake with either a blue or pink middle. The cake is cut into at the party and it is the first time the parents to be know what they are having. Seems like it could be fraught with difficulties.

  24. Went today, very nice, but it's not open on a full time basis, only Wed. to Sunday. It's small, and no room for prams, unless folded and even then only one or two. Not many seats. Nice selection of food, and serving brunch from 10 am. Coffee was delicious.
