Plan for us is to live in Discovery Bay, very family friendly i;ve heard and doesn't break the bank in terms of rent! From what I have been told all of the serviced apartments are on HK island itself (and >2 bedrooms is very rare and expensive) Its a long flight just for the week! :)

The Florence, Herne Hill - getting new baby play room
phillyboy replied to Belle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
wow - wonder if ceebeebies on a 40" screen will put off any of the Dulwich mummies and daddies -
Long sho - but is anyone here in the throws of relocating to Hong Kong or recently returned? If so would like to share experiences.....

Out of interest where are you planning on flying? we are flying to HK with out 12 week old in 7 weeks or so. Make sure you get on the case re birth certificate. We live in ED and were "lucky" that our newborn was born at home (thats a whole other story) as it meant we could register the brith quicker. After that the passport came relatively quickly.

No service from last night - shame really as it takes the internet out as well! I was sort of hoping that it was more than just my flat

Anyone else having issues with their phone line? BT are being rather unhelpful to say the least

Yes the 06.12 from ED was cancelled - it was nice to see a nearly empty Southern train trundling through ED station on its way to London Bridge at 06:10. Busses however were working really well -
My wife intends on taking our first and new born to whatever is on at Dulwich Park - whippersnappers etc... good for the little one to run around and even better for new mum to sit and chill out with even littler one

If you can believe it 5 found it on the street outside!

Well it turned out we couldn't wait so gave birth at home... paramedics came 2 mins before birth midwives followed about 10mins after. But the kind ambulance people took us to a/e about 30mins later (now thats how to get their quickly!)

This is a very long shot but i'll try anyway. Mrs Phillyboy gave birth at home yesterday as it came on quicker than we all thought it was just me and the kind 999 operator for most of it. To cut a long story short mum and baby were transferred to Kings and we lost our camera in the mellee of it all. If anyone finds a cannon ixus camera on the road in the Jennings road area or kings A/E the camera is yours I just really want to get the memory stick as it has some precious photos of the babies first few minutes.

Ah super thanks for your help! We would normally rely on friends but as its the Christmas party season those phone calls may fall on drunk ears :)

I would leave just before the end - grab a beer somewhere in the O2 and then jump in a cab 40 minutes or so after. Works for me everytime

Mrs phillyboy is due in a few weeks time and we are trying to work out the best way of getting to Kings. Does anyone have any experience of using local taxi firms to east dulwich?Driving our car isn't really an option as parking is, i suspect, an absolute nightmare.

Hi guys, this could well be in the wrong section but I have noticed quite a few discussions about primary admissions so am hoping to help some one out. We are moving to Hong Kong in Jan for a couple of years so will be renting our 2 bedroom house out on Jennings Road. I would hope that you would be pretty much guaranteed a place as we can just about see the school. Anyway i'll be posting on the other notice boards but as I said just wanted to let people who are looking for a place know. Thanks

stair gates - how to get them to fit?
phillyboy replied to Belle's topic in The Family Room Discussion
we use the retractable ones - a bit on the pricey side but great for a small house
