'home is where the hatred is' is an all time favourite, as is 'pieces of a man'.....i heard he's (ironically) battling addiction to hard drugs now, was this mentioned on newsnight? (esther phillips, who quite famously covered 'home is....' also died young at the hands of heroin).

i feel the same giggirl someone mentioned a hung parliament? d'yer reckon folk would buy a lib dem leaning tabloid if we filled it with boobs and football transfer gossip, and perhaps a page of soap opera plot summaries? cos it scares me that there's so many people in this country that can be genuinely influenced by the currant bun

Hang on, everything is surely Maggie t's fault. We're still clearing up the carnage from her little party.

I thought the atmosphere and sound for Prince were both surprisingly very good considering the size of the venue (20,000). Although it may have helped that the stage was in the middle of the floor, rather than at one end. The atmosphere was a little worse for Stevie Wonder. I guess there's no venue of comparable size in London- Earls Court, Ally Pally and Wembley Arena are all around 10 - 12,000 i believe- and the sound at the o2 wipes the floor with each of them (especially Ally Pally). My mate was up in the top tier for Prince though and said the sound was poor, we were lower tier. For me, the roundhouse is a very good venue, but if you stand in the wrong place the sound can be poor- however move a few yards either side and the sound can be very good.

..of internetland, but what's the age range of people on here? I'm guessing mostly 35-45.

would anyone trust the tories or lib dems to stabilise us financially? i know gordon brown's short sightedness aided the current situation, but surely he's still the best man to bring us out of it? Or is that rather a naive view?

as arena venues go, the 02 is much much better than any of the alternatives....the prince gig there was one of the best, also saw stevie wonder there but my favourite 'gigs' of all time: public enemy- electric ballroom 1988, and funnily enough the 20 year anniversary of nation of millions at brixton last year radiohead- glasto 1997 & 2003 arcade fire- glasto 2007 and brixton 2007 pete doherty in his flat 2004 grizzly bear and the LSO at barbican a couple of weeks ago wilco at the forum last week de la soul at the jazz cafe 2008 arctic monkeys at the jabez clegg, manchester june 2005 (astonishing gig, as was the nirvana club in wigan and soul tree in cambridge and astoria all later that tour/year) sonic youth (daydream nation playback) at the roundhouse 2007 pixies (doolittle playback) at brixton 2009 patti smith at roundhouse 2007 prince @ 02 2007 the sonics at the forum 2008 willie colon at the roundhouse 2007 i reckon these were all great gigs

" etc . Tis a breathtakingly good album- at the polar opposite end of the SW scale I've been listening to 'til the band comes in' today Also bootleg from friday's pixies gig, new Stevenson ranch davidians album and grizzly bear's 'yellow house'

Pompey -7 Tottenham 9 sadly! :( it's funny that HR is suddenly a 'crook' to any team's fans that he's left- despite any success he brought them, but is a messiah type figure when he's incumbent. I'm a spurs fan and at the moment he's a flawed messiah, with potential to become a 'crook' when he fucks us off for the england job.
